    Safe Sweep Chimney

    (6 reviews)

Recently my chimney was damaged from a storm on December 19th extremely high winds and heavy rain,…read morethe wind was so strong it lifted the metal insert in my chimney and removed it w/ the bricks still attached. I immediately took to the internet to find a high-quality specialist w/ a 5* rating and reviews to back it as I had installed a high-quality metal roof installed 8 years ago by interlocking roofing at the time the cost was $ 35,000.00 now that same roof today would cost approx. close to $ 100,000.00 so I needed a professional with knowledge with working w/ a metal roof that looks like slate. and wanted to do the proper assessment of damage cost etc. prior to placing a claim w/ my insurance company. As that would give me a good idea of cost repairs what would be involved as it would be a lot different than dealing w/ your normal asphalt roof where they could just go up on the roof where in this case you cannot. You would either need a lift or specialized staging set up as that come at a higher cost. in order to not compromise the integrity of the metal roof and to avoid liability, so I needed to do my do diligences in getting the right company to assess and do the job once the claim was put in. Because it was the weekend, I filled out the information online and in less than a 1/2 hour, I had a response from Brian from Safe Sweep Chimney. Extremely professional and set up an appointment on the 30th of December to come out and assess the damage. Now I had a professional I then went online and filed my claim w/ Amica who I have had for many years and are the Best of the Best when it comes to insurance companies, after filing I was notified that I was assigned a claim representee, and a claim person would be coming out on the 31st of December, so now I have done what needed to be done. Now as stated Brian showed up like he said he would at the time he had stated and was here for well over an hour did a complete assessment, cleaned the chimney and the fee was very reasonable of $ 300 as stated during our first conversation. and wrote up a report in his findings. During his time at my home Brians communication was in terms that I could understand and the process that would need to take place, and yes, a specialize staging company would need to come out and set staging w/ stairs in order to not compromise and damage to my roof but also for the safety of his employees. and the roof would have to be tarped to avoid any scratching etc. Brian also asked me if I had ever had the chimney ever cleaned, I told him no, that I had been told back when I purchased my home back in 1978 that because I didn't have a fireplace it was necessary, that may have been the case back then only to find out not to be true, to my surprise. the cleaning the chimney is one of the things Brian insist should always be done regardless this way it ensures the integrity of the bricks and shows if there are any cracks etc. that can be repaired that can avoid any future expensive cost down the road and avoid any carbon monoxide from seeping into your home. This to me is what sets Brian apart from other his willingness to take the time to educate someone like me of the dangers that could arise, as Brian put it, though it is a costly repair that it's his job to make a homeowner aways of any hazards that could arise in the future, regardless of whether I went with him or not, That was all I needed to hear, I was relieved in knowing that hiring Brian would be another one of those best asset's I would be investing in knowing the job for one would be professional, two I would never have to worry about it again at least not as long as I remain in my home. one of the best choices I could have made by doing my homework and not just hiring anyone, and the second-best thing I ever did was having one of the best insurance companies to protect me with my Home, and Auto and Liability Insurance, Amica I could be happier w/ my decisions and I urge anyone looking for reputable insurance company, reputable Chimney expert call Brian, at Safe Sweep Chimneys as well as Amica, oh one last thing to Brian's credit, who in today's world does this. Brian made it a point to call me the next day to see how I was doing, knowing how frazzled I was and to insure me everything would be alright. but was more concerned about me as a person. Sure, made me feel a lot better. I can only say Thank you Brian, so much appreciated the time and care you took to spend w/ me the day of my crisis. Joseph St. Jean

They covered my living room with tarps and left my living room spotless. The outside of the chimney needed more attention, and Brian gave me a few options which were reasonable. Oziel de Oliveira of Masonry Plus used sand as a grout on our patio. Not surprisingly, four months…read morelater it is washing away. I contacted Oziel and he said the grout didn't harden because of the weather. Seriously? He has done nothing to repair his faulty work. Brand new patio and we have to pay someone else to redo the grout. Poor workmanship and even worse business practice.

