Needing a quick lunch while traveling around coal country in Schuylkill County I stopped by May's Drive-in in Ashland. I'm going to keep this short. The service as atrocious. The burger was just ok. The coleslaw portion was comical. While I wanted to get some soft serve on the way out, I couldn't bring myself to giving them another cent.

Chicken fingers and crinkle fries.

Obviously no t fine dining. It's coal country. If you are looking for a decent diner than stop here in Ashland on your way up to see the smoldering land of Centralia. Chicken fingers (all real chicken breast) crinkle fries and a medium soda $15. Friendly staff, plenty of seating. Ambience? it's a coal country drive in. What kind of ambience do you expect? But they have ice cream! Soft serve, slush puppies, shakes, sundaes....

Creepy panda trash thingy

Gave me the opposite of what I ordered. I ordered a soft serve in a dish and got a hard serve on a cone ‍. Also the workers ignored my mother multiple times when they saw her. And beware for the CREEPY PANDA ON TOP OF THE TRASH CAN. The place looks kinda old on the outside. But yea don't recommend

Sausage very tasty

We come to this place every time in the town. The food is great and the waitresses are always nice. The price is decent too: less than 35$ for all the food in the pictures :). We always wanted to try the ice cream but every time felt no room for it after finished the food :)

Nice little Drive In that's a real throwback kind of place. You need to know what you're in for going in, so temper your expectations. It seemed to staffed entirely by local high school students the afternoon we went in. They were all very friendly and happy to help, but obviously these aren't terribly experienced line cooks. Everything here is going to be slapped on the grill or tossed in a fryer, often straight from the freezer. The kids went for hot dogs and chicken strips, both of which came with a generous helping of fries and a coupon for a free dessert after their meal. They were perfectly fine. My one friend and my wife both went with the chicken parmesan sandwich while my other friend went with the pulled pork special. Both platers were extremely poor, resembling what you'd find in a high school cafeteria of yesteryear. With that said, I'm not quite sure what they were expecting. I went with the fried chicken basket. It was a much better choice, consisting of two huge chicken breasts that were fried just right, still maintaining their moisture inside their crispy, cholesterol-laden shell. It was accompanied with a pile of french fries and a small dish of institutional-style cole slaw. After lunch, everyone had desserts, and that's where this place shines. My peanut butter soft serve was delicious, and generously sized for a small. The kids loved their chocolate soft serve and slush puppy, and the generic "Flying Saucer" ice cream sandwiches were good as well. May's is your stereotypical old school drive-in style restaurant. Don't stray too far from burgers, hot dogs and simple fried dishes and you'll probably be okay. Prices are right, and service is friendly. There aren't a ton of choices in Ashland to eat, and if May's isn't the best of them, at least it is a reliable choice.

Awesome burgers I heard they have really good milkshakes. Also, next time I'm in I'll be sure to try it again.

We were driving by Danny's Drive-In after spending the weekend camping in the area. My brothers…read morename happens to be "Danny" and that was a good enough reason for us to stop for lunch. In all, we ordered two double cheeseburgers, cheese fries, chicken fingers, regular fries, and two sodas, which came out to roughly $20. I'm not sure how you can complain about those prices, but apparently some people can. Those prices don't look like they've changed since Danny opened in 1940. That's obviously a joke, but they've actually only gone up a buck over the past 7 years according to another reviewer's picture. That's not bad and, honestly, pretty nice of the local drive in to stay affordable. The food was great considering how inexpensive it was and rivaled any sort of cheap burger I've ever had. You have to order it "with everything". They said that's how they do it so that's how you should eat it. The staff was also very nice and helped us through the menu. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be back!

I can't say enough about the help, kindness, and exemplary service Heaven and Britney showed me. If I had a business, I would hire them in a second. Also, I have to say, I've been going there for years for their pierogies and I don't see any signs of stopping.
