I will start by informing you that I told my wife that I would die in the house that we used to own because I hate moving. There are a few things worse that come to mind than the idea of taking on the daunting task of purchasing a new home let alone selling the one you currently own. This is a super long review, but if you're even considering selling or purchasing a home (or working with a lender), give it a read. I can't say enough good things about Remax, specifically Maxine Agombar. I will start by saying, originally my husband and I wanted to add on to our little house - we LOVE our house, neighbors, location, etc. we honestly didn't think it could get much better. Aside from being so small, for us it was pretty close to perfect but after the fires in Santa Rosa, the cost of building materials nearly doubled on top of the City of Benicia sort of being a pain with the permit process, so we thought we'd try our hand at selling/buying keeping our search limited to Benicia to start. Introducing Maxine Agombar! Maxine is a motivated, knowledgeable, agent and her wherewithal has been invaluable in this process. She and her team are not only incredibly friendly and accommodating, but they mean business and always lay things out in an honest, easy to understand way. Real Estate Agent, or any other independent contractor, I have NEVER worked with anyone who has the ability to make you feel like their only client - so patient and responsive, evening when I was emailing/texting at 5:30 am (sorry!!). Maxine Agombar held one open house weekend (like none I've ever attended - it was like a party!) and by the following Monday had 8 offers in hand. EIGHT. Each of them blowing us out of the water!One in particular stood out above the rest and by Tuesday, we had accepted an offer. Part of that offer gave us 45 days to find a replacement property, so now it was go time. We had a pretty specific list of wants/needs we shared with Maxine but were willing to look outside of that as well (inventory in Benicia doesn't offer much wiggle room). I think we made a total of 5 offers? Each time we were countered with something we felt like we couldn't deliver, or some sellers just let the offers expire, not even bothering to respond :( after a while we were feeling pretty defeated and realized the likelihood of us staying in our current house was probably what was going to end up happening. On day 43 of us looking, our buyers offered us 45 MORE days to keep looking, and that that point we just didn't feel like it would be fair to accept that offer, knowing once the baby was born (did I mention our impending due date was during all this?) we wouldn't be giving this home search our best efforts. Welp. On day 44, a house came on the market that sent me and my husband into a panic. I think it was 4:30 am and we both were ready to make an offer right then without seeing it in person. IT WAS PERFECT. Maxine met us at the house that day, showed it to us in the pouring rain, and we knew we had to give this one our best shot. Long story short (too late, sorry) we went all in AND WE GOT IT! I still in shock that we pulled it off, I was starting to feel like those crazy clients in the opening scene of Property Brothers who want the million dollar house/neighborhood for less than half the price. And the whole time, as ridiculous I felt like we were being, Maxine never got flustered or pushy, she simply knew that we just hadn't found the right home yet, until we did :) To top this all off, we love our buyers and the people we're buying from, it could be my 3rd trimester hormones, but it's a happy ending for all of us! read more
