Delicious flavorful food! Quick service. We sat outdoors under the trees feeling cool night breeze. Got the mushroom chikin (soy strips) and the schnitzel - both dishes were well made and seasoned appropriately. Mushroom sauce was umami and creamy! Love that they serve salad with each dish. Highly recommend for vegans and vegetarians alike! read more

A really great dining experience. The atmosphere is upscale cafe - the tables have a nice mix of friendly and in the mix and private - although you are close together you don't feel close enough that others are eavesdropping on conversations. Service is friendly and helpful. Also appreciated there were gender neutral bathrooms. The drinks were great - nice to go somewhere with a diverse non alcoholic menu. I had an NA beer and my spouse had a strawberry matcha latte - I was definitely jealous of her drink as it was beautifully presented and well prepared. Food was also very good. We went all out - got a cashew cheese starter, schnitzel, a bowl, and ice cream for dessert. The schnitzel was a standout - my spouse doesn't eat meat but really wanted to try schnitzel - I do and think this one was better seasoned and prepared than the meat ones I had. My bowl was hearty and flavorful - especially liked the peanut sauce. And we loved that we could choose three flavors for the ice cream! Would definitely go back. read more

Max Pett is Aaaammmmmaaazzzzziiiinnnngggg!!! What a treat it was to have some really great vegan food that both vegans and non-vegans both completely enjoyed! The service was excellent! Our server was extremely helpful to offer recommendations and she spoke English very well. With what quickly became a full restaurant, her and the other server kept up with the crowd. I think she probably would have appreciated another hand or two to help. The food was so good, it is clear some though went into the menu as well as the preparation of each dish. Our only regret is that we didn't get a chance to visit again for breakfast before our trip to Munich was over. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The restrooms are for men, women, and gender neutral. They have a small café area and they offer takeaways. Definitely check out Max Pett whether you're vegan, plant-based, omni, or have a diverse group of eaters and you want everyone to leave satisfied! read more

One of the best Vegan meals I've ever had! It's a shame I only got to try it on vacation, if I lived near by, I would be here at least once a week! The vegan schnitzel plate was fantastic! The "meat" was perfectly crispy and properly resembled its non vegan counterpart. The carrot ginger soup my guest got was very flavorful and comforting. The service was remarkable. The server was very polite and very helpful with the language barrier. The restaurant was very earthy and modern/contemporary. The vibe was perfect for the cuisine. They also had a dessert counter at checkout. I definitely recommend them for anyone vegetarian, vegan or anyone wanting a proper schnitzel without the Oink! read more

Came here for dinner and shared the baked cheese and pumpkin soup. The cheese was this delightful, garlicky concoction that went so well with the bread. The pumpkin soup was slightly over salted but was so satisfying and creamy on a cold night. For my main course, I got the schnitzel. Crispy and hearty. We were so stuffed (definitely over ordered), but left happy. read more

A wonderful vegetarian restaurant in Munich. I sat in the charming patio area, with provided blankets. The bruschetta was beyond tasty, better than many restaurants. I also finally tried spaetzle, veg style with green onions & faux bacon. The plate came out with bubbling hot (yea!) food, along with a side salad. This was my first time for spaetzle, and it did not disappoint. Reading the English menu, I saw they also offer tofu and seitan dishes! Yum! read more

I have spent the summer outside of Munich and this has to be my favorite Vegan restaurant in the city. I visited after many recommendations from different people and was not disappointed. It was a rather warm day, and we sat inside which was nice and cool. My friend and I had a great meal, and a fantastic server. There was an English menu available also. We went at like 1:30 (13:30) on a Saturday in July and it wasn't too busy; we were sat immediately. I ordered the Tagliatelle in Pilzragout and it was fantastic. Noodles were great and the sauce was nice and creamy. My friend ordered the Kasspatzen-Pfanderl and liked it a lot. She also ordered the Pai Mu Tan Tea and it was a lovely white tea. Great experience and will definitely be visiting again before I leave. read more

