Supports our concerns. She is always willing to take the time to discuss anything we need. Unlike many physicians, she listens very well. So we wasted gas driving there and I was standing in front of this woman within that grace period. She told me unfortunately because it was almost the end of the grace period we had to reschedule. I mentioned that I had called and been assured it was fine within 15 minutes and that the 15 minutes was not up. And she shrugged. Then when we rescheduled we saw the dr and we needed two prescriptions filled for our son for two different purposes. I noticed only one was filled. I called to ask why and they said the appointment was for one at a time. The asthma meds were filled but if I needed the other filled i had to bring my son to a second appointment. This was not at all what the doctor said at the appointment originally. It was nothing but problems with these people.

She skips her lunch, stays late and sacrifices much in order to give her all to her patients. I have sent her a message after hours, or (not knowing) when she was on vacation and I always get a rapid response or a phone call. Dr. Whitcomb has always been very family-oriented and our girls' health care decisions have been decided by us--with her guidance. She will tell us the facts and answer any questions we have before any medical decisions are made. There is another review on here that mentioned Dr. Whitcomb's stance on vaccinations as being the reason the woman left the practice and found a new clinic. I have to comment that we vaccinate, fully, on schedule and even get the flu shot (gasp!). I have never, ever had Dr. Whitcomb say anything against vaccinations. She encourages dialogue and will give you her opinion with the research behind it and allow you, the parent, to make the choice as to what is best for your child. Having said that, she has always been on our side with getting vaccinations. Lastly, I'd like to say that I have been with Dr. Whitcomb as she has transitioned into a private practice pediatrician and it has been a pleasure being able to see her now in her element, running things like the boss she is. There's a peace in the office. We love everyone that works there. The front desk receptionists are always warm and friendly. The phone nurses are great and the practice nurses are the best. Furious upon finding out when I switched pediatricians that my 2 year old, who I believed to be covered and caught up with all vaccinations by Whitcomb's office, was actually left behind on one important shot and had had another incorrectly timed (so needed to be done again). Even though I was always very clearly pro-science and pro protecting my child from preventable disease... and always opted for all shots "on time". For those who haven't read my earlier review: I recently moved to a new pediatrician's office after discovering Whitcomb has an unfortunate reputation among Omaha's more eccentric and scarily "crunchy" set as THE pediatrician to go to if you want someone who will be very understanding/lenient about irresponsible decisions to either delay vaccination or not vaccinate. Irresponsible meaning more based on "I think Jenny McCarthy is smarter than a doctor or medical researcher" and not based in actual medical fact or family history of vaccine reaction.

There is never any issue with parking which I love. It's always very clean and they even have separate seating inside for sick kids so the non sick kids won't catch anything. The person answering the phone, scheduling your appointment and greeting you when you come in, say a lot about a company so why should healthcare be any different? The ones who answer the phone and greet you at this office are amazing. My favorite is Jeff. He is so nice, jokes around with me and is easy to talk to. I don't dread calling in there because I know he will take care of me. Then once I go in, it is always a very pleasant experience. Dr. Schroeder is so wonderful. He listens to you, sympathizes and also makes sure to educate you on the whys, dos and don'ts of things. He doesn't make you feel bad about yourself for things, but rather tries to offer solutions and education on how you can change those things yourself or tips on how to help it. So the Olsen Clinic said that her office had not sent it in yet. I call the medical records at Physician's clinic (same clinic that my daughter's doctor is in), and tell them to please fax it today so that the specialist can start tests on me. She said to me, "YOu know, we legally have 30 days to send the information to another office!" I said, " Really? Well considering that you people implied I may have cancer, did a biopsy on me, either lost or screwed up the procedure/results, and now are wanting to cut on me again, I would think you would want to consider this an emergency" She said, well you can have them write us a letter, requesting the lab results and we will send it to them faster. I said, that is why I went to your office Friday and signed a waiver saying you could send the results to them. Why do they need to write you now? She said, because we need to know if it is an emergency. I said, what, do you not think cancer is a serious thing? I want everyone, and I mean everyone, to know how incompetent that medical office is and how unprofessional some of the doctors and their staff are there. Dr. Stearne is the one who did my biopsy and has never called me to let me know what is going on. I had to hunt her nurse down to get a response. I took my two year old son to Dr. Koch for a well-visit check up. My son cried in this new place and at the stranger doctor. I would think many two year olds are fearful of doctor offices as they relate them to vaccinations. At that age, they get shots nearly every visit so it is understandable my son was scared and crying. Dr. Koch, however, was not understanding at all. He told my son to stop crying, put him in a time out in the corner on the floor of the exam room, and proceeded to give me unsolicited parenting tips about how he raises his kids. He went on and on about his philosophy of time outs and said nothing medically pertinent about my son. He had the "my office, my rules" mentality. Meanwhile my son sat in his diaper on the floor, confused, scared, and wanting me. I felt like a horrible mother and I will never go back there. My son was crying, that's it. It's not his place to discipline my son. Period. If you can't handle some tears or noise from a child, don't be a pediatrician.
