October 2026 He's the best! $40 out the door for a sedan smog. Weekday, before lunch, no line at all. Total time was about 15 minutes. Honestly, He's THE best price anywhere near Canoga... yet alone in the entire West Valley. And He's gentle with the car, patient, a seasoned pro at Smog Checks. Yes, I will be back, and I will recommend him to everyone I know. read more

Not what i expected, but if you want a cheap quick smog check this is the place! Cons: sort of hard to find Not a lot of parking First come first serve Pros: fast (20-25 mins) cheap ($40 for a smog check) Friendly mechanics Ling ling (57 year old parrot who lives in the shop and kept me entertained while i waited) Great spot and nothing but good things to say read more

This has been my go to Smog certificate location as long as it has been open. I have sent literally, 100s of clients there way. That said, this all changed yesterday. Jeff the elderly owner changed prices, and how he prices, ( by how many doors a vehicle has!!?). Sold the mechanical side of the shop. So at this point there is no draw or advantage of going to this shop. The APATHY ended it for me. Spen your money elsewhere. read more

Total dive. Dirty shop. No personality owner. That being said, I waited 5 minutes on a Saturday, they were cheap and they handled the DMV paperwork with no issues. Easy stuff. read more

Owner is rude and shop is dirty and un-accommodating to customers. I parked for 20 seconds in the only available place to park and owner said I can't park there and I asked where I should park. He said I don't know go find public parking. I just left and found a much better shop down the street. Don't recommend this ghetto establishment unless you like parking 10 minutes away. read more

After driving to four other shops, I'm so glad that I came here. Quick, courteous and done right. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Best Smog Check Test Only Always in and out no waiting. See Jeff We've been using him for many years. He hasn't raised his prices either. Off of Sherman Way East of Canoga turn North Onto Deering. Then left into driveway in same parking lot with Steve's Jaguar. read more

Amazing smog place, I've taken over 20 cars, best price in town, those saying he just passes your car even if it won't pass is bs, he'll willingly check your car and let u know if it passes before he passes it though the machine, obviously if u have an issue u won't pass. Sometimes what you guys have to realize just because your check engine light isnt on DOESNT MEAN YOULL PASS SMOG !! Just because you don't have a check engine doesn't mean u that u don't have any codes. Ever since I found this smog shop I haven't gone to any other. i recommend this shop 100% and will always be my go to smog place, thank you for your work read more

Jeff was awesome I needed a smog check right after work and he stayed open ten minutes later to help me out. He's a homie and a gentleman, and right down the street from the DMV. I can't recommend this place enough read more

worst service and fraudulent business I would ever take my vehicle for smog. First this guy giving huge issues in passing our vehicle after going for the second time when the issue was fixed. I won't go into detail but these guys were taking advantage of my wife having her go back and fourth and the part I put on is factory oem. They were asking for the code number I'm like " wait a second this isn't a aftermarket part this is factory part that I took off and welded back to the vehicle. They were harassing thinking I stole the part and not wanting to pass my vehicle. I would avoid this place at all cost, honest these older folks don't have a clue what they're saying. " oh I need to have to the code number in the system" it's not AFTERMARKET PART!!! I'm going to have this business close down completely. What gives you the authority to take advantage of my wife just because she's wanting to do smog on her vehicle. Your the one giving problems. Next time you watch yourself the Way you want to steal money from people. read more

I would avoid this place for smog checks. Here is why. My friend had a car that had failed for EVAP somewhere else. We had a smoke test ran & determined that it was the filler neck. Got a new filler neck from Pick-U-Parts and i installed it. Ran another smoke and it was 100%. my friend took it to this guy and it ALLEGEDLY failed for EVAP again. Had it checked out on the side for a small price and it passed! Took it to another place and it passed today. So, i would have to conclude that the guys at MC either do not know how to run the EVAP test OR they have a defective machine. I already knew 100% that the EVAP problem had been fixed because I fixed it! Total rip-off! AVOID this place at all costs! Not to be trusted. Also, he wanted to charge full price again for what probably would have been an invalid test. Consideing reporting him to the state. Almost took it to a Smog Referee AND if we had that would have already put them in their crosshairs! read more

BEST SMOG CHECK TEST CENTER IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY! Hands down. I went in with a family friend, who is an auto dealer, time have my car smogged because my registration was due in a few days and the DMV required it. I was worried because I'd waited until the last minute, but he assured me things would be fine; he uses this shop all the time. The shop is IMMACULATE. The service is super FAST and EFFICIENT and the employees are incredibly HELPFUL and KNOWLEDGEABLE. My car passed, no problem. Got home, my smog certificate had already been uploaded to the DMV database. Perfect. I will always return to this place. There was no wait, the staff was helpful, professional, and friendly, it was cheaper than most places I checked ($45), and I was in and out in about fifteen minutes. It's located behind/next to Steve's Jaguar on Deering (that little street by the railroad tracks). read more

