They painted an apartment building we own, which took about a week. Even though it entailed more work than was expected they honored their quote. They also communicated so well with our tenants that we never received any complaints. We later asked Paul if he'd be interested in another small job at our home; sealing our chimney. He spent a lot of time researching the products and process, since he'd never done this before. Two of his crew came out one day to first seal the top and then returned another day to finish sealing the rest of the chimney. The guys were efficient, competent and courteous.They cleaned up leaving everything cleaner than it was before! He made good on his offer to make me better than whole. He didn't have to. I think it shows the strength of his character to own and to make an effort to remedy the past mistakes. Before and while work was in process Austin's office staff or support crew worked diligently to keep the project moving as quickly as possible. They smoothed communication issues and kept me updated. Austin's crew lead by Luis replaced the composition shingle roof with a new metal one. They were super-friendly and courteous. I love the new color! The same is true for the new exterior color. My greatest concern with the previous job was with the board and bat siding. Those concerns were justified by water-stains. Austin's crew remedied my concerns by replacing boards and bats. The previous scope of work was limited to two walls. Austin's crew weather-proofed the bats on all four sides of the house. And finally they stained those four sides with a new, more modern color. The finish work was detailed and site was left clean and lovely. We did experience a single dispute occurring at the end of the project. While we had the verbal assurance from the project manager he would keep us apprised of cost overruns, we received a staggering surprise at the end of project, only with the final billing. When disputes or misunderstandings occur, there is always a lesson for both parties involved. We have learned with future projects to have all our requests in writing prior to implementing and making down payment for the job. Verbal sales statements are never enough no matter how sincerely made. We have learned to demand accounting toward the original contract, and to demand the new estimate of costs of new issues in labor and materials, as they occur. This clearly keeps all parties on the same page. In our case, we expected some cost overrun, but were unaware of the change order resulting in an overall 38% cost increase. While we did verbally discuss some rot issues and the placement of a new support pole, we had no change of order workplan to sign off our understanding of the potential increase in cost range. We are grateful to the owner and the project manager for reviewing our dispute, coming to an agreement for 31% above the final contract amount, after review of receipts and labor log. Had it not been for a breakdown in communication and lack of written understanding for both parties, this job clearly would have been a 5 star!!!!

The work crew was friendly, professional, and got the job done in a timely manner. They cleaned the site everyday before they left, which was important for us, a family with children. They found additional damage underneath our shingles and waited for my OK before proceeding to add more work to the original quote. Overall, they did an awesome job. The price was fair, the workers were professional and efficient, and the quality of work performed was excellent. Franco checked in with us throughout the project. I got a couple of quotes to paint my mother's house, which has lap cedar siding and a deck. I chose…read moreHilltop because their price was competitive, they seemed knowledgeable during the estimate, and they had good reviews. There were some positives. They did a nice job painting the trim and front door, and the front of the house had good paint coverage. Unfortunately, the rest of the project was disappointing. I had to repeatedly send photos showing missed or subpar work before issues were addressed. Early on, I learned that their "double layer" paint application did not mean two coats, but rather a single, supposedly heavier coat. Even so, the paint coverage on the sides and back of the house was very thin. Knots in the cedar were still porous, and there was noticeable shadowing through the paint. The bottom edges of the lowest three rows of siding around the house weren't painted. Some landscaping wasn't properly protected and ended up with light overspray. Under the deck, they didn't clean the siding before painting, leaving cobwebs painted over. The caulking required several return visits before it was mostly complete. They initially said they would reseal the chimney cap, but later told me they couldn't touch it for liability reasons. I also had to point out that the top of the chimney cap hadn't been painted. In addition, I found fascia boards and pieces of siding that had either been missed for replacement, left unsecured, or simply not painted. I was also told part of the quoted price reflected the need to rent a deck sander, but that never happened. In the end, I did most of the deck scraping and prep work myself the evening before they painted because I wasn't confident it would be done properly. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. While the final result became satisfactory after multiple rounds of follow-up, it required far more oversight and "babysitting" than it should have. Based on my experience, I would not hire Hilltop again.

Right around the beginning of December Aaron paid Fidel Ortiz or Miguel Perez, we are not sure what his actual name is... Half down to put a new roof on our house we have a signed contract and a receipt for the money that he gave him. The materials were supposed to be delivered in 7 to 10 business days. After week three we had heard nothing from him and no materials were delivered. Aaron begin calling, texting, emailing no word. We called a mutual friend that recommended him. She reached out to him and he called us immediately. December 28 and 29th he and his crew came and tore off half of our roof. They left their truck parked out front of our house for a week, then came last Friday and remove the other half of our roof. Still, no materials were delivered here as they were supposed to be. As you all know, we had a storm this week. I've attached one video that absolutely does not do the amount of water coming into our house justice. So of course, we begin to call, text, email him with no response. So once again, I reach out to our mutual friend she gives him a call, he calls Aaron back left a voicemail saying he's been out of town. He didn't have his phone. What's the problem why are you calling our friend? As the water pours into our home. He shows up yesterday does a few things on the roof. Aaron leaves work because he sees him on our cameras, they talk and Aaron voice records what he says. He says that the materials came, but were the wrong color (where did they come? They were supposed to come here) that's why they aren't on the roof. Aaron says at this point I don't care what color they are, just put our roof on, he said OK let me go check on that. He has not returned. Left one voice message saying he had a flat tire. Aaron called the company that he ordered the materials through and there is no order for our address. We texted him last night and let him know that we would be moving forward if we didn't hear from him by the morning he has been warned. We have not heard from him. Please do not use this company let every single contractor real estate agent family, member anyone you know not to use this company. It's the middle of winter, and we are ready to go into the coldest spell we've had and we have no roof on our house! Anyone has any idea how to get this process started please private message me and I will pass it on.
