We always come to Max's when we are in Rocky Point. This time was no different. Usually we have breakfast here, but this time we had dinner. Hubby ordered a beer & I got a Tito's and cranberry juice. Hubby's beer came with a frosty mug. Both drinks were good. I had been wanting shrimp tacos, but they weren't on the menu, so I got the shrimp Alfredo pasta. It was really good. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The sauce was very good too. It came with a salad & bread. Hubby got the pastrami sandwich which came with fries. The sandwich was really good & the fries were crispy. We also got the chips & salsa. I won't order those again as I didn't love the salsa. Like always, we will definitely be back next year when we are on vacation in Mexico. read more

I came here for breakfast last month and really enjoyed the salmon Benedict. The English muffin it was served on was especially delicious. We also tried the chilaquiles, which were good. Piña colado is spectacular and if you are a Bloody Mary person then you will love theirs. We ordered Carnitas and 2 eggs which was delicious (cleared the plate). I finally made it to Max's, not sure what the wait was. The place was busy on Saturday morning when I walked in for breakfast but not packed and no wait, it's a seat yourself restaurant. I grabbed a seat at the bar and based on other reviews, I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was huge, came with a giant jalapeño, celery, olives, peperoncini & an umbrella. Great flavors but it was too big to finish during breakfast. Lots of Mexican & American dishes on the menu .. I went with the chilaquiles with chicken, salsa verde & 2 eggs over easy. The plate was huge, big enough to share, everything on that plate was delicious. The beans were especially yummy, I'd order those with a tortilla and be very satisfied. No way I could've finished that plate by myself, bring your appetite. I'll definitely be back for another go at those chilaquiles and a specialty coffee drink. Wow this was an amazing find in Puerto Peñasco! We received the best service of our entire vacation. The staff were always super friendly and on top of everything. Our first time in we grabbed bloody Mary's at the bar and got breakfast burritos to go. It was so good we had to go back the next day with our whole group and eat in! Definitely get a Bloody Mary, it's the best I've had in years. I also tried their bacon breakfast burrito and their trash can breakfast burrito with half red and half green sauce. It was so delicious! I also love the atmosphere here and it's small but also spacious for our group of 7. They also have indoor and outdoor dining options. I highly recommend checking this place out on your visit! Next time we are going to have to try their lunch/dinner. This is a great place to eat. You should try the chilaquiles for breakfast and the flounder for dinner. Both plates are Delicious Do not forget the Bloody Mary, it comes with a jalapeño. Went today on recommendation and was not disappointed. The service was top notch. I chose a breakfast burrito smothered with chili verde and it was great couldn't finish so will have for breakfast tomorrow. Hubby had a great Bloody Mary, 2 eggs and a Mexican dish that was recommended (can't remember what it is called) chips and sauce. It looked good and was finished. Highly recommend. We have been here several times this trip. The first time we had the pizza and a burger for the kids. It was really good - service was great and the waiters all speak English. The second time we picked up take out. We tried the honey bbq wings, burger & fries, mocha freeze and the milky way freeze. Everything was really good. Like better than okay but not like 5-star cuisine. It has varied menu choices, great dishes, cute atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. Tryed this place on the recommendation of a friend at work, and glad i did. Food and service were both excellent. We ate here every day while we were in Mexico since it was right across the street from our hotel, therefore making it so convenient. Breakfast was great. I ordered the same thing which were sunny side up eggs, side of chorizo, potatoes and beans. The chorizo was so dang good!! The orange juice there - OMG we loved it. It came in a plastic water bottle type and we chugged those suckers down. Hubs and I split a huge bloody mary as we were told by several friends they had the best. It definitely was good but since I don't drink them ever, really, I don't have anything to compare it to. We had lunch there as well and my chicken enchiladas were not good. It was cold and very bland. Hubs got the shrimp tacos which were just A-Ok. I'd have to say breakfast there is better than lunch. We'd definitely be back. read more

I didn't expect much from an Italian restaurant in Mexico. My husband and I went for dinner and shared the blackened shrimp Alfredo and it was delicious!! The shrimp are obviously freshly caught and are huge, and the portion was enough to fill both of us. Each entree comes with soup or salad and all the seafood entrees were under $16. I definitely recommend stopping by Max's especially if you're staying at Penasco del Sol as it's directly across the street. Update: we can back for breakfast and lunch during our trip. Breakfast was great- very large portions, and the coffee was very good. I had the chilaquiles with red sauce. They're really good but the tortilla gets a little soggy so be ready to eat them fast. For lunch we shared the shrimp tacos and a basket of fries. Tacos were great, and the fries were crispy. Breakfast and dinner were my favorite meals here but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! read more

The menu has many American style and Mexican style entrees.. The location is a little difficult to find but it is across the street from the penasco del Sol hotel in rocky point. My boyfriend and I love this place! We stayed in Las Conchas for almost a week and we came to this place every morning for breakfast. Boyfriend always order the Blood Mary and he states it's delicious; toppings came with celery, a whole jalapeño, and different kind of peppers and olives. I always order the white chocolate freeze and it's so good! Their food is delicious as well, we always get their chorizo and egg plate that also came with a side of potatoes and beans. Often times when we are in town we stay at Penasco Del Sol right across the street and wake up hungry. Our go to place is Max's for breakfast. I love their white mocha coffee in the morning to start my day. We always sit outside and order the chorizo with eggs. I always ask for my eggs to be over easy and the chorizo on the side instead of all scrambled together. Just writing about this breakfast now makes me want to go back. We normally stay for a long weekend and will eat here every morning because it is so good. My husband and I order the same thing every time and talk about how good it is. We are normally not big breakfast eaters, but cannot get enough of this place. We highly recommend it for breakfast. We have yet to try it for lunch and dinner, but have heard great things about it. We just might have to go there again soon just to try their lunch and dinner. read more

Puerto Peñasco, Mexico is our favorite weekend getaway spot since it's less than 4 hours from Phoenix. We always make a point to have at least one meal at Max's because the food is amazing, the Bloody Mary's are giant and the perfect cure for tequila filled nights, and the staff is so fun and friendly! Max's was a great find. We were going to another place for dinner and a local said to try Max's instead. We did and we're glad. This was a very quaint place. They have a long bar and several tables in which to eat. I had the hamburger, which may have been the best one I have ever had. The fries were also very good. My wife had the Gorgonzola steak which she said was very good as well. Drink and food prices were very reasonable. We went on a Wednesday night and noticed they had 2 for 1 wings (they are associated with Bryan's Sports Bar which offers the same special on Tuesday's). They also had several Mexican food items on the menu. Looking around at other plates, all of the food looked good. Definitely worth a try if you're in Rocky Point!! read more

My friend and I were visiting for the weekend from Phoenix and stayed across the street at Penasco Del Sol. They had really friendly staff, delicious bloody Mary's. They even made us tortilla chips to order! When my friend accidentally ate a raw jalapeño, the staff and patrons were quick to help with milk, etc-- it was pretty funny for all of us! Went back for dinner and the food was delicious! It's a small place that was packed, but service was still excellent! They also have a great selection of ice cream!
