AND SLIPPERS!" So, I walked right back to the window full of shoes that inspired her wish, and walked through the door. Irving himself, I assume, was there cobbling a pair of shoes (I think he does a lot of shoe and zipper repairs). I wove through the many piles of shoes and other items and found a pair of pink, flowered, light-up sneakers for my daughter as well as a pair of fuzzy puppy slippers that I knew she would love to receive. Fast forward to Christmas: she was thrilled. Wears the sneaks all the time. The puppy slippers were too small. Luckily, Irving let me know during our conversation as I explored his shop that if the slippers didn't fit, I could certainly return them and he will happily get us the right size. When I get back to town, I will do so! Final note: the owner was so friendly and went above and beyond as far as customer service and engagement. He was delightful to chat with as I shopped. Makes me want to keep shopping locally at this tiny, chaotic, and lovely shoe store.

This is located right past the very speedy TSA checkpoint. This is not a rush job, they use several waxes and many different tools (brushes, lighter, various rags). The guys are all cool - they will BS with you if you feel talkative or you can play on your phone. I got a shine from the younger guy who works there and he did an awesome job. He re-laced my shoes and gave them a new life. I was about to toss these, but will hold on to them for a little while longer. Try this shoe shine stand out - you won't be disappointed. $7 for dress shoes, but they do sneakers, boots and other footware. They take major credit cards via square reader.

I took it out of there and brought it to Cayouette's Leather Repair. He looked at all the straps that needed reinforcement and quoted me almost half of what the other place gave me. I was happy to get a good deal. A couple of days later I got a text saying my repair was completed. I came by to pick it up and we had to look for the bag. I was looking at the prices on the tag and we couldn't find it. So I looked for my phone number and there it was: more than half the price OFF of what he originally quoted me. Not only did he fix the broken strap but he reinforced ALL of them and charged me so much less than I ever expected. I left with tears of joy and gave him a $7 tip. What a great guy and nice person to do business with. I tell you, he was worth the trip. Now to find all my favorite shoes and keep him busy!!

This review is based on my drop off experience only. I expect, based on reviews, to get the same…read moreexcellent service after the repair as I did describing what I needed done. I brought in two pairs of booties, one needing a rubber tap placed over the plastic heel that makes a reached when I walk. I asked the cost and was very satisfied (this used to cost $5 in the '80's when there were at least 3 cobblers - that's what we used to call "shoe repair" shops - within 3 blocks of my downtown Boston office. It id more expensive now, but a very fair price all these years later). My second pair was Dr Martens boots that I've worn down enough that they're dangerously slippery. After looking closely, the suggestion was to remove and replace the whole sole. That was expensive, about 1/2 the price of a new pair. So, we kept talking. and Ron suggested filing down the front of the sole slightly to create a bit more traction, and replacing only the back quarter at the heel, since that tread is fully worn away. That should be only about 1/3-1/2 the price - and it's a great compromise! Also, if that doesn't solve the problem we can still replace the rest of the bottom. This was a thoughtful resolution, and genuine customer service: let's address the problem in a cost effective way.
