Food was okay for the price, we order the veggie fritters (basically veggie tempura) and a lobster roll with homemade crispy chips. The service was nice especially for the price you pay for everything and they were very concern about my toddlers happiness during our meal. There are hotels, and then there are places that understand hospitality as a kind of quiet choreography -- every detail considered before you've even arrived. The Mayflower Inn is the latter, and it made the perfect setting for my mother's 60th birthday, a milestone I wanted to get exactly right. Alyssa set the tone from the very start, corresponding with us ahead of arrival to make sure everything was in place, and made check-in feel effortless and warm. The valet who greeted our car was just as thoughtful -- right on time, attentive to the small details, and unbothered even when the parking situation got a little tricky, sorting it out without missing a beat. Jackie and Sophia were both wonderful throughout the stay, warm and easy to talk to at every turn. We had lunch at The Garden Room, and dinner that evening at The Tap Room, where Brandon took wonderful care of us -- attentive without ever being intrusive, and full of good recommendations. Gabriel, who handled our room service, made sure we had everything we needed down to the smallest detail. I do want to note one exception: when I tried to get more information about services from Estefani Levine, I found her cold and dismissive, a real contrast to the warmth everyone else on staff showed us. It didn't ruin the stay, but it stood out precisely because it was so out of step with the rest of the team. The property itself is a quiet showstopper. Our room looked out over a beautifully kept pool, its striped umbrellas and crisp white loungers waiting in the late-summer sun, and we spent a lovely afternoon by a fire pit tucked into the garden, with rattan seating and soft blue pillows scattered under the trees. Inside, a cozy little library corner -- floor-to-ceiling shelves, a cobalt blue lamp, an Audubon print on the wall -- was the kind of spot that makes you want to curl up with a book and not leave. We wandered the chef's garden, admired the Shakespeare maze, and let the whole trip slow all the way down. The team also arranged the loveliest touches for my mother's birthday: a chilled bottle of champagne, a hand-tied bouquet of sunflowers and hydrangea waiting in the room, a handwritten welcome card, and a beautiful little "Happy Birthday" dessert plate at dinner with a candle-topped treat. It was such a sweet, personal way to mark the occasion, and it meant so much to celebrate her with [her partner] there too. Dinner and room service were exactly what you'd hope for at a property like this -- beautifully executed. If I have one small note for next time, it's that we'd hoped to make it into the town of Washington Depot itself and didn't quite have the time -- something we'll build into the schedule on our next visit. A couple of games on hand for a quiet evening in -- Scrabble, checkers -- wouldn't go amiss either. All told, this was a first stay that set a very high bar, and one that made celebrating my mother's 60th birthday feel every bit as special as it should. We'll be back. read more

We had a wonderful time at the Mayflower Inn & look forward to returning. The food, drink, decor, ambiance, experience classes & most notably the service from the staff was incredible. Can't remember when we had better service recently.. everyone was awesome! Standouts from the staff were Emily, Michelle, Chef Luke, Danilo, Eric, Jillian & Joe. The property is beautiful and is a wonderful place to have a relaxing vacation. We had an issue at the Spa but the staff took care of it promptly. Important to make sure a 60 minute massage is not 48 minutes instead. I believe the guest should decide the tip based on service and not have a mandatory 22% applied. No incentive to the spa staff to give a quality, properly timed massage. Other than that, it was a perfect visit! read more

The Mayflower is always a great spot for excellent food and cocktails. Dinner included the cavatelli, pressed chicken, butternut squash soup and the house salad. Highly recommend their espresso martinis and their pistachio martini as a dessert drink. read more

Our dinner was meh, I think this place is just as overhyped as the Inn which can fetch up to $2500 a night. The menu was not inspiring despite their best efforts to use locally sourced items. Paying $25 for some grilled lettuce is just crazy to me. Drinks will fetch you just about that as well. Even the kids grilled cheese at $18 is insane. We had a table of 10, 3 which ate off the kid menu, and the bill still was $1,000. Now if the food had wowed me it would have been a differnt story, but not so much in this case. Our table tried several items, only ones not pictured were the steak and kids burger, but nobody was impressed despite the high expectations in advance. The sourdough and homemade butter was good though, although the butter was pretty salty. read more

