Flaky trout, plump popcorn shrimp, crispy chicken tenders, all good and satisfying.
Teresa T.

When I visit Asheboro, I love to get Mayflowers. Take out is separated from the dine in area. As always, I took my food to go but this time a little different. I took the food home to High Point. I was impressed to find it still warm once I got home. I don't have any problem with it being cold knowing the time it took to travel from one city to another. I ordered my usual for takeout seafood, 3 combination with coleslaw and baked potato. Nothing spectacular about it, it's just good. Flaky trout, plump popcorn shrimp, crispy chicken tenders, all good and satisfying.

Fire Hazard

I'm going to be petty because this made me upset and I want some opinions on this ordeal. I was told at The mayflower in asheboro nc that I could not have my stroller because it was considered a fire hazard but this was in the way right after I moved my stroller, in the exact spot. Make it make sense. On top of this issue, the food was nasty, and manager was a rude person to deal with. We had a large party and was not informed about the tip being added into the total amount but we all chipped in the end and gave our waitress $71 cash after she automatically got $50 dollars from our church card. she deserved all the money because she was wonderful to deal with. BUT the manager insisted on getting the cash back from her because 1) she didn't inform our party of the added tip 2) she didn't think she needed THAT much tip. Honey.. please. We gave that money right back to her. Bad food Unfair management Crummy customer service

Shrimp Oyster's and Deviled crab with fries

I wanted to try a different place. So I was by myself and knew I would not have to argue with a soul on where to go.I chose Mayflower Seafood in Ashboro. Now Mayflower is located in the lower part of town heading towards Randleman.I get there at 7:50 finding out they close at 8:00.I was told to come on in I had time to get some food.I was quickly seated and my waitress took my drink order a food order.I chose a 3 way.Shrimp, oysters and a deviled crab.My plate came out quickly.I as hoping for a bowl of hush puppies like a few places do but I guess they don't without an order. My food was hot.I was not crazy about their cocktail sauce. But the tarter was spot on.My waitress never let my tea glass go empty.I did have to get a togo box for my leftovers. My dog sitting in the backseat approved the fries a few shrimp I gave her.My service was good.My food was okay.

If you want good seafood in Winston, don't go here. Over-cooked, over-priced, skimpy portions, tastes like raw bait. Never again for me!

Inside is a huge bar and looks like all seating is at the bar. It had a Key West/marine/beach vibe to it and they play great music. The staff was attentive and friendly. Was given their house potatoes and Cole slaw with the Fish n Chips and everything was delicious. Very generous portions, food comes out hot and cooked perfectly. My second visit was just as delightful. Had the Shrimp Boil platter with corn, sausage and garlic toast. It was super yummy! Highly recommend!

Even better than Mr Bs Bistro in New Orleans. Pair that with their free potato salad and coleslaw, and get their French bread loaf to dip into the sauce. That's an unforgettable meal. The bread is hot and fresh with a buttery soft center and crisp exterior crust. Start with their charcoal oysters. Again. Best I've ever had. No joke. And to top it off the blackened branzino from their Friday special. I can't wait to get back there. As if the food wasn't enough, their service is top notch. A true 5 star restaurant experience crammed into a mom and pop hole in the wall price.

We started with the chargrilled patters - Smokey, herby, buttery, and insanely delicious. And the snow crab legs were perfectly seasoned and easy to crack. The salmon dinner was cooked to perfection - flaky, flavorful, and had the perfect crust. They bring out coleslaw and potatoes to eat while you wait on the rest and it's a perfect starter to the experience! A tasty little appetizer while you wait for the main event. The service is friendly and attentive, the vibe is open and beachy, making it perfect for a lunch or relaxed dinner. The inside seating is mostly bar seating, it does get packed, and does not take reservations. You can expect to wait if you come at dinner time but it's SO worth it.

The layout of the restaurant was interesting with large central bars. The menu is the star at this restaurant being a seafood lovers dream. Aw a walk in it took about 45 mins to get seated but with Adjacency to good local bars time flew past. The service you received was as good as could be expected with a busy bay. The shrimp cocktail was tasty but the shrimp are extremely small and only 6 so definitely not a shareable. I had the chargrilled oysters and they had great potential. All the flavors were there but they were left a bit too long to cook and half my order was burnt. The soup was phenomenal, as was the peel and eat shrimp. I would love to go back on a day that isn't as hectic and hope for better oyster. The potato salad did make up for a couple of the black shells.

I went in to check on our order and they had just told my husband it would be 5 more minutes. We got it 20 minutes later and when we got home the dumplings were cold. While we were there two different people came in for their order that was called in and were told they didn't have their order. Also, another man came to pick up his and he waited for a while then asked how much longer it would be. They said another 10 minutes and he canceled his order. It seemed that the only orders they were filling were Door Dash and not online orders (that must be paid for ahead of time) or call ins. When I asked why it took an 90 minutes from the time the order was placed until we got it all they could say was they had been very busy. No apology or trying to make it right.

Another factor was, even though I was the only one in there when I walked in, many groups of people started coming in either to pick up takeout or to have lunch inside. The flavors were amazing and it had some kick, just an FYI, if you don't like any more than mildly spicy they also offer brown rice, which I forgot to order, but nonetheless, my dish was delicious.

I quickly scanned their hefty bloody mary menu and ordered the Lobstrocity, featuring veggies, shrimp, a grilled cheese sandwich and a fresh lobster tail atop a sizeable glass of the main concoction. This was definitely a meal in a glass! It was all quite delicious and filling, and I was glad I'd opted out of any of the optional add-ons like filet mignon, crab claws, or frog legs. Of course, I still had to order half a dozen raw oysters for dessert. And no, I won't be eating for the rest of the day! What made this a 5 star experience was our phenomenal server, Trevor. He was fast, friendly, and always nearby to clear empty plates or offer drink refills.

We started with the mojito flight, which was honestly a fun way to kick things off. The Lavender and Blood Orange were my favorites, but the Chipotle Pineapple had a surprisingly good smoky-sweet balance, and even the Desert Pear was refreshing without tasting overly syrupy. For appetizers, the fried calamari disappeared fast -- crispy, tender, and not greasy at all. The New England clam chowder was rich and comforting, and the lobster scallop bisque was probably the sleeper hit of the night. Creamy, decadent, and loaded with flavor without being overwhelmingly heavy. The Virginia oysters were... fine. Fresh enough, but they didn't really stand out compared to everything else we ordered. Now for the stars of the table: the frog legs and the COCONUT CURRY PEI MUSSELS. The frog legs were perfectly fried and surprisingly delicate, but those mussels? Easily the best dish of the night. The coconut curry broth was ridiculously good -- rich, aromatic, slightly sweet with a little heat. Still, the food itself was strong enough that I'd absolutely come back, especially for those mussels and another round of mojitos. Solid 4-star seafood spot for Holly Springs.
