Wow!! I have never been treated so poorly in a store in my 55 years of life. I went into get some…read morestain samples put on a board. first I was told by Jim they couldn't help me because they had a truck come in with a big order. I was told to come back in the afternoon. I returned in the afternoon, when I walked in I was given a dirty look by Jim and asked were I buy my paint. Insinuating he didn't want to help me because I don't buy paint there or spend enough money there. After an argument he reluctantly helped me. I tried to smooth things over and explain to him that we do buy items from the store just not paint and that we even have an account set up there. Jim's response was well use it then and not in a nice way. I don't go in there daily but I go in there enough to know that his name is Jim and the owners name is Bob. Obviously we will never use this hardware store again in the future.

There are a ton of franchised hardware shops in the area, basically 1 per small town. The ace in…read moregrayling is typically my go to outside of the one in downtown Roscommon simply due to location and familiarity. This one is still in Roscommon county but is on the way to Higgins lake. By far the BEST against the others I mentioned. Not only are the hardware and home improvement sections larger but there's also a great selection of gardening, camping, fishing and beach equipment! So literally the selection caters to all Higgins lake and KOA visitors in the area! Don't pass this place by for a last minute purchase this summer they have it all with a good price and fantastic service!

Great people who know every item in this store and are happy to help you find some odd sized chrome screw or a paint for vinyl. They not only can find it, they have it to find. This 5 minute drive saves the big drive to the nearest box store. More than once the box store did not have what I needed and the store worker says I should try the 'other' hardware store. And they were right. Now I start here and save myself time, money and frustration. Sure, you can occasionally save money on certain products by hitting up the big box stores, but not having to drive 35 minutes (each way), or not having to try and find someone to help answer your questions (seriously...McLean's staff are plentiful and their experience is unmatched!) is worth a few extra dollars. 5. FREE popcorn. yeah, if you were on the fence before you now have a reason to make this store your go-to for hardware and lumber. You can't be sad and eat popcorn at the same time.
