Clover did a great job clearing out the overgrown plantings and adding a lot of new shrubs/trees. The project included a new overall design for the entire property, including taking out large trees, and adding in bluestone, walkway and patio, could not be happier with the job, and the friendliness of Kurt and the entire Clover team. Strongly recommend!

I live in California but my old house in Falmouth, MA is now on the market. The morning of July…read more11, 2012 I received a call from my agent saying she had a showing and needed my approval to hire a landscaping company she knew to get the house in "show-shape" for that showing. The price was steep -- $370 -- for weeding. Due to the late notice, I approved the spend. The following day I stopped by the property before catching a flight back home. My wife and I were SHOCKED to see the horrible appearance of the yard, it was heart wrenching. Not only was it NOT "show-shape" -- it looked awful with weeds everywhere, along the front face of the yard, along the driveway, along the walkway to the door, and blocking access to the backyard. We both assumed the landscaping company didn't show up. After the shock wore off, I manned up and decided to take the next few hours to fix the yard, though the showing the day before would be lost, I rationalized that I at least saved myself some money. After working about two and a half hours getting the place "show shape" I called my agent and was once again SHOCKED to hear that the landscaping company DID show up. I called the landscaping company to ask what happened -- here is a whole landscaping company hired for one purpose -- to make the yard look "show ready" -- oh my did they fail at that job. Expecting an apology, some embarrassment, and perhaps an abatement of the agreed price (I was still going to give them some pay despite failing at the overall goal), they instead defended their work, claiming it was professional. I'm not sure if I'll be able to attach a photo to this review but let me tell you -- if the work they did at my house was their impression of professional, you do not want them doing that shoddy level of work for you. In life sometimes you have to cut people a break because people are people, have their off-days, are mistake prone, etc. So I decided that before I review them negatively I'd give them the chance to decide between their reputation and getting paid. I'm an attorney and if I did lousy work for someone, I would appreciate that opportunity to take responsibility for the shoddy work done and be giving a second chance. However, not Maria Hickey & Associates, they just wanted to get paid and said "I could care less what 'review' you write about my company...It is you that looks like an idiot...." Well, I guess she's right to the extent that I did not make the smartest choice in hiring Maria Hickey & Associates without considering any references of her company's work -- hopefully this review help others avoid the same mistake.

I have had a very, very bad experience with this tree contractor and advise anyone considering this…read morebusiness to rethink their decision. I contacted Thomas Tree to get an estimate to cut down three trees and prune two trees. Dan Thomas handed me a written estimate of $1500. I found the estimate competitive and told Dan to proceed with the work. He contacted me at 7 a.m. one morning to tell me that his crew was on the way. I was a bit startled by the lack of notice, but told them to proceed. Once on site, I discussed modifications to the job with Dan. This modification resulted in four trees being cut down instead of three, and two trees being pruned instead of one. Dan did not discuss a change to the estimate, but I assumed it would increase based on the fact that he was cutting down an extra tree. A few days after the work was done, I got a call from Dan. He stated "I need to swing by and pick up a check. I will need $3000." I was shocked by this phone call because Dan had not yet provided me with an invoice, and, I never expected the change in work would result in a 100 percent increase in cost. I asked Dan to explain the difference between the original estimate and the final job and his explanation made little sense. It was apparent that he low-balled the initial estimate in order to get the job.
