Dr. Mayank Patel is, by far, one of the best doctors and surgeons I have ever encountered. He truly felt like a godsend during a very stressful time. He is patient, kind, thorough, incredibly knowledgeable and an expert in Urology & related. He took the time to answer all of my questions, i never felt rushed and went above and beyond to expedite the process from consultation through surgery & after care, which I deeply appreciated. Nurse Practitioner: Heather Smart was equally outstanding--thorough, knowledgeable and attentive. She took the time to address all of my concerns during my initial consultation and made me feel informed and comfortable every step of the way. Jenny at the front desk, Alex, and the entire staff were exceptionally kind, patient and professional. Everyone made me feel welcomed and cared for throughout my experience. They are all true rockstars and I cannot recommend this team highly enough. You will not be disappointed. Thank you all for your exceptional care and support! Much love & gratitude! read more

I called Dr. Patel's office. He has so many phone numbers; it is so confusing. The receptionist answered and said "Hello", but not too friendly. So, I asked if this is Dr. Patel's office. She said "Yes". She could have said, "Hello, this Is Dr. Patel's office. How can I help you?" I asked her if they are accepting new patients and she said, "Yes". I asked if they are accepting Medicare. She said, "Yes, but need a secondary", which we do. She asked if it is PPO, and I said, "Yes". Then she said, you need a referral from a doctor". So I said, "What? We have PPO not HMO". Then she said, "We are so busy you need a referral". What the F? So, I said, "Thank you and goodbye". Dr. Patel, you need front office staff with good phone manners. I don't care how good you are as a doctor, but your front office represents you. read more

Dr. Patel is very intelligent and patient. I've been to so many urologists that did not help. Dr. Patel came up with a diagnosis and a plan. He has a great memory as he remembered conversation from prior visit. The office is run very nicely. Heather, the physician assistant, is knowledgeable and very helpful. I highly recommend this doctor. read more

I have been through stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Dr Patel was my urologist. I went in for exams every 12 months as he recommended. I always told him the meds he was giving me over the years never worked. Instead of doing a mri or biopsy he told me he could do a surgery that was not yet medicare approved but the future. I did not want to be an experiment. He was treating me for benign hyperplastic prostate. He was confident my case was not malignant because I had very low psa and no family history. He claimed my issue was age related. I continued to have issues went to another urologist and the biopsy showed the advanced cancer. Dr Patel has never answered my calls or a letter I sent him or these posts. read more

I've seen this doctor a few times, he's nice and seems knowledgeable. His office, however, is very inefficient and not particularly friendly. Following the old axiom that "how you do one thing is how you do everything," I'm not left feeling terribly confident in the practice overall. In a city with so many options, this would definetly not be my choice. read more

Doctor Patel was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. In spite of the condition (kidney stone) it was a great experience with a cordial staff. I felt comfortable and at ease with each step of the process. read more

When Dr. Patrick Cannon retired I thought I would never find any urologist as good as he was. Boy was I wrong. Dr. Patel is the cream of the crop. Very professional, very smart, very nice. He saved my brothers life. Thank God I found him and his assistant Portia is great too. She is a real sweetheart. I would never go anywhere else. read more

I thought he was a good MD when I met him for first exam. Then I discovered that his office staff is very difficult and very inefficient to deal with when I was having a problem. So, I switched urologists. read more

I had a prostatectomy going on nine years ago now; PSA levels are still too low to measure, knock on wood. I was referred to Dr. Patel by my urologist after a positive biopsy, and having been given the choice between a prostatectomy or radiation treatment. After meeting with doctors in both fields I went with the surgery. He explained very clearly what the biopsy result numbers meant, where everything was located anatomically-wise, how the surgery would be performed, and what I could expect in the future. As I was wheeled into the operating room he even pointed out the various robotic surgery equipment because he knew I had been interested in that. Great post-operative care both the morning after and in follow up visits. read more

Saved my life. Recommended to this urologist after the urologist I had initially needed to see due to an unknown mass was not able to see me for a couple of months recommended him to me. He squeezed me into his schedule and because of how this, my cancer was diagnosed and removed quickly...didn't even get the chance to get into any nearby lymph nodes. Will be forever grateful to Dr. Patel. Compassionate, caring, patient, and skilled. read more

