    Moved plumbing for bathroom sink.
    Lauren B.

I'm renovating my bathroom and had Mayer Plumbing come out to move the plumbing for my sink over ~6 in. to the left to accommodate a larger vanity. Kevin did a really nice job, explained what he was doing and gave advice. After I get the walls and floors updated, I plan to go back to Mayer for the vanity and toilet install.

I needed the sewer line from the house to the sidewalk replaced. It was supposed to be a 3 day job, ended up being 2-1/2 weeks. A lot of down time due to smoke breaks and hours long lunch breaks. Even my neighbor commented on why wasn't there more work going on. However, the job was finally done and seems to be done well. Even though I was told no less than 3 times by the lead guy on the job they would come back in the spring to straighten out the dirt (over 100' of yard torn up) and several calls and emails to the owner of the business, I never got any help. I was told they don't do 'final grading' but all I wanted was enough dirt to fill in the yard. They took too much dirt away and once all the settling occured I was left with huge gaping holes in my yard 12" to 18" deep. I had to bring in a load of gravel to backfill and 2 truck loads of dirt. Sad to see a company that won't stand behind their word anymore. I chose them because it is a local, family-owned business but I guess paying them $14,000 didn't matter once they had my money.

I got an estimate from Mayer for some plumbing in my rental unit. The tech showed up several hours late...twice, but he did excellent work. I received a call from Mayer telling me that the tech was running behind, which was okay. I switched my schedule at work to accommodate the estimate and the repair. My new valves don't leak like the old ones did and they're better valves. I had six valves replaced, including one to my refrigerator and one pressure control valve for the whole house. It took about two and a half hours and cost $925 dollars for the work to be completed. Mayer installed my furnace back in 2001 also. Great work!

Their kitchen sink was badly clogged and after two weeks of my father insisting that he could fix it I called Action Plumbing. Within one hour of my call they had a guy out there. Turns out my dad was looking at the wrong pipes in the basement and the kitchen sink needed to be snaked as well as have new pipes put in. My dad is a former engineer, used to be able to fix everything and tends to be mistrustful of "repair" services - he admitted that the guy knew what he was doing, was assured that it was done right and that he couldn't have done it himself at age 84:)

He not only explained exactly what the issues were but provided photos. Upon his recommendation, installers Jesse and Darcy arrived the same day to begin installation and were extremely thorough and personable. Sal was extremely professional in sending out their repair person. However, the person who came…read morewas very unfriendly. When I asked him to wear a mask, he refused. When I asked him to check if there was a leak of gas from my furnace, he said everything is in good working condition and there are multiple safety measures to prevent any leak. But when I asked how to be sure there is no leak, he said that is a second step to measure with a meter and it will cost another $89. In any event, I didn't find him to be friendly and helpful to rule out my initial complaint. I did not opt for the second step. No second step for diagnosis was informed by Sal earlier. That said, I guess I must give the business a 5-star rating based on the professional scheduling and followup of the appointment. "One swallow doesn't make a summer' or "one bad day" is not a true reflection of the company. I am changing my rating at Sal's text request personally. It's only changed because I can understand Sal's concern as a businessman. He offered me free service in return but I declined it again. He got me wrong completely. My changed rating is only for the professionalism shown by the reception desk and their follow-up. It is not for the changed picture Ron gave that I asked if Ron wanted me to wear a mask. Who would ask that in one's own house? I was wearing my mask thoughout the encounter. As a 65+ year-old, I must be cautious. I don't need a service person's permission to wear a mask inside my house. Unbelievable. But I thought I must clarify to Sal's reply. Thanks Sal for your prompt response. But, isn't that a courteous way to ask ? - "You might want to wear a mask". He saw I was wearing one and he was entering my residence. Yes, I could have insisted but I think that is rude. Secondly, my complaint was "gas leak" and hence, the request to send someone from your company. I am not disputing any diagnosis. I just placed it before you, so it doesn't happen again.. I don't want any money back either. Service was rendered and I accept your company's policy. However, I thank the reception desk for immediately scheduling the appointment the same day. It was highly professional, including the update they followed up with. I commend you for that. Anyways, thanks for your immediate response. Much appreciated