Well, this is a convoluted story. We were looking for a mason to do a patio. We saw this company…read moreworking on a job, saw him again at another job. The work was great. and we hooked up with him. We do not have his name written down. All we know is that he had a truck that had "Masonry Plus Construction" on the side of the truck. He was a great guy and we liked him from the start. However, when they arrived to do the job, a different guy came, named Marcus. He told us that he bought the company from the first guy and he went back to Brazil. We didn't get a comfortable feeling with Marcus from the get go. Nothing specific really, looking back. Unfortunately, we never got a written estimate from the first dude. That was a mistake I won't ever make again. This guy came with his crew and put in our patio. The patio looked great but there was a couple things we did not like. The guys cut some brick on top of the patio which caused cuts in the bricks below them. Looks like hell. It is covered by our furniture but not great. Also, at the outside edge, it wasn't secured by concrete and the rain washed the sand away. The entire edge needed to be reinforced before we could finish the area. We had added a couple of other things to our original estimate so there was a small increase in price EXCEPT, we had asked to have a cobblestone border around an area that we wanted to use as a lobster/steamer eating and cooking area which is 20ft x 10ft on 2 sides only. This was already added into our estimate with the first guy. Marcus also told us he'd do it. Although, when the patio was finished, he never came back. This spring, we called Marcus. Told him we needed the border done and would like to put a block walkway in. Well, now a third guy shows up and says he's doing the estimates. Never saw him before. He gives us a price of $5000 to add the walk. We said no-way. However, they have never come back to finish the first job. I'm not sure how this business is run, but I'm not real happy with them. I think a 2 star review is adequate for this company. You are welcome to visit and check the patio out, just PM me or email me at: Dlsheeran2@aol.com. We are happy to help.

DO NOT HIRE!!! We…read morehired John Deangelis of Deangelis Concrete to remove and replace our front walkway in August of 2021. The work completed by Deangelis concrete was flawed for a number of reasons. The cobblestone stamp work that was done had numerous defects. There were many places where the stamp was not aligned properly, leaving gaps, and defects in the pattern. When we pointed out these defects, John Deangelis admitted he made a mistake and tried to fix it with a grinding tool, but only made things worse, leaving deep gouges in the new walkway and removing the coloring of the concrete. There were also many places where the concrete was left with extremely rough edges, corners, and gaps in the concrete where the steps met. In addition to the variety of aesthetic defects, the slope of the stairs is very uneven, and in some places so steep it poses a safety risk. When we had the job quoted we discussed and confirmed multiple times with John Deangelis that we wanted the stairs to be level to avoid safety risks in slick conditions. The slope of some of the steps is more than 14%. (recommended slopes for such a walkway is 2-5%) These steps are truly hazardous when snow and ice are present. . When we told John Deangelis we were unhappy with his work and that we would like a refund he refused. When we tried to have follow-up discussions regarding the matter via the email provided on his business card (drodrigues082@gmail.com). John Deangelis responded to our first email. Then after several attempts to follow up, the person responding to the emails all of a sudden claimed to have no connection to John Deangelis. Ultimately Deangelis Concrete declared they would no longer communicate with us. When Deangelis Concrete refused to refund our money or to communicate further with us, we had multiple other concrete and masonry professionals evaluate the new walkway. The consensus among all of them was that the work is flawed and the best course of action was removal and replacement of the walkway In light of this, we took the matter to small claims court to try and recover our money. In March 2022 the courts ruled in our favor based on the evidence we presented. Now, 6 months later, in spite of the court ruling, Deangelis concrete is still refusing to pay the court-ordered damages. Now, In addition to all the issues with the initial installation listed above, it's been just over a year and substantial cracks are beginning to form in the walkway. This is, by far, the worst experience we have had with any contractor performing work on our home. TLDR: Deangelis Concrete = Unprofessional Poor Quality Work DO NOT HIRE!
