It needed to be removed along with a portion of his jawbone. While the tumor is benign, without surgery it would eventually destroy a dog's mouth, causing terrible suffering and ultimately death. Although the surgery is considered common, there was nothing common about trying to find a place that could perform it without leaving me in financial hardship for years. The estimates I received from private clinics ranged from $15,000 to $20,000. At one point, I almost had to say goodbye to my boy. Then I called UC Davis and scheduled an appointment. From my first call to the surgery itself, the entire process took about a week. They prioritize cases based on urgency, which I truly appreciated. The entire staff was amazing. Not only was Dr. Ingrid wonderful, but every doctor and team member treated their patients as if they were their own family members. Dr. Ingrid was patient, compassionate, and took the time to explain everything to me. We went ahead with the surgery, and I paid about a third of what I had been quoted elsewhere. Most importantly, Brownie is recovering beautifully. I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for this clinic and its staff. They offer snacks, drinks, as well as blankets for humans because it gets quite cold in there. Everyone there was kind and friendly. You could really tell they were dedicated to their job and providing the best experience for their patients. My princess loved being able to watch everyone walk around her and was completely content. The doctor even sat with her when we were finally seen so she wouldn't have to be moved. :) All the staff talked to her like a baby whenever they addressed her which made me happy too. Really shows they love animals. Paid about $660 to find out she didn't have a lot of poop in her, but the peace of mind was worth it. Getting to see how they take x-rays was cool too, even if my poor baby had to be manhandled hehe. The bill was much cheaper than I expected, which was nice. After it works then they reverse it with a shot. Then they rehydrated her via IV. Followed by charcoal mixed with baby food to absorb anything left. Lacy stayed with us the entire time, it seemed like most pets stayed with their person. During our close to 2 hours there I witnessed a ton of tug on your heartstrings stuff. I watched them treat a lot of dogs for different things, someone brought in their snake. Everyone working there was calm and gentle with the pets and the people. Emergency vet isn't cheap but I am so grateful to them. Lacy is feeling fine now. We have now nicknamed that cake our 1000 dollar cake;) If your pet needs them I highly recommend!

We brought in our Pomeranian because he was experiencing significant pain. I was expecting the visit to go like other visits I had before at other vet emergency hospitals, where they whisk your pet away and you spend all of your time waiting and wondering what is happening. Instead, we were escorted to a nice padded bench (that he promptly shed all over, sorry if you are still finding fur there) and most of the examinations and work was done there. The staff was so kind and friendly, coming over to check on us and give him pats and so much love. There was another emergency surgery happening when we arrived, so they were giving us constant updates to make sure we knew what was going on. When I spoke to the vet, she was kind and gave specific recommendations (rather than a past emergency vet experience where they just gave us options and expected us to know what to do). Unfortunately, it became clear that our Pomeranian was not doing well, as he started displaying severe neurological symptoms and declined rapidly despite the treatment for his pain and a UTI. The vet ultimately suspected a brain tumor based on his behavior, and was very upfront and clear with us about his chances. Although it was devastating, we really appreciated how honest they were. We made the difficult decision to put him down (he had declined so quickly he probably would not have lasted the night), and everyone was so kind during the process. They gave us time to be with him and were so kind and sympathetic during the process. Although I am still heartbroken at losing our dog, the fact that we were able to spend so much of his last day actually being with him was something we really treasured, especially since the loss was so unexpected.

The level of care is outstanding and I know my pup is in good hands here while she proceeds through her treatment with great results. Aside from the level of care, the facility is brand new. It is never crowded; it's clean, well-appointed, and doesn't feel like a hospital. Overall, I am very pleased with Vista and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs emergency care or a specialist for their pet.

Our Lab was considered low priority, presenting with a supposed right leg sprain. Had we known there was only one vet and another one expected around noon we would have chosen a different facility instead of waiting. We left feeling let đown, frustrated and angry. We used this facility for the same dog, Charli, in 2021 during Covid at their old facility. I even brought the paper work because it was a similar injury. We would have appreciated if staff would have been transparent by letting us know there were too many patients and not enough vets. I'm very disappointed because I expected better from Vista.

