AND SLIPPERS!" So, I walked right back to the window full of shoes that inspired her wish, and walked through the door. Irving himself, I assume, was there cobbling a pair of shoes (I think he does a lot of shoe and zipper repairs). I wove through the many piles of shoes and other items and found a pair of pink, flowered, light-up sneakers for my daughter as well as a pair of fuzzy puppy slippers that I knew she would love to receive. Fast forward to Christmas: she was thrilled. Wears the sneaks all the time. The puppy slippers were too small. Luckily, Irving let me know during our conversation as I explored his shop that if the slippers didn't fit, I could certainly return them and he will happily get us the right size. When I get back to town, I will do so! Final note: the owner was so friendly and went above and beyond as far as customer service and engagement. He was delightful to chat with as I shopped. Makes me want to keep shopping locally at this tiny, chaotic, and lovely shoe store.

Make sure you ask how long it will take as they will not call you. You get a blue tag to claim your item, so don't lose it! I am satisfied with the work he did and it took a week.

It's not rocket science but this fine occupation has a rich vein of history to it and has evolved over the years into an extremely useful and vital part of people's lives who are on the move. This is one of the few businesses left in our society that solely relies on exceptional customer service and results, even though they seem to have little competition, they have to perform their craft perfectly every time to make it work. Located against a lone windowless wall next to Gate 20 are three elevated seats complete with foot rest and a few friendly characters that are always ready to engage in some causal conversation while providing your well traveled footwear with some much needed love. It's a business where personality can be the difference between success and failure, I always feel better after spending a few minutes with this group.

The prices are posted so you know right away how much you're in for- shoes are $6 and boots are $8 (mine were $8). The gentleman at the stand had a steady flow, 2 people walking away, 1 in the seat and 2 more lined up after me. The entire process only took about 5 min and made such a difference! My last visit had him reattach a heel that came off my sole and to polish the shoes. It was ready in days and only cost $15. I think this place only takes cash.
