I tried to purchase my wedding bands through Mayfair Jewelers. Unfortunately, the service was so poor that we canceled the order and will be going through someone else. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews and am generally patient when people make mistakes (it happens to everyone!). The way a business handles itself when it makes a mistake says a lot about its organizational character, and Mayfair has none.
The counter experience was fine, and the staff was friendly enough to our faces while we were in the store. The follow-up, however, was among the worst I've ever seen. Without revealing too much personal detail, the sales team made a couple of major mistakes handling our orders. They didn't return a phone call within a week, nor did they answer an email sent to their info account. A stroke of luck had our salesman's direct email pop up on google, otherwise I'm not sure we would have ever gotten a response.
When I finally got in touch with them, I got a complete non-apology: "I'm sorry you were unhappy" without answering a single question. I've spent a number of years in customer service, and learned very early on that this is one of the worst and laziest responses you can give to an unhappy customer.
The bands were at least twice as expensive as the "same" bands (same sizes and metals; similar design) at other jewelers, which could lead one into thinking that the service would top-notch and worth the price tag. If you'd like to work with someone friendly, attentive, and with basic customer service skills...skip past Mayfair and head on down to the nearest Walmart for a nice chat with the greeter. I promise you'll leave happier. read more