I have been going here for years and so has my father. The gentleman that owns/works here is very nice. His service is fast and has great prices compared to anyone around . DONT GO THERE .he doesnt have any knowledge for smoke check .he charged me two times for smoke check that didnt pass before checking if the engine is ready or not .a d he put a negative record on my car for nothing .he just want to charge you extra and unnecessary money to fix the problem that isnot exist .and when I complain he answer very rudely and impolite. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS RUDE GUY . read more

My family has been only going to Jeff for Smog Checks for a few years now. He is friendly, professional, upbeat, and very focused. His prices are straight forward and there is no nonsense there. He will tell you upfront the cost of the test will be. There is usually no wait and he immediately works on it personally. The location is a small set of stalls on Deering just off of Sherman Way and Canoga. The test results are digitally transferred to the DMV so you can complete your vehicle registration right after passing the test. Please note there is a retest fee if the car does not pass and this is standard. read more

Came here this morning for a last minute smog check & there was barely a wait. The technician was fast & the owner, Jeff, is a very cheerful funny guy. Everything was taken care of for $45 (certificate included) despite being quoted elsewhere for way higher for my older 1999 car. Very satisfied. read more

Hard working, nice owner, very quick and lowest price I've found. You'll be in and out in about 20 minutes.

Professional & Fast Work is what you get from this place, It's located behind/next to Steve's Jaguar on Deering Avenue, the owner she is very nice, helpful and professional, i brought my car in for smog check and honestly i have never had a faster service done, i will defiantly bring my car back here and send anyone back to her... Thank you to Robert at Valley discount tires for refereeing me to this place. read more

We have been coming to McAuto for years to do our smog. The owner is genuine, helpful and friendly. The service is quick & very affordable. There was a girl that was working there who was horribly rude, lacked customer service, & stole money. The owner had no idea what was happening until a past customer made him aware of it. He fired her & she is no longer there. Definitely bring your car for a smog. If you experienced bad service previously, talk to the owner. He will resolve it and see to it that you get serviced correctly. read more

I live 20 miles from this place but I have been bringing all my car to this station for years. By far best smog check station in the city. Reliable, quick, cheap, no long waiting lines, no scam. Best price I found in Canoga Park area. The technician is friendly. Other places I've called charge $10-$20 more than MC Auto which is ridiculous for exact same service. MC Auto will now be my go-to place for smog check. read more

Mac Auto is the best and, as far as I can tell, the cheapest smog place around. They have to be. They're not fancy. They're tucked into a little corner where you would never find them if you weren't looking. I've been taking my cars there for 20 years and they have never failed a test. Plus the wait is usually short. I did a smog test there today and drove my car straight into the testing bay. read more

Unfortunately my car didn't pass, but it was still a pretty fast and easy process. The woman was professional and did her thing without too much chatter. There's a nice couch to sit on and magazines while you wait. Also much cheaper than another place I stopped at on the way. About $40 total with taxes and whatnot. read more

I needed a smog check and my brother-in law (my mechanic) took me to one of his peeps. It's kinda hidden in the back of a shop but a very nice man did my smog check and it passed, of course! $40 bucks, so If you need a smog check in Canoga Park, check this guy out! I'll be back in two years! read more

Thanks for the great service. Prices are affordable. The prices are upfront with no hidden fees. Will come back again.

I tried this place out for my vehicles smog check needs in the first quarter of 2016. After comparing prices with multiple other businesses in the West Valley, MC Auto had the best rates around. The service I received was outstanding. The price I was quoted was exactly what I paid when the services were completed. Most smog check places charge a additional fee for the smog certificate and will not tell you of this additional fee until its time to pay. MC AUTO did not play weird games and add fees to my bill. I am very happy to recommend this business to anyone looking for a honest smog test center. read more

This place is great if you need to get a smog check. Family has been coming here for years. This place has been here for 26 years. Super quick and cheap. This was such a fast and easy experience. Melissa is an excellent smog tech. She got the work done without any fuss. She keeps the shop and waiting area very clean and neat. The price is very reasonable, $45.00. I would highly recommend this shop. read more

I went to this smog test station on the recommendation of a friend and my mechanic who sends all his customers there. They told me a very nice man, with a great customer service would take care of things. I can only think that the business must have changed hands as we (and other customers in line) received probably the worst customer service in all of human history. Apparently we (and other customers) interrupted the female associates lunch, though there was no sign or nothing to suggest that the business is closed for lunch. She actually said, when asked by a woman in line if she should return in two hours 'maybe' and walked off leaving the customer looking at others in line in amazement. The woman said 'no problem, just let me know when and the associate replied 'Due to starvation I'm not going to answer in case I say anything rude that I might regret.' She would not look you in the eye, answer questions or respond in any basic human way to others. I said, "If you need to eat, we'll wait, just say.' She replied sarcastically, "I can do your smog while I eat (which she did) I just dont understand why people don't get that 12-1 is lunch." The only other thing she said was the price, otherwise ignoring everyone and acting as if we, the customers, were putting her out by giving her business. Now they have lost the business of a whole garage of customers (I immediately phoned my mechanic), let alone everyone that went there today. One star is very, very generous. There are many smog stations. I will NEVER go to this one again. read more