Really great brunch experience. The room is nicely decorated and the ceiling panels have nicely designed acoustic absorption. The garden grounds are beautiful. On to the food. Everything was super fresh and well prepared. The eggs in purgatory was really well prepared. The bagel platter was nicely presented and the lox, ceramic cheese, and feta were all top quality. We enjoyed an outdoor evening pianist and light faire. Servers and hosts were friendly and accommodating. We would love to visit again to enjoy the restaurants which are open to the public. It is a very peaceful, quiet, well manicured setting and grounds. read more

Visited this location since Gilmore Girl's was inspired by it. It was highly decorative with fall decorations. A group of us girls were walking around and a gentleman came outside and took our group picture and asked where we were coming from. I cannot tell if he came out just to check on what we were doing or if he was genuinely being kind. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and be grateful we got a group picture! read more

My husband and I came here with our four year old son and had a great experience. It was such a nice change of pace from the city. The staff were all lovely. We dined in the restaurant, spent time on the grounds, swam and played tennis. My son loved the kids pasta dish, and we all enjoyed our meals. We appreciated the emphasis on local ingredients and making things in house. The winter swim hours for children are minimal, but my son and I are up early, so it worked out okay for us. We stopped in at the end of our Gilmore Girls Day in New Milford and Washington Depot. The staff at the door welcomed us in and showed us around. We stopped in at the bar and met Jordan, the amazing bartender. She was so friendly and took a genuine interest in getting to know us. We had dinner there last night and while the service was terrific , the meal was not .. the Denver steak was as tough as leather we also had the crab, rice and bean dish which was quite fishy as though the crab wasn't even cooked. For those prices, we had expected more! We had stayed there before and eaten in the garden room as well, but won't be back after last night! read more

Disappointing on many levels and has clearly gone downhill as evidenced by the reviews here. Came here for a 24 hour solo getaway only to find subpar service and worse food. For the amount you're paying here, you can do far better. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more

This was the first time we were back in about 20 years and both the Inn and restaurant were great disappointments. The room was fine but was not nearly as cozy and inviting as it was under the original ownership or when it was a Relais and Chateaux property. The bathroom needed quite a bit of updating. The restaurant was stark and kind of austere and not nearly as inviting and warm as it used to be. The food was pretty flavorless and the service was perfunctory. We understand that there is an emphasis on spa cuisine, but spices should compensate for low fat. That was not apparent here. The bar was nice but with tables reserved only for Pub dining, it felt cramped. The saving grace for the property was the spa which was terrific. We have been to several Auberge properties over the years and this one fell far below the standards that we have come to expect from them. read more

We drove all the way from Greenwich C.T. to try the brunch at the Garden Room at this inn. I can't say enough about how disappointing the entire experience was from the beginning. First of all the room is small noisy and very unattractive, it more like a cheap hotel with dated furniture and wallpaper, just dreadful.. The real issues started with a very rude and inexperienced watress. They made us wait over 10 minutes before someone came over to ask if we would like a drink. We ordered and asked for some of their sourdough bread which never arrived. We placed our order for brunch and asked that they bring the oatmeal first and the remaining order to follow. They brought everything at the same time and we had to send back the order until we ate to iced cold oatmeal. When they brought out our salad and hamburger, the salad was drenched in dressing and was soggy and not eatable. The hamburger was raw as if they just put raw meat on a bun even though I asked for medium. No one came around to check if everything was ok and we couldn't find someone to get us another drink and tell them about the issues with the food. When they finally came all they said was I will speak to the chef, can you imagine giving customers that kinda of reply, they totally didn't care about the food being so bad. I am not sure who rates these restaurants with good ratings but take it from me this place is not even up to the standards of a good Greek diner, it is just awful in every way and shows how getting 5 star ratings is truly fabricated. Don't waste a single dime on coming here as you will regret wasting your money and time. STAY-FAR AWAY FROM THIS DUMP. read more

Have been here a number of times and it is very good, but not as good as it should be for the prices. The dining room is beautiful. We had a wonderful lunch and then walked around the gardens. I have also had dinner in the bar area - it is cozy and dark, better for winter evenings. The spa, called The Well was a highlight for me. It is really special and has everything you could ask for in a full service spa - fitness classes, pool, spa treatments, tons of amenities and a full spa dining menu.
