What an amazing experience! I can't be more thankful than to have Dr.Ott as my mom's Gynecologist. His level of human care is beyond my expectation in all different aspects. I will recommend Dr. Ott and his professional staff to everyone. Thank you Dr. Ott! My mom is happy to have met you. Sandra T. read more

Dr. Gary Ott explicitly assured me that all of my lab work would be sent to Labcorp. Instead, my specimens were routed to NxGen without my knowledge or consent, resulting in astronomical, unexpected out-of-pocket bills. On top of that, the office failed to disclose that they were out-of-network with my insurance, leaving me with another shockingly high bill that I was never warned about. I feel completely blindsided and misled by the lack of transparency and broken promises regarding my care and billing. Proceed with extreme caution unless you are prepared for hidden costs, poor communication, and massive financial surprises. Extremely frustrating and deeply disappointing experience. read more

He is the BEST DR! caring and always returns calls. Was referred by a friend and couldn't thank her enough

Completely traumatized (again) by yet another male ob. Over a year later postpartum I'm still having irregular periods with an unknown cause. This Dr asserted it "had" to be adenomyosis, however, my MRI said differently. I had to beg to have my hormones checked. He refused to put in orders to check my blood counts because "he doesn't handle anemia." He originally wanted to just perform a biopsy in his office with absolutely no heads up at all! When I made it abundantly clear I was not comfortable with this, he said that the only way to treat my irregular periods would be a "surgery" (he did not specify exactly what kind of surgery which fueled my anxiety even more). Just loosely explained it in a condescending way. If he just told me the name of the procedure, that would have been helpful. But of course not. I was treated like I was an idiot, and crazy. Remarks were also made about my age and "ovarian health" without proper testing to refute his claims. And just to test things out because he insisted I was having "anovulatory cycles," I tested my progesterone several times over the last week and a half in my luteal phase, as well as tested my LH levels mid cycle. All were indicative of ovulation, at least for this cycle. And I just had a baby a year ago... I did just turn 40 but I did not appreciate this overgeneralization simply due to my age and without a thorough work up of tests to at least back it up! Instead I had to pay out of pocket for my own bloodwork for a more thorough investigation. Something I don't think I should have had to do! Additionally, I had to do my own research. I asked lot of questions during my visits which appeared to annoy him and he was so deadset on making statements without asking questions and ordering tests, especially another MRI in my case, and something I found to be a red flag I came to his office twice in one week because I was so concerned about symptoms I having...and Veronica at the front desk so kindly alleged that I "put pressure" on her "so many times" to put in the authorization when I asked once! To add insult to injury, she called me over a week later putting pressure on me to commit to a date for the surgery and I said I have to make arrangements w taking time off work and childcare arrangements so I can't...to which she proceeded to raise her voice at me accusing me of "pressuring" her the week prior. WTF? And am I really going to allow anyone to perform any kind of procedure on me when she feels comfortable copping an attitude like that?! Absolutely not! I can only imagine the terrible things this Dr, who snapped at me last I saw him to ask about a medication, went and said behind my back. Not to mention, a warm office with Frank Sinatra blasting just gives horror movie vibes. No thank you. read more

Dr Ott probably saved my life. Shortly after I had a negative mammogram in March 2024, I felt a small lump in my right breast. I called and spoke to Dr Ott about this. Without hesitation, Dr Ott sent me to an Oncologist even though he could not feel anything. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. His swift referral helped me get a jump start on my treatment. I have two girl friends that also see him. read more

He's okay, but the staff is nasty, rude and not helpful. They hide it from the doctor. I bet he's lost patients that way.

I believe Dr. Ott is a knowledgeable, great physician, however I do not agree with the way he runs his practice. I went in for a routine PAP smear - preventative care, which is 100% covered by insurance. During my exam we talked about my mom's cancer diagnosis, and the treatment she was undergoing. This was the only thing we discussed during the exam. Then he asked me to come down to his office after the exam where he offered two "brand new, state of the art" blood tests to detect free floating cancer in the body. I declined them (I'm in my late thirties and have no symptoms of underlying disease), and he looked shocked. I left the office and went home. About a week later, I started getting calls from his staff person insistent that the doctor needed to speak to me about my PAP results. This obviously frightened me as I've never had a doctor call me about these results in the past. She put me on hold and when Dr. Ott came on the phone it was to tell me that everything looked good. I thought it was odd but a nice touch that he was calling to tell me this personally, as he had never done so in the past and chalked it up to an added touch he was now providing. A few weeks later I started getting bills in the mail. Turns out, Dr. Ott sent my sample to TWO different labs for STD testing, in addition to my annual PAP smear. This was NEVER EVEN MENTIONED during my appointment! Had it been offered I would have declined as I've been married for quite some time. He also charged my insurance company for a second office visit - his phone call to me to simply let me know everything looked great. That was a "second office visit". The total for these bills was close to $400! I filed an appeal with my insurance company. When they called the office to investigate my claim, they spoke to Veronica, and she flat out LIED! She told my insurance company that "a diagnosis was made during the appointment that merited addition testing. The patient was informed and consented." Wow! Unbelievable! So now I'm fighting these bills, which it looks like I'm just going to be stuck paying. Sadly, despite Dr. Ott being a great physician, I will never go back to this office! read more

