I am so grateful that I found Mayo Chiropractic. I was in a strange accident where a (larger) friend of mine sat on my foot with a camping stool and caused a significant amount of soft tissue damage in my foot and ankle. 5 months after being told that it was not broken and would heal in 3 weeks, I was still unable to walk more then a mile without pretty significant pain. As a lifelong athlete and fitness enthusiast, I have had plenty of injuries but this was easily one of the most frustrating, "bang your head at the wall" type of injuries to solve. With all of my lifelong injuries in mind, this one took me out of everything I loved to, longer than anything else. After working with another health professional I trust, I was referred to Dr. Emily and Dr. Erin. Dr. Emily is not only a fantastic chiropractor but also an amazing person. You'll love coming to the office because of its incredibly relaxing atmosphere. I'm so impressed by Dr. Emily and Dr. Erin! I started visiting their practice in October after I met them at a wellness fair. In September and November, I had whip lash symptoms after being rear-ended multiple times within a short timespan. I love the attention to detail from the staff at the Mayo Chiropractic in Pacific Beach, San Diego. My main issue was a sliding hiatal hernia and it's healing quickly with their expertise - they even assist with my jaw (TMJ) which has had issues for years, along with aligning my pelvis which has been a cause of some many ailments and now everything is healing!!! Dr.Emily was quick to respond to the email I sent her requesting information for my 2 month old baby. My baby had been suffering from constipation, hard stool, for 2 weeks. About 2 months ago I went in to be assessed for really bad upper back/neck pain, and a muscle strain under my shoulder blade from a work injury. I immediately felt cared for with their explanations and sensitive approach during the assessment, and gained relief each session I had. In the beginning I switched between both chiropractors who both had the same focus for me, but slightly different styles each session which was really enjoyable and allowed me to expedite my learning and self awareness of not only my physical health, but mental and emotional health. My parents suffered from a severe car accident several years ago and were too afraid to make use of the covered chiropractic services they could have received for free (other party was at fault) to help with recovery. My mom always thought, if it was slowly getting better, than that was good enough. After hearing about the impact, I had pushed for them to get care where they live, in Dallas, but they were just not open to it at all. It had been 5 years already and my mom still had a significant amount of head/neck/back pain and limited movement. I heard about Emily's chiropractic work through a yoga friend. My buddy specifically said that Emily was very gentle and would do well at making my parents feel at ease. I was hoping that if my parents saw her during their SD visit, perhaps they would even open up to regular chiropractic care when they returned to Dallas. Upon entering Emily's practice, we noticed the office felt quite serene. There was a nice waiting area, children's play area, and very comfortable chiro tables she did her work on. Throughout the entire adjustment she explained to us what she was measuring/observing and then her plan of action, always checking in with my mom if she thought it was OK making sure to stay within her comfort zones. Surprisingly, it was so relaxing my mom nearly dozed off when she was laying on her stomach. Emily wrapped up the session with rubbing some essential oils onto her tight trap muscles. Needless to say, they were looking forward to coming back for a second visit a few days later before they left San Diego. I am 7 months pregnant and have been going to Dr. Emily for the past few months. I can't tell you what a difference it has made in my physical capabilities and comfortability! Before seeing Emily my back was constantly bothering me (likely mostly due to the excess of the hormone relaxin when pregnant). Even though I was physically fit, working out, and making sure my core was strong, the relaxin causes your ligaments and joints to loosen up, making it much more likely to become mis-aligned. I live a pretty active life in San Diego, like so many of the city's patrons, but sometimes all the fun comes at a cost. For me, it's my hamstrings -- I feel constantly plagued by what I've self-diagnosed as High Hamstring Tendinopathy (HHT), as well as some intermittent sciatica. My ability to stretch my hamstrings on my own has been greatly reduced in the last year, a significant impediment to my yoga practice and running routine. When the HHT is really acting up running and even basic leg movements become significantly distressful. I've known Dr. Emily for a long while and recommend Mayo Chiropractic to friends with bodily ailments quite often, but I never knew that she could help with my hamstring issues as well. Turns out, her clinic really is a Center for Life and even after the first treatment I noticed a huge difference. My sciatica has disappeared, resulting from the sacrum adjustment she gave me (the sacrum is quite important!) and her techniques of alleviating my hamstring tension have proven incredibly effective. A series of just a few treatments showed progressive improvement each time, and the exercises and stretches she gave me to do at home allow me to continue towards full recovery on my own.