I very much like vegan food, most of the time I end up eating or cooking vegan without being aware of it, simply because there's a lot of yummy things you can prepare which do not contain animal products. Cooking vegan does not mean you "must" use funny and unusual ingredients to concoct even more unusual meals, e. g. buckwheat ravioli filled with millet and shiitake mushroom in a sauce of mixed forest roots. There really is a lot of simpler and tastier choices, a pasta dish with a good tomato-garlic-basil sauce and fried aubergines on top is vegan too. I was not impressed by Max Pett's selection of dishes, some of the options sounded pretty weird and the ingredients ill-combined as if there has not been a lot of research behind. My ravioli were barely edible and the advertised truffle was not even detectable. The stuffed aubergine was OK. The falafel with hummus are a hundred times better in the first middle Eastern take-away around the main station. The risotto was really boring. All of this for pretty high prices too (the mains range from 10 to 19 Euro). Furthermore, Max Pett does not serve alcoholic drinks, I am not sure why since wine and beer ARE vegan (there's at least a wide range of certified vegan wines) and the restaurant IS vegan. So what's the problem with alcohol? If the restaurant follows a particular philosophy that bans alcohol, they should advertise themselves so. Since I had no other choice I opted for an alcohol free merlot which was simply D I S G U S T I N G. The same applied to the wines my friends ordered. Direct message to the restaurant: "Guys, why do you have to serve this stuff? It would be much better if you only served water and sweet potato juice!" I am sorry, the staff is very nice, the decor pleasant, the location great, but the food isn't good, the selection of drinks is a catastrophe and it is expensive. I will definitely look elsewhere for vegan food in this city... read more

Nice vegan restaurant in Munich. Staff was a bit awkward at first, didn't know if could sit or not, waited around for about 6-8min before I was seated, think this could be a cultural thing as I encountered it at others restaurants in town. Anyway, the Beyond Burger was pretty damn good so well worth a bit of social awkwardness and wait. Recommend it! read more

I'm not sure I would have come across this place had I not googled veggie restaurants before going on holiday to Munich, but it was worth trying out. On a particularly hot day the place was roasting inside and air conditioning would definitely have made it more pleasurable to sit, however the bright and airy restaurant made up for it. The waitress was friendly and said we could sit where we liked, however they only had one set of English menus which were being used, so we had to wait till the American couple next to us were finished. Not a huge issue, but I imagine this place has its fair share of British/ American visitors, and another copy or two wouldn't have been hard to produce. That aside, we had a look through the menu and there was some tempting options including various salads, raw foods and curry options. Despite not being sure what it was, I opted for the veggie schnitzel in a baguette with salad, while my boyfriend opted for falafel with ratatouille and polenta. The schnitzel just wasn't to my taste - for some reason I thought schnitzel meant sausage - silly me, when in fact it was a weird veggie meat substitute in breadcrumbs which had a stringy texture. Not to worry, good boyfriend let me eat his falafel dish which was far taster and he munched the schnitzel. We had to wait a while for our meal, and there didn't seem to be many staff on, and I think I just had a bad choice so if I was ever in Munich again I'd def give Max Pett another go. read more

A delicious vegan restaurant! I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for breakfast on my solo trip to Munich. I was staying at a hostel a few blocks away so the location was very convenient. The place is nicely decorated with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were very friendly although my waitress didn't speak very good English and forgot a few things I had asked for. I had the tofu 'egg' scramble with fresh ginger lemon tea which came to 9€. Probably the best tofu egg substitute dish I've ever had! The flavours were incredible. The place also has free wifi, just ask them for the password. I glanced over the lunch/dinner menu and it had various interesting options. Overall, I highly recommend! read more

A welcoming eatery tucked away from the busy Sendlinger Tor, Max Pett offers eclectic vegan cuisine in a peaceful environment. We sat outside in the patio area of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, and it was quiet enough to have conversations with friends. Our service was nice albeit a bit slow, but that is more or less the norm. We tried the Rohkostteller salad, the Cevapcici (Balkans are probably aghast of this vegan reinterpretation), and the Palak Tofu (coconut curry with tofu, mushroom served with rice and papadam). The Cevapcici and Palak Tofu had decent flavors with a few flaws, but the Rohkostteller was a bit of a mess. There was so much stuff on that place that just didn't complement each other: the average salad along with the brownish guacamole on the side, the soggy flaxseed crackers, and the lumps of cashew vegan cheese that seem incongruous with the rest. Unfortunately, I get this impression (this goes for all vegetarian eateries in Munich in my opinion) that because it's vegan/vegetarian, the dish needs to be overfilled with random stuff so it's filling enough. And because there are so much (unnecessary) items in these dishes, the restaurant could charge more for it (the main dishes cost between 15-16 € on average). An outrage! These prices simply deter me from eating out and motivate me to cook vegan cuisine at home. read more