I really don't understand where these bad comments come from. He is a very nice and knowledgeable doctor! Ladies, definitely without a second thought, just schedule your appointment and go to him! Went in for the first time yesterday! Had an amazing experience super calm cool and collected doctor I 100% recommend him. His staff is also very nice and welcoming I didn't feel rushed or not cared for. I've had not the best experiences before with other gynos so 10/10 read more

Dr. Ott is absolutely amazing. His expertise and professionalism go beyond words. He has been my doctor for years and I am so thankful for all his help and advise. Dr. Ott is the best. My BFF found him by looking through all of the listings of doctors who do pellets within driving range of us. Based on many different factors, she picked him and took me along for the ride, and I am super grateful. He's well worth the hour long drive it takes us to get to him. I don't normally leave reviews, but after seeing someone complaining about him, I had to say something. Best doctor ever. Grant it, he has to work within the bounds of the American medical system... but he is a gift to all of us within this system, and doesn't deserve to be put down as one of the best at doing great service even with all of the constraints and difficulties. read more

Dr Ott and his staff are friendly that is a plus If you want to put yourself through the American medical don't ask just do what we say ringer this could be the right fit for you. If not, do not go here. My first warning flag was when Dr Ott sat us down and said they will schedule our birth and use a balloon to induce labor at 38-39 weeks, because that's what's best-- for who, you? This is not how birthing works. The next issue is he made me take not one but 2 tests from Natera- totally unnecessary- did not ask me if I wanted it just here you need to take these. Be aware this is not the testing that could be offered which is free from the state. I did not know that. Imagine my surprise when I saw that I would need to pay $2,500 for this test. My new OBGYN informed me that no, I did not need that test. At the very least Dr Ott could have explained that to me and put the choice into MY hands. It's my choice - not here I now see. I am LIVID He tried having my husband take the same test. Thankfully I listened to my gut at that point and realized it was not necessary- I could be looking at $5k in unnecessary bills right now. PUKE. I AM NOT A NUMBER SHAME ON YOU. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Linda Katz for over 15 years, so when I heard she was retiring I was quite bummed. Last year, Dr. Katz's office informed her patients to the new Doctor taking over, Dr. Gary Ott. I have to admit I was very skeptical of a new doctor (I hate change!), but upon meeting him and his staff, I'm quite pleased! Dr. Ott has a great bedside manner. He made me feel comfortable and he seemed to genuinely care about my health. His staff is all very nice, friendly, and helpful, so all around I give the new Doctor and staff an A+. I highly recommend Dr. Gary Ott if you're looking for a new OBGYN doctor. read more

My Ob, Dr Katz, retired when I was close to 30 weeks into my pregnancy, I was super scared about the transition but once meeting Dr Ott, he put me at ease. My husband also liked him a lot and we felt comfortable about the care he provided. At 36 weeks, we found out or baby was breech and he was very comforting and open about us trying ESV and other alternative options before considering a cesarean section. While the treatments didn't work and I my water broke before making it to 38 weeks, Dr Ott took great care, kept us all calm and the entire process was quick, painless, and the incision was small with minimal scaring. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

Dr. Ott's staff are so friendly, happy and welcoming. The medical assistants there truly made my experience. Dr. Ott, on the other hand, was an interesting interaction. I went there for help with my birth control needs. He just stared at his computer the whole time and didn't say much. He made me feel stupid.. like my needs were ridiculous and he just wanted me out of his office to get to his next patient. If you're going there for childbirth, you're in good hands. Anything else? Nope. I walked out in tears. Good luck! read more

