Not always an easy task, especially when docs themselves have bosses to answer to. The whole health system can be hard to navigate for all of us. As such, I did have a miscommunication with Dr Tarpley, through no fault of either of us - just one of those miscommunications that can happen to us all, despite best intentions. Much to his credit, when he was alerted to my concerns he took the time out of his weekend and a special family celebration to call me and we were able to discuss my medical issues. He also made sure that from here on out I know exactly how to get in touch with him. He did not "need" to call me as promptly as he did, but he made the time. To the business: I just want to point out that I used to work in a VERY busy, VERY successful doctor's office for almost a decade and the people who answer the phone are integral to the success of a practice! If you need to pay someone more, give them more benefits, FIND SOMEONE ELSE that is possibly younger, fresher and more pleasant who appreciates their job, so be it, it's worth it. The demeanor of the secretary or receptionist is the first thing patients will encounter besides these reviews. I was dreading for weeks --- to get my blood drawn as I HATE needles!…read moreMy doctor is in the Torrance Physician Physician Network. They have several blood draw locations including one in Manhattan Beach which was just 10 minutes from my home. GREAT HELP from 'Claudia' -- she schedules the appointments. I called her multiple times as I had several "nervous-type questions" to ask. Claudia was very sensitive to my being a "needle chicken" and she was patient and professional in answering all my questions. In particular, I thank Claudia for recommending that I see either "Ruth" or "Amy" for the blood draw as they are the most experienced. FINALLY, the BIG day came! When I arrived, both Amy and Ruth were there to greet me as they had been notified in advance by Claudia of my particular situation. BOTH Amy and Ruth guided me immediately upon my arrival to the draw station. They were both so kind ... so sweet ... so understanding ... as I made my preparation (headphones over my head with LOUD music) for the 'BIG STICK' into my arm. But but but but ... it was ... N O T H I N G! It was a tiny tiny tiny prick and the whole procedure (3 vials of blood) was done ... comfortably ... in under one minute! Bless Claudia, Ruth, and Amy for their caring hearts!
