Other doctors I had seen before and since have had no idea. Dr. Tsoi immediately recognized a severe imbalance that Chinese Medicine called yin deficiency that relates to bad blood flow and bad kidney function. He treated me five days a week for a while and had me drink lots of tea and take herbal supplements. The pain came down quickly and I no longer needed crutches and could live pretty normally. We went to 3 days a week, then one day. Sometimes pain relief is immediate, but sometimes it takes time. It took five years to get close to normal health despite continual improvement. For fifteen years, I have only gone once a month or every few months. I have stopped altogether for a few years at times, but my problems start to return. I am fairly sure my underlying condition is incurable, but acupuncture, herbs, and cupping help my body stay balanced despite that. I can even exercise now like a normal person without worrying about injury. I had tried many remedies, but nothing was really curing it. I was recommended to Jonny by a friend, and felt relief right away with this reflexology, and it was totally gone in a few weeks. It has not come back at all! This authentic Chinese reflexology is meaningful massage and the focus areas that need treatment are tender and uncomfortable as they are being treated, but the pain is worth every gain! The discomfort is over as soon as the massage stops on that point and you can tell at each treatment it is less and less uncomfortable, until finally there is no pain in that point at all. It's incredible! Recently, I had experienced sciatic pain up and down the backs of both legs. With the COVID lockdown I had not seen Jonny for several months. The pain was affecting my sleep, making it uncomfortable to roll over and it was also painful to go up/down the stairs or pick up larger objects. It made my exercising more painful too. Through my feet, Jonny saw that the problem likely stemmed from the urinary system: the bladder, ureter and kidneys. Perhaps there was a small low grade infection with inflammation creating this pressure on the sciatic nerves. Using the traditional Chinese pressure methods of reflexology, and some cupping as well, I felt the improvement that first night and slept really well! I had a complicated set of complaints, and from the first appointment I was so well taken care of. I was treated both by Dr. Donath and his colleague Dr. Marshall who are both patient, friendly, and easy to work with. You can tell that they actually really do genuinely care. I never felt rushed, and in many ways the treatments felt like a combination of physiotherapy, stretching, and adjustment work. Both Dr. Marshall and Dr. Donath also have additional training that most chiropractors don't have! They use a variety of treatment methods to get the best results. I am feeling so much better, and it only took about two months of treatment. It really is incredible. And what is great is that both Dr. Donath and Dr. Marshall took the time to educate me on how to prevent certain injuries again (how to have better posture, getting out of bed the correct way to prevent too much pressure on the spine etc!). I also found them to be very affordable, they worked with my insurance and the co-pays were lower than I expected. They even worked with me so I could get a new custom-made pair of orthotic inserts for my shoes which have helped to improve my posture even more! I also wanted to add that their office is super clean and nice too! I don't typically leave a ton of reviews but I wanted to leave one for them because they did an amazing job! I think it's important to know that you DO NOT have to deal with chronic pain forever! There are healthy alternatives that actually work! I can't recommend Dr. Donath and Dr. Marshall highly enough! However, I can only give three stars as the session was only for 30 minutes and the price was $175! She also did not do any medical-type massage beforehand which I've had done with three different acupuncturists in the past. I have NEVER ever paid that much for acupuncture, let alone for a session under an hour (I've paid $80-90). I really regret not asking for the price beforehand. She encouraged me to check with my health insurance about coverage (which it does not cover) but even with insurance potentially picking up the tab, I don't know how you justify $175 for 30 minutes.
