These people are rude, un-helpful, discourteous and unprofessional. The lot is dirty and mis-managed. And, if you're there before 10a.m. you have to park up four floors.
I don't even think they deserve one star but I couldn't choose zero.
I agree with Lira. This garage is the absolute worst garage I have ever been in.
Like her, I had to back up because I didn't have the money. However, I wasn't just short the twenty cents. I lost my wallet. And even though they never once have checked my I.D. they insisted that I couldn't call a family member to use their card number temporarily because they let someone do that once and it wasn't someone else's card. Hypocrites. If you're worried about someone stealing other people's identities/cards, check the identification every time. So I had to back up, call someone from where I live (which is at least a half-hour commute) and have them drive out to physically hand me the money. And of course they charged me for another hour because of how long this all took.
When I went to leave that time, the man at the booth was on his phone. The only way he even acknowledged that I was there was by pointing to the fee after I handed him my ticket. He gave me my change without exchanging a word (unless it was to his phone). I asked for a receipt and he looked at me like I was rude for interrupting.
I work in Ann Arbor. So I have given this parking structure more than it's fair share of business. In the evenings, there is a guy that is incredibly rude. He reads or watches some handheld device and every time I pull up, he rolls his eyes. He tells my my total and sighs loudly if I ask for a receipt.
That has happened at least three times. I seriously feel like my blood is about to boil when I am close to this building.
I lost my ticket one day and bit the bullet and paid the $24 dollars which is more than a rip-off since I only worked for four hours. I couldn't help but cry because that was just about what I had made working that day.
I work 6a.m. many Monday mornings and park in this structure. It bothers me going in because the gates to leave are still up for free parking on Sundays but I know I still have to take a ticket because by they time I get out of working, someone will be working the toll both and asking for money. Just yesterday though- not only were the entrance and exit gates all up but the ticket machine was covered with a bag that read, "free parking". I know parking is free on Sundays, that's why the gates are up when I drive in early on most Mondays but the sign is never there. I took a picture. When I went to leave, the gates were down and there were two people at the booth. They said nothing. There was the guy who puts money in his teeth- the one that covers for everyone's breaks- and a woman. They both just looked at me. So I explained that the sign said free parking.
The woman argued with me, telling me the sign wouldn't have said free parking. I told her I had a picture. She ignored that and started talking to the guy. The guy said they'd have to charge me since six. After some hesitation, they asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and I said yes. Over the walkee, she explained my situation and they said to tell me to pay. She confirmed that she tried and once again requested the manager. We sat for a few minutes and he comes up, in a huff.
"Are you not familiar with Ann Arbor or something?" was his opening line. He was nothing but rude. I have a hard time imagining that anyone would put this man in control of anything. He cut me off several times, raised his voice at me, argued with me, said I was wrong when I explained how it is every time I come in on Mondays, didn't believe that I have parked in there several times, etc. I explained that the sign should say "Free Parking Sunday" or "Holiday" (since this was the day after Christmas) and then I would have understood- like other Mondays that I would have to pay by the time someone got there- which would be when I got out of work. (The sign did not say "Free Parking until our lazy asses get up and take down the signs".) It simply said free parking. I mention that I get ripped off left and right and he argued that, like a two year old would by saying, "no you don't." Really?
This man was rude, unprofessional, mean even, and instead of using rules or laws or even and even temper to explain the situation, he started yelling at me and threatening to call the cops if I didn't pay. He complained that I was holding up his business. If he was kind, or able to control his actions and simply explain things in the way a manager should have been able, I would have paid when he got there. He was the only thing holding up his business. I ended up, giving my card to the woman and she charged me from six am. The "manager" who never introduced himself was still standing there yelling at me. I informed him that he was getting his money, he was rude and he could leave now. And he still insisted on finished before he left. read more