Hands down! Gary Ott is the best OBGYN in the San Fernando Valley! Before I initially moved over to Gary Ott's office, I was not accustomed to having a male MD be my OBGYN, but after going through a horrible experience with a female OBGYN (a pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage), I figured I had nothing to lose by making the switch over and it ended up being the best choice I could of ever made. Regarding his Staff: From day one, his whole office staff made me feel welcome. His staff always seem to be happy, kind, professional but still competent and diligent in their duties. I always felt like they were family when I walked through the doors. I also never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see Gary Ott and it was never difficult to find an appointment with him either. Something to keep in mind is that I rarely ever had any insurance discrepancies and when I did they always made sure to fight to fix them in a timely manner. Thank you ladies for being such a delight! It is so RARE these days for me to find a Doctor's office in which the office staff are just as lovely as the doctor. Now in regards to Dr. Ott's: His demeanour was always kind and happy, yet professional. I will forewarn you that at times he may seem a little overly happy/cheerful but I would take that any day over having a doctor that is insensitive/cold especially when you're pregnant lol. Dr. Ott is extremely knowledgeable and seems to genuinely care about his patients. I never felt like he tried to rush me out of the door during any appointment. He always made sure to answer any questions I had even if they were a bit stupid or redundant. I can not thank him enough for the time he invested in ensuring I received the best care for my second pregnancy such as being proactive in putting me on progesterone pills/baby aspirin in the early stages of my pregnancy to avoid a chance of a second miscarriage (something my last doctor did not think of). He was always great about calling me for any test results or follow up questions I had, even if that meant it was after office hours. In general, he had the best communication skills in calming my worries during the early stages of my pregnancy, when my emotions were the most heightened after under going a miscarriage prior to switching over to his practice. I can not stress enough just how important it is for a doctor to have good/calming communication skills while you are pregnant as you are constantly going through a roller coaster of emotions and you will rely on doctor to reassure you that you are not going crazy. I unfortunately had to switch over to Kaiser insurance for my last trimester of my pregnancy so Dr. Ott will not be able to deliver my baby which both my husband and I are bummed about but I am so GRATEFUL that Dr. Ott was able to provide the best health care for my baby girl thus far in my pregnancy (I'm due any day now), especially after undergoing a previous miscarriage. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Dr. Ott for anyone looking for an exceptional OBGYN and I'm actually envious of anyone who actually gets to have their baby delivered by him. If you choose him as your doctor you will be in AMAZING hands. :) read more

Dr. Ott and his staff are amazing. I had to move halfway through the pandemic and Dr. Ott made the transition seamless. He always answered my questions inside and outside of our appointments and he made time to listen to my concerns about my pregnancy (especially given COVID). I also had the best experience at West Hills hospital; their staff was so supportive and readily available. I had the best care and would chose them all over again for my delivery. I noticed a one star review in July about safety protocols around COVID - I didn't have that experience. Everyone was always in a mask and I've been temperature checked every time I've been there. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Ott and his staff. I felt confident and comfortable with their office from my first visit. I went to the office nurse for my first visit which went well. I later had to have emergency surgery for an unrelated issue and contacted Dr. Ott who showed genuine sincerity in what I was going through and comforted me. I knew I was in good hands and I had complete trust in him. Dr. Ott and his staff contacted my insurance promptly and i was scheduled within 24 hours as I requested. I've never had a male Dr. and me feeling so comfortable with him really says a Lot about what an amazing Dr. he really is. read more

Dr. Ott is a godsend. I've had several gynecologists prior to him that have left me feeling uncomfortable, insecure, anxious and waiting for too damn long. His office is clean, staff of angels, very hospitable, knowledgeable and you can be as open as you should. I got lucky with this one. read more

Dr Ott is a rare find! He cares so much about all of his patients, and takes the time to find solutions to problems. I've been to so many OBYNs before, and they all rush and just prescribe you to medications so you can leave the office early. Dr Ott is not like that at all. He takes his time with each patient, he makes them feel taken care of (which is so hard to find these days with doctors). After seeing so many doctors, he finally found the problem to an issue I've had for many years of my life. So grateful to him and he comes highly recommended from me! read more

Mortified at this medical offices lack of covid protocols. They had an empty sparkling water can in the waiting room from the person before me, no covid screening, no temp checks, and a member of staff working at her desk with no mask off.The nurse even admitted to me she wish they were doing more. So I left. They rang me after to say I should have stayed to discuss it with them. With the unmasked staff member? No thanks! She then told me I was overreacting and should not treat staff working this hard like this. They are working so hard that they left an empty can in the waiting room. What else are they not cleaning there? They need to be retrained on medical practices during a pandemic. My dentist and other doctors have done an amazing job. This is shameful! No apology to me for an unsafe office or admitting maybe they should review their protocols. If this MD approves of staff like this, I don't need his hands in my vagina. Unfortunate cause I really liked this doctor when I saw him last year. read more

Love Dr. Ott and his office staff ! I had been going to Dr Katz for over 20 years and was very nervous when she retired. but Dr. Ott is so calm and his bedside manner is amazing .. I feel completely comfortable with him. As for the "Karen" review, I'm sure she's not happy anywhere she goes. This is hands down the most friendly attentive Dr. Office I have ever been to. He will be handling my hysterectomy soon so i will update my review after that. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ott. He is careful and thoughtful and I have full confidence in his abilities. I have been to see him three times now and each time is better than the last. I know many women today prefer female ob/gyns and I appreciate that. However, I have had experiences with both men and women in this field and have felt good about some and not-so-good about others. The sex of your doctor should not matter and in this case, you should go to the best. Go see Dr. Ott. You will not be disappointed. read more
