I had a hematologist before that was just reacting to what was happening with my health, which caused a lot of instability and chaos for me. It also gave me a lot of anxiety about my health and shook my trust in doctors. Dr. Eshaghian clearly read through my entire health history and chart before my visit instead of me having to try and give my entire medical history in the appointment. He came in fully up to date, which was a first for me in medicine. He also developed a plan based on data, not reactions, so he made sure to do a few more tests and then repeated them if my situation or symptoms changed to see what was causing any kind of variation. He was able to get me on the right doses of my medicines by doing this and my life and health have been much more stable. He also gave good referrals to other doctors and now I have a healthy team of doctors that understand my health issues. But most of all he is compassionate and kind. He doesn't just give his opinion and move to the next patient, he really treats the whole human experience and has helped me a lot on the journey to getting back to living my life and feeling safe on my current treatment plan without anxiety. I also see the comment that the front desk lady is rude. She is actually super nice and is very quick to get things like prescriptions or orders. Very happy to be a patient here!

He was calm, clear, and decisive about the next steps. By the time we arrived at the ER, Dr. Movassaghi had already called ahead, ensuring we received immediate attention: a room, vitals taken, pain management, and diagnostic tests were all initiated without delay. He arrived shortly thereafter and performed emergency surgery in the middle of the night to resolve the issue. While this may be part of his job, Dr. Movassaghi's follow-through, availability, and humble bedside manner went above and beyond. Late by 10 mins but waited for one hour with almost 8 people waiting in a small room. Front office personnel flatly refuse to explain how long the wait would be and instead faults us for being late, hence the wait with no given time. Most patients are senior citizens who oblige and wait till their turn comes while these talentless staffs seems to be busy with whatever they are doing in front of their PCs. Clinic cares to process as many billings as possible rather than providing medical care and service. When confronted on service being provided or not, front staff dare to say that they are not there to provide service, period. There are many doctors who come and go in this building as I saw for the past 25 years. Your days are numbered it seems. Avoid this clinic at all cost and file a complain to Providence network as necessary. They don't deserve to be in this building.

I am a real person. :) James R. Santa Monica, CA - December 7, 2022 ... So... I was sent one of those boring questionnaires from Providence Health & Services (after a normal doctors' appointment) that was the usual sterile Q&A - 0-10 sort of things - then at the end it asked - anything else? - so I wrote the following and sharing it here for others looking for a good place for medical doctor care to... so... here you go - This is what I wrote... "Dr. Pouya Shafipour and his staff are bright, smart, polite, and always great. Mostly they are human, present when you talk to them, they aren't like this survey. They have a heart - that this survey does not. Over the years that I have seen them - they light up and we share a brief moment a connection - sure we get down to the business of medical care and things may move fast - but they keep their eyes on the details - while still being decent and maintaining humanity and compassion. There's a mic drop for ya"

I have not felt well for many years and it has never been diagnosed so I am constantly bugging him for suggestions as to whom to see next. He is extremely patient with me and does his utmost to find answers. He once said he likes to treat his patients as he would like to be treated. Well he would certainly be treated well. When he walks into the exam room, he always starts by asking me how life is going and recalls details I've mentioned during previous visits. He listens attentively when I tell him about symptoms I've been experiencing and plans out clear, logical steps to address them. Anytime he's referred me to be tested for something, he's followed up with me about the results within a day or two of the test. He's smart, genial, and well-connected to great specialists around LA. I totally trust him to manage my healthcare. If you live in the West LA area and are looking for a primary care physician, you can't do any better than Dr. Uyeki.

Dr. Uyeki does not take United Health Care Insurance anymore even though UHC's website for 2019…read moresays that he is in Network for 2019. The Dr. says that they have not been with UHC for years but UHC says otherwise. This doctor is very selective about the types of insurance he accepts, and the plans in each insurance company he accepts so before coming here I would first call the insurance company to confirm and then double confirm with Dr. Uyeki's office. This can change year by year so always check each Jan 1 as doctors dip in and out of insurance networks. This Office is closed on Thursdays. They speak fluent Japanese here and that clientele makes up a large part of their practice. This Dr. also does not do x-rays in office anymore but does do blood draws and then sends them out. He used to take blood and x-rays and develop them in office--no more. On my most recent annual exam in 2018 on a Friday, he called me the next day on a Saturday to say all the blood results are okay that he had results on before all were completed. By the following Monday the rest of the results were in but he did not call again to say those were okay--I suspect because there was no problem. But after looking after all the results I saw that one test was not ordered that usually is every year (PSA) so I called the office to report that and they got it tested that week. He did not call on that result, I guess because it was okay. The long and short is that with the way medicine is practiced in Los Angeles for years and the influence of Insurance Companies--you need to be very proactive and keep records to compare on your own. The blood draws here are professional and leave no mark. You have to pay for parking in this building. The staff is pleasant. If you don't have insurance, they do take cash--call and ask them for a quote. This office is part of Cedar Sinai and if they refer you it will most likely be to a Cedar doctor.
