How does one write a 5-star review for someone who does a vasectomy procedure? You'd think it'd be…read morean emotional 1-star review. However, I had an amazing experience here compared to my first visit with another Urologist and staff nearby. First, I have to start with Dr. Hyman's staff. My wife who works in medical always says the staff makes the doctor. I can tell you that the office staff, nurses, and assistants here are all amazing. They're very friendly, personable and communicable throughout, always going the extra mile if needed. Second, Dr. Hyman himself is highly energetic ...in a good way. What I mean is that he carries an optimistic personality, speaking with presence and charisma. He always checked if I had any questions, making sure to leave no stone unturned. The day of, I was scared as hell to have this procedure done. But I remember reading somewhere, "doesn't it make more sense to unload the gun rather than firing at a bulletproof vest?" Based on that, a vasectomy seemed like the most sensible route for me. Plus, I'm doing this for my wife. Who could say no to that? We discussed all the options, and my choice of offering a vasectomy seemed like the least invasive. So I manned up and braved the elements. That being said, the elements were hardly elements at all. I thought he wasn't done numbing me up, when he said out loud he was half way done. I replied, "half way numbing?!" And he responded, "no, I'm in. We're halfway done." I was surprised considering I hardly felt anything other than the first needle stick to numb me up. I even heard from others about a little pulling and hardly felt that too. I was in and out in no time, and was able to drive myself home. I'm currently typing this from bed the day after. A psychological part of me feels like I should be hurting, but I honestly feel pretty great. I'm pretty much only taking Tylenol for pain and it's minimal. Basically, if anyone were to ever (oddly enough) ask me about where to get this procedure done, it'd be hands-down with Dr. Hyman. It was easy with little (and I mean very little) pain or discomfort. From the office staff to the doctor, you really couldn't ask for better than this.

Avoid Mr. Hyman. Horrible Urologist. Completely disconnected with patient's needs. I have an…read moreenlarged prostate. He did every test there was and ultimately completed a biopsy. Let's start with his bed side manner. I mentioned my concerns and asked questions, and they were brushed off. He put me on medication before the Biopsy. I asked why the medications wasn't working any more and causing side affects that were uncomfortable. He didn't listen to what i was saying and suggested to double the dosage. I emailed AND called to ask again if I can go on another medication and the office assistant said they needed to schedule a Telehealth call. In the mean time I'm off my medication and trying to manage the issues with an enlarged prostate, while also managing an executive level job at work. You all know what I'm talking about if you deal with the same issues. My telehealth appointment was booked for 4:30PM 2 week later. I didn't receive a call back from Mr. Hyman until 5:30PM. He immediately said if this is a bad time, he would reschedule. Why would I do that, i already waited two weeks for the appointment. He said he was in surgery. I said, well if your running late - than have your front desk simply give me a call and help me understand that a later call will be coming.. but no, he had me sitting around waiting for an hour to get his call back. There were red flags from day one that I should have noticed. Save yourself some time and find another Urologist.. this is not your guy.

He is patient, kind, thorough, incredibly knowledgeable and an expert in Urology & related. He took the time to answer all of my questions, i never felt rushed and went above and beyond to expedite the process from consultation through surgery & after care, which I deeply appreciated. Nurse Practitioner: Heather Smart was equally outstanding--thorough, knowledgeable and attentive. She took the time to address all of my concerns during my initial consultation and made me feel informed and comfortable every step of the way. Jenny at the front desk, Alex, and the entire staff were exceptionally kind, patient and professional. Everyone made me feel welcomed and cared for throughout my experience. They are all true rockstars and I cannot recommend this team highly enough. You will not be disappointed. Thank you all for your exceptional care and support! Much love & gratitude!

So, I asked if this is Dr. Patel's office. She said "Yes". She could have said, "Hello, this Is Dr. Patel's office. How can I help you?" I asked her if they are accepting new patients and she said, "Yes". I asked if they are accepting Medicare. She said, "Yes, but need a secondary", which we do. She asked if it is PPO, and I said, "Yes". Then she said, you need a referral from a doctor". So I said, "What? We have PPO not HMO". Then she said, "We are so busy you need a referral". What the F? So, I said, "Thank you and goodbye". Dr. Patel, you need front office staff with good phone manners. I don't care how good you are as a doctor, but your front office represents you.
