All there is to go on is a little sign by the road that says "Free A/C check"... I thought I'd check them out after my new landlord and a new neighbor recommended them highly, since they are 10 minutes from me and my 2005 Prius had an electrical issue that needed to be addressed. They are professional, knowledgable, car hobbiysts (that's always good in my book), they gave me a ride back home from the shop, then came and got me when it was ready! Dolphin has done some extensive work on my older car over the years, some that was quite expensive…read moreand I've wondered about the quality of their work as the results seem less than spectacular. I don't know much about cars in general and tend to accept what a mechanic tels me. That said, I had some necessary work done by a mechanic at Dolphin automotive the week after hurricane Helene came through. All the other local auto mechanic shops were destroyed or out of service due to lack of electric and water service. I was charged $95 for diagnosis (? I already knew what was wrong with the car) plus $95 for a switch (??) and $95 for labor. My car ran just fine when I drove it into Dolphin's station that day. After the work was done, which by the way, did not involve the engine, the car started missing badly as soon as I drove out. Back at the mechanic, told me a part had been broken and I needed to replace the entire assembly. Denied having broken the part, which I find hard to believe. Why would my car run fine before they worked on it, to not run afterwards? As I stated before, Dolphin mechanics have worked on my car several times and have done an ok job, nothing outstanding. I now suspect they pad their invoices but can't prove anything, just like I can't prove the worker broke my part. However, after this last incident I will no longer patronize the shop and will not recommend them to anyone I know.

I have never had anyone charge me for this before. The second opinion confirmed that the problem I was experiencing was in the rear end and had nothing to do with the front end.

So the shits been scraping the ground. This past Friday I take my car to Firestone in Huntersville to get it fixed along with a few other things. Unbeknownst to me until I hit a bump on the way to Asheville for my birthday weekend , the shit is still hanging and scraping the road as I drive. Fast forward to today. I call Coxe this morning. They're crazy busy so I don't have any expectations. I call my husband to see if his friend who owns a shop about 45 min away can get it done. He can. I dont wanna have to drive out there just yet so I bring my car to Coxe like they advised. As Cat mentioned before it may take a minute to get to my car. It's all good. I'm waiting for only 2 min or less and Cat at the front desk told me they'll get to my car real soon once a lift opens. In literally less than 6 min my car is in the back. Wow! Also waiting in the lobby and the other lady is vacuuming asking me if she's disturbing me. Just friendliness and kindness all around. Then Aaron comes out and tells me that the front piece was being held up by zip ties. Thanks Firestone! Rather than telling me they need to order the parts from Honda like Aaron said, they pieced my shit together for it to just come down. Firestone in Huntersville did me dirty. I'm leaving a review there too. Aaron gave me the piece that was hanging down. Gave me the ONE screw that was there out of like 8 or so that I needed. AND THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME!!! Thank you thank you thank you so much Kat and Aaron!!! If I ever need work done and have a visit coming up for Asheville, I'll just take my car here. I mean I love Asheville cause most everyone I encounter here are polite and kind, but this is some next level shit for me as a Black Woman. I'm typically on guard to ensure I'm not taken advantage of. Literally Aaron and Kat put me at ease.

Several years ago, I took my Chrysler Town and Country to Fletcher Automotive for its annual NC…read moreinspection and was told it failed inspection due to a leaking rack and pinion, plus a claim that I had a warped and leaking oil pan. When I asked why the oil and power steering fluids were not low and there were no signs of leakage on my garage floor, I was told it doesn't always show up like that and was advised the repairs required to pass inspection would cost more than a thousand dollars for a new rack and pinion and over $300 for a new oil pan. I asked to talk to the technician and see the leaks, and after claiming it would violate their insurance laws to do so they reluctantly lifted the van, where I saw nothing dripping with only a light oil film on the oil pan and nothing that clearly indicated the rack was leaking. I declined the repairs and took it to F&R Automotive, for a second opinion where its owner Fred Vacok (who recently passed away) reported that he found no rack and pinion leak and merely snugged the bolts on the oil pan to fix its minor leak at no charge. I then took the van to another inspection station, where it passed inspection and confirmed both the rack and oil pan were not leaking and later ran that van for an additional 20,000+ more miles before giving it to my granddaughter. It served her well in her last year of High School and into her college years. I've never gone back to Fletcher Automotive and would caution others to be wary.

In our 60s this is the automobile We will probably keep for quite a while so I want better than the average service. After three trips to Mountain Euro over the last several months for routine maintenance, I can tell you for sure ~ We are getting way better than average service. Unfortunately, for the Auto service Business overall, getting great service is the exception... And not the general rule. At Mountain Euro, we've found the service and communication is exceptional. What's spurred me to write this review was my experience yesterday, while waiting for the techs to finish the oil change. I overheard one of the technicians mention to Erin at the service desk that he had "inspected the moon/sunroof " on one of the vehicles they were working on. knowing my wife's sunroof had been acting peculiar, taking several button clicks before it closed completely, I got up and asked Erin behind the service desk If they could please take a look at our sunroof... Because in my mind I was scheduling a trip to get THAT looked at at the dealership. Erin said no problem. 30 minutes or so later when I went to get into my vehicle, the service technician said: I reset & reprogrammed your sunroof. It should work perfectly. And it does! Thinking there might be an additional service charge on the Bill, I glanced down... Nope. Nothing but the cost for the oil change. That in my mind is exceptional service. Thank you, team Mountain Euro! Tim & Leslie Thompson Marshall, NC

A very polite man named Chris was there when I arrived and took some info, and then presented me with pricing. $240 to check my check engine light, and then, because I told him I'd just purchased the car, $150 do "do a really in depth check". I declined the in depth, but it left me a bad taste in my mouth. I called another mechanic on the way out who quoted me $189 to check the light. I called Chris back to ask if they'd match that and he immediately replied "no ma'am". No problem. I'll come and grab the car and go elsewhere - I was already feeling like I was going to be overcharged. ETA. I received a call a couple of hours later, stating they would match the cost that the other shop quoted. The owner, Todd, is apparently in today, and Chris had spoken to him about this and he wanted to honor the other quote. Honestly, when I drove up to this shop I was really excited. I grew up country, in the country. This place is country - there are roosters crowing, and a good ol' boy mechanic listening to George Straight. I'm down with that. Upgrading my review to four stars, and will update at the end of the day...fingers are crossed that I found a mechanic I can trust.