I either have a uti or kidney stone. If you've ever had either you know the pain comes fast and is relentless. I had similar symptoms last year and ended up going to urgent care. And when they determined it was a kidney stone, I had to redo all labs with a urologist. So this time I thought: why not save time and money and go straight to my local urologist. I called. He's busy. All good. As a matter of fact: congratulations! I asked to please come by to just do the urine test with his office to see what it is so I wouldn't have to duplicate tests. I offered for them to even charge my copay without seeing the doctor, I just don't want to do duplicate tests at urgent care and then here. Then if it's a kidney stone, I can continue my care with your doctor. The response "No go to urgent care." No explanation. No compassion. I find the lack of care at a doctor's office appalling. Where do you think you are? West LA?! This is the valley for goodness sakes! We're supposed to be more humane and down to earth here. I'll be taking my $8,000+ kidney stone elsewhere. read more

I finally got good PPO health insurance with my new job. I looked up a good urologist here on Yelp. I have been having problems with kidney stones and blockages. Doctor sent me for some tests to be done, and to see a nephrologist. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. He explained things in terms someone without a medical degree can understand. Whole office staff is nice and was not to hard getting an appointment as a new patient either, I go back end of month. Park on the street otherwise it's 1 dollar every 20 mins, and you never know how long of a wait at an appointment. Very nice caring Dr. read more

This review is the most sincere expression I can write. I was originally referred to Dr Patel by my internist Daniel Rosen who saw an elevation in my PSA count. He suggested I meet with Dr Patel who he felt would be a good fit for me in diagnosing what was going on. I had never before been to a urologist and was very uneasy about what would this would be. I made the appointment and was greeted by a warm engaging smile who explained all of the details of what he wanted to do on my first visit. I had a physical exam and ultra sound which did not scream any alarms. After the exam he suggested that to be on the safe side he ordered up an MRI to provide more clarity as to why my PSA was elevated. I had the MRI which showed a probability that infact there was cancer in the prostate-to further provide proof positive he ordered a biopsy which confirmed the diagnosis. Needless to say I was very concerned but Dr Patel spelled everything out for me and explained in detail various coarse of action that was available to me clearly and in a manner that all of the tools to make the best decision for me. All the while I asked him if I was his dad how would you advise me. He responded the same way as what we were discussing. He carefully explained the robotic surgery to me and all that went into it.A date was set for the surgery and he explained the procedure in detail as well as the after care so there would be no surprises or concerns. The surgery went off perfectly and I was home after 3 days. I was in contact with him during that period on any question I had and never did I ever get the feeling from him that I was bothering him. He made himself available! His professional staff made the process very easy and comforting to me. To express the thanks I have would be an understatement. Dr Patel is a warm-skilled professional who brings a special humanity to his practice. I would strongly recommend him to anyone needing to see a urologist. He will always be in our heart. I have been in severe discomfort for four days straight. Have been to ER and was seen by a PA and NP. Have also been seen by my internist who told me that it was vital that ai be seen by a Urologist. I am an existing patient here and to be seen as an emergency. They said they can get me an appointment in one month! Or I could be seen by their NP this week. I explained to them that I need to be seen by a urologist, but they would not give me an appointment. Very uncaring office. read more

I was lucky to have been referred to Dr. Patel by my urologist. Dr. Patel is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. An amazing surgeon who removed a cancer nodule from my left kidney. Dr. Patel is the Best of the Best. read more

Dr Patel is remarkable. He is truly compassionate, an amazing listener, answers any and all questions, relieves all worries and, best of all, is a skilled surgeon. I was shocked to learn that I had a tumor growing in my kidney and more shocked to know it had been growing for a few years---totally asymptomatic. Tests for an unassociated pain in my back eventually led me to Dr. Patel, his diagnosis and then surgery to remove the tumor and part of my kidney. Remarkable--- no pain, minimal discomfort, a few days in the hospital and then back to a normal and an active life. I am so fortunate to have such a uniquely skilled doctor. read more

I have been under the care of Dr. Patel since my diagnosis with prostate cancer. I am basically cured now, thanks in large measure to Dr. Patel. He performed the robotic removal of my prostate gland and has done an outstanding job of managing my case ever since, consulting not one but two oncologists and referring me to a radiation oncologist for radiation treatment. Dr. Patel is eminently knowledgeable and has an excellent rapport with patients. You can search far and wide and you won't find better than Dr. Patel. read more

Dr Patel is awesome. He is extremely compassionate, listens to all of your questions and provides understandable and clear answers. The first time I met him I felt totally at ease.
