As someone who has had back pain and been going to the chiropractor since I was (literally) 15 years old, It's been a huge relief to be working myself OUT of care rather than a perpetual visit to align the areas that need alignment temporarily. I've been a patient of Dr. Kathireson now for about 16 months. This review is LONG overdue, but the benefit to me having waited so long is that I get to give you a longer roadmap picture of what my experience has been like with Dr. Kathireson and Anatomy Chiropractic. I went to Dr. Kathireson after having had some neck and upper back pain for quite a while, after hearing from my cousin about the wonders of the Atlas Orthogonal modality. My cousin had experienced migraines for years and after getting aligned has no longer experienced migraines. So I went in and met with Dr. Kathireson. First of all, Dr. Kathireson was incredibly knowledgeable, very friendly, and listened well to my concerns and needs. He explained the process thoroughly, and gave me an idea of what to expect cost-wise from the process, clearly outlining for me why he does the steps in the way he does (i.e. taking an x-ray before and after alignment to see the results) while giving me the choice on whether I did the x-ray afterwards in case I was cost conscious. Admittedly, when we got to the point of doing the C1 alignment, I was nervous given the size of the machine. Dr. Kathireson was understanding and even gave me the opportunity to demonstrate the very slight amount of pressure it exerts by having me hold my finger to it while he activated the device. It's truly a very light puff of air pressure, which made me breathe a sigh of relief before the alignment was done. Since then, I think it's important to share with you what my experience was like in terms of C1 alignment. Dr. Kathireson explained beforehand that typically the first alignment can last around a month or so (but varies per patient due to a number of factors), but that generally each time you do the alignment the amount of time in which you stay aligned tends to double. My experience was even better than that. In my experience, here's what my schedule looked like for C1 alignment. 1 month 2 months 13 months I went from 1 month, to 2 months, to 13 months. I've never been to a chiropractor before that had a goal of working me out of care. This is Dr. Kathireson's goal- to get you to a point where you either need him for very rare maintenance or not at all. This is the sign of a Doctor who cares deeply about their patients. It's not about getting you in as often as possible ($$), but instead about getting you the care you need until you don't need it anymore (or need it very infrequently). I think it's also very worth mentioning that I've been a bit blown away by the number of other things that Dr. Kathireson has been able to help me with. I had complained about wrist pain, which he was able to help me fix (completely) with some minor adjustments and a wrist brace (to the point that I don't need any adjustments or wrist brace anymore). I had mentioned that I was having bad acid reflux, and he checked and found that I had a hiatal hernia, which he was able to adjust back into place (this one has been a bit trickier for me in that I need to do more cardio to get the muscle built up to prevent this from reoccuring, and so far I still have a ways to go). My experience from beginning to end with Anatomy Chiropractic has been fantastic. Both Olivia and Edna at the front desk are wonderful: so kind, friendly, welcoming, and helpful with any questions I've had. For anyone who has insurance (like me) where this is out of network, I also went through the process of asking the amazing staff at Anatomy to give me a superbill that was itemized and coded for insurance, and they happily obliged. I've been able to get about 70% of my costs covered through insurance for this reason, which makes it so much more manageable financially. Dr. Kathireson is the real deal. I have chronic pain in my neck, thoracic, shoulder and lumbar region. I'm 4 weeks into my treatment plan and my body is the best its felt in the past few years. I've gone to UCSF Spine Center, physical therapy sessions, deep tissue massages, and other chiropractors before. My body's condition is noticeably better now than from those past treatments. I feel like it might be the specialized technique that is practiced at this office along with laser therapy (which I've never gotten before until now). The adjustments I've been getting are micro adjustments. I never knew you could get adjusted without the bone cracking! It's a very precise adjustment that only moves what is needed. I came into Anatomy Chriopratic for constant neck pain that I had been having for a whole week. I slept on a couch for a couple nights and I guess you can't do that when you're over 30. Anyways, when you first drive into anatomy it is located in the adorable Hillcrest neighborhood with ample parking. There are 2 grocery stores and a bunch of other cute shops in the plaza. First going into the visit, I was warmly greeted. They have a price list available of their services (which are super reasonable) so there are no surprises. Another thing I wasn't expecting - they actually take X- rays before and after tour treatment so you can SEE the impact. I guess my head was tilted and one leg was 1/4 inch shorter than the other...which I did NOT realize. Dr. Loharun took her time to explain my treatment plan, which would fix my neck pain long term! It's definitely not a bandaid treatment. The technique they use utilizes sound vibrations, which itself are painless and gentle. The x rays they take allow them to make very precise adjustments and let me tell you - they work! After one treatment my head was noticeably less tilted. I have lived with chronic pain since around 2018 and it has completely stolen my quality of life in every way. It's widespread and there really isn't any part of my body that doesn't experience pain. I can't say enough good about Dr. Kathireson! I would NOT think of him as a chiropractor but as a musculoskeletal expert. When I started with Dr. Kathireson, I'd just completed 6 1/2 months with another chiropractor, 3 days/week for a few months to start. I was suffering from mid back pain, neck and shoulder tightness that caused headaches. I started with Dr. Kathireson in early April. This is end of July. I left on a 2 week vacation that included 6 long days walking in Europe, some of it pulling my luggage-I felt good! Normal! I didn't use muscle relaxing lotion, cold packs, or a foam roller, OR muscle relaxant meds, all of which I needed regularly when Dr. Kathireson first started treating me. I saw him yesterday , 3 weeks after my last visit, and he adjusted my spine but also mostly adjusted my muscles! He said i was very tight but that my c1 and c2 had held nicely. Sure enough, i don't feel tight today at all. I was very impressed that even though my spine has healed so much (including arthritis in my neck), he's continuing his care by giving me exercises as homework over the next week to strengthen my lower traps.
