I had called to find if they had blades for my mower. I was told they didn't have them in stock, but could have them the following day. The clerk said she couldn't give me a time for the delivery, but deliveries usually arrive between 11-1. The following day a drive to Winchester to kill time while waiting on the call. About 3 I call them only to find out that the girl I spoke to the previous day was not working. I was told that the order had not been placed and there was no explanation. Not sure if this is typical for the business, but beware that this is a possibility. Incompetence or laziness I'm not sure, but either way it's not how a business should be run. read more

Maxx Powersport is as incompetent as they get. Do not (even for warranty repairs!) let your equipment into their shop. And certainly do not buy from them. They do not return calls, or when you can someone, they try to have nonsensical arguements with you about why they are not doing their job. They said last Spring that it would take 4 (four!) weeks to do a minor warranty repair. I told them that I needed the equipment and could not wait that long. After having Home Depot intervene at the end of the Summer, they stated that they would put the work at the top of the list. How long have they had the equipment? Four weeks and counting! And they did additional work that they now claim did not need to be done, and without getting our authorization to do the work, want to charge us for it. I have been using Maxx Powersport for all my lawn and garden needs for years, and I recently lost their business card but needed to call them for help getting a starter for my Bolens tractor. When I went to lookup their number today, I found this page. Since I have been dealing with these guys for so long, I feel that it is my responsibility to set the record straight. I have experienced nothing but excellent service from these people. Period. I have experience in the industry and have been to multiple different service centers over the years, and I can tell you that three weeks is the fastest I've ever gotten my lawn mower back from a center during the summer (the busiest season for this industry by far), and it was from these guys. When I got my tractor back, it was as good as new. They fixed my tractor (in this case, a carburetor problem) and got it back to me very quickly. On the occassions when I've gone to the shop to find a part, they have no problem finding the part, though they don't always have it in stock, but this is to be expected. Considering the huge number of brands they can get, it would be impractical to stock every single part. They can always give me an eta on when the part will be there, and all but once it was there within that time frame, the one time being when their distributor said they had the part in stock but didn't. To blame them for that would be very foolish. When I've called them, I haven't always been able to get through, but since I know the industry, I also know that people know virtually nothing about this type of business. To explain just a little, the paperwork is far worse than people can imagine, especially on warranties. The people answering the phones are the same people calling customers, returning messages, looking up parts, and filing warranties, as well as keeping the system in order, and in the busy season (summer) these responsibilities make it very difficult to get every phone call. Since I know the business, I also know that people expect their units back the next day (an impossible expectation for any lawn and garden service center), and so they are taking up the employees' time by calling constantly. In my experience, if I call in and leave a message, they almost always get back to me within the hour. In fact, going back to the reason I found this page, I called them today and left a message. They called me back 45 minutes later. I gave them the model number and my card number over the phone, and I'll be able to pick up my starter when it gets there in just a few days. I would, however, like to let potential customers know that they should have their complete model numbers with them when they come in looking for a part. Many people are under the impression that all tractors or engines have universal parts, but I know from experience that this is not true, even for seemingly similar units. These were my experiences with this company, but I cannot speak for anyone else. They may be telling the truth, but it definitely sounds like I have dealt with these people far more than them, and I've had nothing but fantastic experiences. If this does not convince you, consider this: I know these guys have been open for a decade, and in all that time they have had only three bad reviews. In May, we bought a brand-new Husqvarna lawn tractor at Lowes. We purchased the warranty on the mower. About one month after purchasing it, we noticed that the gas tank was leaking and the gas pedal was sticking. Incidentally, the gas pedal sticking caused my husband to lurch forward and crash into our kid's swing set, damaging the front of the mower. Unfortunately, despite the mower misfunctioning, we were told by the company hired to fix the mower that Husqvarna would not fix the damaged hood. Very disappointing, but we were willing to deal with it. The employees at Lowe's were friendly and helpful, but we have run into serious issues with the company hired by Lowe's Service Advantage to fix the mower, MaxPower Sports out of Winchester, Va. Not only did they have the mower for three weeks, but also we could never reach anyone there to get a status on the mower. Today, they simply dropped it off without so much as ringing the doorbell to let us know it was here. When we got it back today, the gas pedal wasn't fixed and it was obvious that the mower had been setting outside for who knows how long. To make matters worse, one of the back tires is flat and it appears that some dry rot is setting in. We kept the mower in a dry garage, so this damage has occurred while in the possession of MaxPower Sports. My husband repeatedly mentioned the gas pedal, asking again and again if it would be fixed, so they were aware of the problem. No one ever called us to explain why the repair didn't happen. The guy who picked it up even commented that it was sticking. Terrible customer service. Terrible mechanical service. STAY AWAY from this business. read more