Wonderful all vegan restaurant in the heart of Munich. I got the vegan schnitzel and it was awesome. Heavy and breaded probably just like the real thing. I honestly ate it so fast I can't remember what was on the rest of my plate. My fiance ordered the Ayurveda platter which was a lot of food and quite tasty. We also got juices so we can pretend to be healthy. Reservations are definitely a must if you can. If not, I'd recommend just going at an off time. It did take a while for our food to come but we were in no rush. They also don't take typical credit cards so make sure to bring some Euros! Everyone there was very polite and didn't seem to mind about our lack of German. read more

We've been in Munich 4 days and just ate at this restaurant for a second time. Absolutely the best vegan food I've ever had. I wish there was something like this available in Texas. Yum! Vegan food in a country filled with sausage! I ate here twice (the first time was so good, I went back the next day). I enjoyed the appetizers better than the entrees and still crave the lentil soup. Service is slow here, but I doubt slow compared to other German establishments. Atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. A couple things to know before you go: - Cash or Euro card only (no US credit cards accepted) - No booze but, they do offer non-alcoholic wine. I didn't try it but it seemed like an (oddly) popular choice. - I'd suggest taking the more well traveled and trafficked roads to walk here. Some of the nearby neighborhoods seemed a bit sketchy. read more

The food was just meh. I was super excited to have a fully vegan menu, but everything could have used a little more flavor. They don't serve alcohol, but they offer delicious juices. Great outdoor patio, and lots of sitting room inside. Everything was also really expensive. I wouldn't make this your first vegan stop in Munich, but it's worth it if you need a vegan restaurant. read more

Great vegan restaurant, nice patio area and pretty stylish interior (though pretty tightly packed). Fantastic service - our waitress was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food: dessert was the highlight. We had the "green and black" avocado ice cream, which was so flavourful, really couldn't believe there was no dairy. Amazing bruschetta, especially the guacamole. The mains were hit and miss. The soja-rahmeschnezeltes zuricher art was decent though nothing terribly special: standard hashbrown type potato, carrots that were a bit too greasy, and pretty delicious mushroom/soy meat. The Ayurveda-Teller on the other hand was fantastic, especially the spicey samosas and tomato chutney. Also came with mango-lassi. I liked the special drinks, had the most creative lemonade of my life (featuring elderflower, ginger, peppermint tea and more). Cons: The food is way too expensive for what it is (mains from 10-20 euros). One of our dishes was pretty greasy and not that flavourful. No alcohol. read more

I found out about this vegan place through a lifestyle blog and had high expectations. My boyfriend and I went here for a romantic dinner during our Munich trip. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed and the food choices are great. The portions were a little bit too small for the expensive prices but the quality of the food is good. The only thing I didn't like and found very annoying was that the waitress who served us wasn't very attentive and we had to wait forever to put our order, get the food and ask for a bill. Great vegan restaurant. One of the best in Munich. The menu seems almost Buddhist, as they don't serve alcohol and some of the food is more Asian inspired. It's a bit of the expensive side, and the lighting was a bit too bright when I went there, but nonetheless I will definitely go back. read more

Germany has really embraced the vegan and vegetarian lifestyle! This place is expensive but worth it. The Gautama bowl, which could have been a pile of lifeless, bland vegetables, was instead a taste revelation, with just the right amount of crunch and dressing. The vegan spaetzle is a saucy delight. Drinks are herbaceous and refreshing. Too bad there's no alcohol, but it's absolutely worth it if you crave veg comfort food. read more

Great house made wiener schnitzel at a price of about p16 Euro at lunch (!!) is the nicest aspect we experienced. Similarly expensive tuna salad seemed like a dry veggie Bolognese mix without the tomatoes, not a hint of tuna found. To offer tap water at 1 euro seemed like a nice and ecological gesture, however the staff replaced that with bottled water, and billed the bottled water. We could not drink the water anyways, as staff broke a glass with a huge explosion one table away from us without offering to replace our open drinks. Soon after we left without finishing the meal. We had had enough drama for the 40 euros spent. read more