A staff member comes out with a form for you to fill out & then you wait in your car until they're ready to see your pet. The process was organized and it didn't take nearly as long as we expected. We were finished and heading home by around 1:30am! Our vet tech Bri & the veterinarian, Dr. Renee Case were both incredibly kind, knowledgeable & compassionate. They took great care of our dog, thoroughly explained everything and sent us home with medication to help her recover. If you ever need an emergency vet, I would definitely recommend All Creatures. They provided excellent care and we also found their pricing to be very reasonable especially for an after-hours emergency visit. I also love that they don't try to sell you on additional items as well. I did not want her in pain so I called All Creatures Emergency Vet and was told I didn't need an appointment, to just show up when I could. It was a 35 minute drive and when I arrived, the door was locked. I knocked but didn't see anyone. After a few minutes, another woman walked up and said "They do this. You gotta bang." She knocked on the door repeatedly until someone came outside. It took a few more minutes. We were put in a room immediately and proceeded to wait about an hour to be seen by the vet tech. To be fair, a dog that had been hit by car came in after we were in the room. From what we heard it was already deceased. Then, a woman brought in a her friend's dog she was supposed to be caring for and told the staff she wasn't sure if it was breathing. Based on what they said, that dog was also deceased. The vet tech was not very personable and she took our dogs temperature rectally but with zero skill and after what seemed like 5 minutes, was finally done. It was not a good experience. After we spoke to the tech, we asked for water for our dog, which was brought and waited another 15 min or so for the vet. Dr. Case took a look at our dog and I explained I was concerned about a UTI and gave her history of bladder stone removal and kidney issues. I also asked her to look at a bump on my dogs leg, since we were already there and at my dogs advanced age I am always worried about her cancer returning. The estimate for X-rays for that was well over $400 so I said I would have my regular vet do it on my next visit the following week. Without the x-rays for the bump, the estimate was $520 for the emergency exam, urinalysis, and medication if needed. We agreed and the vet tech came back in (I thought to get our dog for tests) and told us that we would need to pay up front before they would start the process. I have never experienced that before but we gave her a credit card to charge. Once she did that, she returned and took our dog back to extract urine. I went to the restroom shortly thereafter and there was a man at the desk with his dog. The same vet tech was giving him an estimate and, right in front of me said, "Don't worry, you can wait to pay until everything is done." Look, I get that this is Stockton and although I was surprised by the pay first attitude, I can't say I didn't understand. Every business has the right to decide if they want people to prepay or pay after, but to pick and chose with seemingly no reason or standard is totally unprofessional. Also, just a note, but if you read through most of the reviews, as I had time to do during my long wait, you will see that most of the 5 stars are from people whose animals were euthanized here and most of the 1 stars are from people who brought in their sick animals looking for help. Our dog was brought back promptly and we waited another hour before the vet returned. She said there was bacteria in my dogs urine and they gave us antibiotics but they did not have the correct dosage for my small dog so they gave me large pills (with no break line) and said to cut them in half myself and give them to my dog. Of course I was concerned that when I broke the pills, small pieces would scatter and she would not be getting the full dose which obviously happened. After the first few days we noticed that our dog was getting no relief from the antibiotics and scheduled the first available appointment with our regular vet. When she completed the full course, I emailed All Creatures Emergency Vet to confirm that they had found bacteria and ask if they tested to ensure they gave the correct antibiotics because it had not helped. It took them 3 days to respond. The response was that I should get a "urinalysis with culture and sensitivity sent to the laboratory...Or maybe there is no infection and she has cystitis." We saw our regular vet and she is now doing much better after weeks of being uncomfortable. Long story short: We spent 3 hours and over $500 for our dog not to feel better.

We waited only about an hour to be seen--we were lucky that they weren't too busy. The veterinarian on duty, Dr. Robin Schaffner, was thorough and painstaking. She recommended blood and urine tests and suggested waiting for the results before deciding on the next course of action. I really appreciated that she didn't prescribe medication "just in case." She took the time to find out what was actually going on before treating Ruthie. A big shout-out to the veterinary technician, Alayna, who showered my nervous-wreck-of-a-dog with love and kindness. Ruthie was clearly much more comfortable because of the care and reassurance she received from her. Dr. Schaffner followed up with us the next day when the bloodwork results came back, which I very much appreciated. The charges were also very fair. I know some people complain about the examination fee being taken up front, but I suspect this has become necessary for the clinic. Veterinary care is expensive to provide, and veterinarians and veterinary technicians certainly don't go into this profession for the money. I'm simply grateful to have a place where my dog is treated with such care, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you, Dr. Schaffner, Alayna, and everyone there who took such good care of Ruthie.

We brought Taz in after he was bitten by a dog, and as stressful as the situation was, the team immediately made us feel like he was in the best hands. Bengals can be intimidating if you've never worked with one before. Taz has a very loud growl, and his meow sounds like he's ready to attack, but he's actually a sweetheart. Because of that, I'm always a little nervous about how people will react to him. Jacob was absolutely amazing. He worked seamlessly alongside the veterinarian, and together they made an incredible team. I was especially impressed with how calm, patient, and confident he was while helping treat Taz's injuries. When it came time to clip and clean the area around the dog bite, Jacob worked with me to keep Taz calm, and together we were actually able to get everything done without having to sedate him. That was huge for us because Taz has always had a very difficult reaction to sedation. Jacob's gentle handling and compassionate approach made all the difference. From the moment we arrived until we left, Jacob was attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in Taz's well-being. He made sure we had everything we needed, checked in on us throughout the visit, and gave Taz plenty of extra pets and reassurance. The thing that impressed me the most is that after roughly ten visits over the years, Jacob is the first person Taz has ever truly liked. If you've ever owned a Bengal, you know that's saying something! My cat, Theodore, suffered a rectal prolapse on a Sunday. It was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever been through. He was in excruciating pain, vomiting, having diarrhea, yelping, and literally had tissue protruding from his body. I genuinely thought I was going to lose him. Before finding Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin, I called well over ten emergency veterinary hospitals throughout Marin and San Francisco. Every single one either had wait times ranging from hours to over ten hours, couldn't perform surgery for days, or simply didn't have the staff to take another emergency. I was driving from place to place and calling anyone I could think of while watching Theodore continue to suffer. By that point, I felt completely helpless. Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin was the only hospital that could take him almost immediately. Within minutes of arriving, he was being evaluated and prepared for surgery. After spending hours hearing "no," finally hearing someone say they could help was something I'll never forget. What impressed me even more was the quality of care. Every single person I interacted with -- from the reception staff, to the nurses, to the discharge team, to the veterinarian -- was compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly communicative. They never made me feel like I was asking too many questions, and they took the time to explain every step of Theodore's care. Theodore had been dealing with a complicated medical situation for months that involved a lot of uncertainty. Their team quickly helped me understand what was happening and what needed to happen next. For the first time in months, I finally felt like I had answers and that Theodore was in the right hands. One thing that really stood out to me was that the care didn't stop when we walked out the door. The follow-up from the doctor and staff has been incredible. Recovering from an emergency like this is overwhelming, but they continued to answer my questions, check in, and make sure Theodore was doing well. I'm happy to say that he's recovering very well, and I'm beyond grateful for everything they've done for both of us. I genuinely cannot thank this team enough. They were there when no one else could be, and I'll never forget that. If your pet is having an emergency, I cannot recommend Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin highly enough.
