You go up to the gate, say what airline you're flying on, and then the gate attendant sends you to a parking section. Sometimes it's very far away in the lot and other times it's right up front. Likewise with following the bus in. If you follow the bus in, it will wait for you to park and unload, if you don't you may have to stand there for a bit until one comes through. They are reliable and they provide "door to door" service by picking you up at your vehicle almost as soon as you park, and immediately take you to the airport. Prices aren't bad either. The terminal is always clean, there are options for eating and drinking and also travel shops for purchases pre or post flight. The terminal is way long so they have a tram that will take you from one end to the other. A nice feature if you have a disability, small children, or are just lazy and don't like to walk. I walk, get those steps and stay fit. Flying home tonight on a Delta flight back to vegas. It's a little stormy, so it should be a bumpy ride. I had to come in before my flight, because the rapid rewards for Southwest did not update my last name change from over three years ago. Cost me $4 dollars to park for less than 20 minutes. This is how the airport makes so much money. The blue deck is very convenient, as long as your flight is out of the North terminal. If your flight is out of Delta and the McNamara terminal, you'll need to take a shuttle to get there.

There's a great variety of restaurants, shops, and places to relax before catching a flight. I especially appreciate how easy it is to navigate the McNamara Terminal, even though it's quite large! I've flown out of DTW many times, and it's always a pleasure. From the airport atmosphere to the convenience of flying Delta, it's a great way to start a vacation! Lots of places to eat, drink and shop at including a few local breweries like Jolly Pumpkin and Atwater. I decided to kill some time and walk the entire terminal on my last visit. I discovered a few interesting things like a lottery vending machine, salad vending machine (Farmers Fridge), duty free and an Air Margaritaville. I'll have to check that place out next time. The bathrooms are pretty good, could use an update but not the worst I've been in. Lots of art around the terminal too.
