Cold Food, Bad Service.
I'll start by saying that this restaurant just recently opened and my family decided to try it out for a birthday. It turned out to be a "Birthday Bust."
The decor in the building itself is beautiful, very spacious, and very fresh, unlike their other restaurants. The bathrooms are absolutely beautiful as well. Once you get past the decor though, that's where the beauty ended.
The service, although there were only about 7 small tables being served, was very slow. I'd hate to see what it's like if it was actually busy. There was one female waitress and one male server, a cashier and one other person wandering around. After waiting almost 20 minutes for our food it was served... cold. The shrimp was like it just came out of the fridge, and the rice had definitely been sitting, the beef and broccoli also clearly cold. The portions are also not like their sister restaurants. We always order the same thing and leave with lots of extras, but not this time. We called the male staff member over and told him it was cold. He took the plate and went back to the kitchen.
After that we checked the other 3 plates. One was piping hot but the other 2 were cold as well, so we called the male staff member over again to politely let him know. He took the plates away, came back and said that the "chef wasn't following the process. She's new." I'm not sure what "process" he meant, but the only process we could see that was skipped was actually heating the food!
He returned almost too quickly with our plates, which were now steaming hot. I'm almost certain they were microwaved, adding to the disappointment. They had that fresh out of the microwave, nuked a few seconds too long distinctive temperature to them. And some of the small bits of beef that were in the rice were now hard.
After he placed the first meal in front of us, he stood there and said "try that." Not very polite but he also never came back to check on us again after dropping the second and third plates off. He didn't bother to come back at all after this, until we were finished eating. He couldn't bother topping up our drinks or seeing how the actual meals were, now that they were microwave hot. Not very professional. Generally, if there's an issue with food, the waitstaff become overly attentive, rather then disappear.
When he brought the bill out, it was discounted $10. He didn't even tell us that, or mention the discount, which was good and bad. It was good that he make the effort to discount it on his own, but bad that he didn't point it out or come with any real appology. Gone again, he didn't return to the table for us to pay, so we went up to the front cash and waited to pay. He didn't recognize us standing at cash. Asked what we wanted. He was very scattered.
They had a $10 off coupon in the Metro this week, as an opening promo and I told him I wanted to use it towards my bill. He said that he had already discounted my bill by $10. It wasn't our fault that the meal was cold and he discounted us $10. The ad with the coupon was what made us aware they had opened this location in the first place. I wasn't going to feel bad using it. He said that he couldn't give the discount for the $10, so he tried offering me a 5% discount, which would have been only $5.60, not $10. I told him I wasn't paying anymore than I should be. He miraculously found a way to do it when I insisted I wasn't paying a penny more.
All in all, while the decor is beautiful, the service is lacking and the food wasn't great. Until this restaurant picks up it's game, I won't be returning. read more