After a long and tiring day walking around Munich, we were looking forward to a good dinner. I walked in to this place with my 6 year old son and 72 year old father. We got our starter quickly and then began the marathon wait for our main courses. After patiently waiting for about 45 mins, we checked with the waitress (who was serving us)on the status of our order. She rudely mentioned that she was not the chef and cannot let us know when the food would arrive!! I waited for another 15 mins and asked her again. All that I wanted to know was the approximate wait time to manage the expectations of my hungry 6 year old son and dad. She again rudely mentioned that she did not manage the kitchen and hence can't answer the question. She further told us that this kind of anxious and uncertain wait was the norm here ! The restaurant clearly seemed understaffed and I can understand that it must have been a busy and hectic evening for her. But, this kind of rudeness is totally unwarranted. If you cannot treat your customers well and make them feel welcome, you have no business being in a expensive restaurant like this. The food was decent, but this waitress totally spoiled our evening in this otherwise friendly and lovely city read more

Went to Max Pett for dinner with my husband, friend, and our 1 yr old daughter. It was wonderful! My fave vegan/vegetarian place in Munich so far. The food was flavorful, plentiful, and unique. Vegan döner? Yes please! The baby loved that one too. We sampled a couple desserts, and recommend it all. Would get a reservation beforehand; we eat out at 5 pm thanks to our little one and it was still fairly lively at that unseemly dinner hour. We will be back soon! read more

My husband and I ate there about 2 weeks ago. We were going to be on holiday in Munich and since I am vegan, my husband was excited to find a vegan restaurant for me. He called the restaurant about a month before we were to be there to make the reservation (as recommended on their website). In German, he gave our name, date and time requested. He realized later, they did not ask for our phone number or email address. When we arrived at the restaurant, they didn't have our reservation. They had a similar name for our date and time- so they gave us a table. I'm not sure if it was because we weren't German (as they gave us an English menu, they knew we were not native speakers), but the service was painfully slow. As in slow for European service standards. The do not serve alcohol- which may be explained on their German language menu, but was not on the English language menu. I thought this was odd. As a vegan, one of the most surprising things I learned early on was that most beer and wines are not vegan. As a vegan restaurant, you have a wonderful opportunity to educate people and expose them to vegan options. Both of us ordered the vegan schnitzel- and it was tough. I had a hard time cutting it with my knife. Not sure how a vegetable can be tough... The rest of the meal was just meh. Nothing stood out. When it came time to pay the bill- we had another issue. Per Yelp- they are supposed to take credit cards. They do NOT. We were told they take Munich cards (not familiar with those), but they do NOT take Visa or MasterCard. Fortunately, we had enough cash- but again, this was not on the English printed menu. It was really a very disappointing meal. I was excited to find a vegan restaurant while traveling; my husband was excited to surprise me with a vegan restaurant. Both of us left disappointed. read more

You must, must eat at Max Pett. My husband and I have been vegan 25 and 26 years respectively, and I think this is the best food I have ever eaten and believe me, we love to eat. We have gone three times to the restaurant in two days and it is not because there is a dearth of vegan restaurants here. There is not. They are abundant. However, the food is so delicious. For example, we both had the truffle ravioli. It is the best pasta dish I have ever had. It is so flavorful and rich in taste. Every dish is a generous portion, which we also love. The cakes are divine. We had a Spanish vanilla cake, and a raw chocolate cake and both were delicious. The ice cream is magnificent. My spouse had the crunchy ice cream dish, with nougat and other favors of ice cream and it was fantastic. marcel, our server for each visit is friendly, efficient, nice, and a great photographer (you can see his photographs on the wall). You must have reservations since it gets extremely busy and you may be turned away. Do not miss this dining opportunity. read more

I came to Munich with my family and was trying to find some good vegan typical German food. And this place hits the spot. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I can here twice and everything was amazing. Since I don't live any where close to nearby, I splurge and tried a bunch of food with my family. We all shared. I tried the schnitzel and it was the perfect crispyness, the creamy sauce was great and went perfectly with the schnitzel. I also tried the German vegan dish that's similar to Mac and cheese called käsespätzel. It was so good~ had crunchy onion pieces and creamy veggies cheese sauce. Tried the sausage salad, not something I liked but that's ok because I got to try a dish which I forgot the name but it was my favorite meal I had during my whole trip. It has purple sauerkraut, dumpling mashed potatoes, and tender vegan "beef". It was the best! I also tried the white sausage, again not my fave but my family enjoyed it. I loved the Apple flavored mustard they had. I'm trying to figure what kind of mustard it was since I need it in my life. I had the cheesy pretzel, it was ok.
