They cut my cuticle that I was bleeding a bit and the final product? Not awesome. Very disappointing. I recommend this salon IF you can find a technician that won't injure you. Unfortunately every time I've gotten a manicure (natural nails - have had both dip and gel) I've gotten injured by either the nail file or the Dremel-type tool. The most recent injury (with just a simple nail file) actually broke the skin. The technician barely acknowledged it and proceeded with dipping, etc. Hopefully I won't end up with an infection from the experience! Very disappointing. read more

This was my first experience here and I'm not super pleased with the longevity of my manicure. I paid $45 for a shellac manicure, and within a week the polish was chipped and looked very dull and worn down. I've had shellac done many times before and it usually lasts at least 2-3 weeks before chipping. I also had major hangnails the next day which typically doesn't happen. I've loved coming here with my grandmother for a few years and I keep coming back to give them another try, but I am consistently disappointed. I'm disappointed by the outcome of my acrylic nails, where they cut my cuticle (leaving it bleeding), and did not do a very good paint job. There was also some kind of residue leftover (in photo) around my cuticle that won't come off ? The photo I showed her of what I wanted did not match what she did, and the tips are see-through which is a big bummer. I'm pretty bummed that I had to pay full price for these acrylic nails after they clipped my cuticle and I did not get what I was asking for. I have had a pedicure done here recently and they do not do anything in the way of getting rid of callouses. They were training somebody and showing him how to do everything on my feet, and they really only did the bare minimum. You will probably get more of a complete pedicure somewhere else. read more

Do NOT go here! I made 2 appointments at the same time for my friend and I as a Mother's Day treat. They did us one at a time, used what looked like a cheese grater to remove dead skin & left me bleeding, didn't offer us water like they did to other clients, switched technicians in the middle of my friend's pedicure & didn't acknowledge it & were just downright complacent. Once they were done no one ever came back to ask us to pay or tell us we were done, etc. And, I never saw them open the cheese grater from a package so not sure if it was sterilized. I never leave reviews. Ever. But this place ruined my nails. The lady doing my nails rushed through them, did not pay any attention to detail or even my reference picture I showed her. The nails were sooo thick THEY HURT AND THROBBED all night and each nail was going a separate direction, I had to hand file them all the way down just so I can sleep. Not only that but they OVERCHARGED me. I had to pay way more than what I was told or even what the price sheet said. We tried to call back for a refund or for Max to help and fix our nails because we live far but all we got was attitude and NO HELP AT ALL. She then accuse me of being wrong multiple times when in reality there's nothing to be wrong about because I asked her simply what I would like to have done to my nails. She told me that she would not paint my nails the color that I asked her to and chose a different color for me. She was very passive aggressive and every time I would look at my phone she would yank my hand over to her. She kept telling me to not touch my nails which I was not doing in the first place. We each had a Deluxe spa pedicure, and we each had totally different experiences. My eldest and I each had uninterested technicians who did the minimum, and handled or feet like sides of beef. Neither did the same steps, both wouldn't engage in conversation beyond, asking what service, and asking me to pay ( for all three, before we were done) My youngest hit the jackpot, she got the technician who was personable, and cared about her client. Her pedicures ended 10 mins after ours and was thorough.... Very disappointed in the service that was given to my teenage daughter today. They made her wait 20 min when she had an appointment the same time as me. The male tech dismissed the length she wanted and said "they would break" and continued to make them shorter. Then another tech stepped in to paint them, no cuticle care or hand massage. When one thumb nail was dramatically shorter than the other they didn't want to fix it, just shorten the other one to match. I had to tell them it needed to be redone and they basically left my daughter in tears for how they treated her. It's the same price for a teenager as an adult and they need to respect and listen to what the customer wants, regardless of age. Bad customer service. I am now temporarily in a wheelchair for an unknown amount of months and cannot stand or walk. I called and was rudely told that they could not help me with my pedicure at all. Very rushed and not efficient and customer service is not great Ive been here twice, the first time I went I got a pedicure and a full set customer service was not bad and the nails were great a young man did my nails. This last time I went the service was ok as well but as you can see the nails look very rushed and not good at all the lady that did my nails this time was younger and very friendly however she did not compare the nail length so one hand is longer than the other, she also didn't ask me what shape I wanted and from the looks of it the nail polishes look very old. I normally see Eric who's amazing but he's on vacation. I tried a new person today for my dip nails and it was horrible. She was going so fast that she ran off my nails 4 times with the electronic file onto my skin and the 4th time caused my thumb to bleed. Another employee came over and said it hurts because your nails are so long. Nope! I've been going here for two years and never had a problem. She was going too fast. I won't be going back to her again. I was hesitant to post this but I don't like the way it was handled. Clearly my thumb was bleeding! They both saw. I have been getting my nails done for over 20 years. However over the last 5 years I've noticed , regardless of where I go, my nails lift very easily. ( sometimes the first set last but after that the lifting starts) . A full set of acrylic nails might last 5-7 days. Nails start lifting within a few days. Therefore I had given up and started just buying the glue on nails from walgreens. After about a year of doing that I noticed the glue was destroying my already fragile nail beds. I decided to look online to somewhere close to me and found Max salon. Furthermore lucked out with getting Nikki as my nail tech. This is the first time in years that not a single nail has lifted! I wrote a review for Max Nails at their original location 3-4 years ago, but I wanted to update, since I just went to their new second location in Mercato Grove, not far from their first location. It is beautiful! The pedicure room was separated from the rest of the nail salon, which was relaxing. They had very nice massage chairs, a bigger variety of shellac polish to choose from, good music playing, and the decor was very fun, with vines and fairy lights on the ceiling in the pedi room. Loved the vibe! I went with the express pedicure as I only had an hour break from work, and I saw Anna. She was efficient, gave a great leg massage, and I was in and out in 40 minutes, which I appreciated being short on time. The price seems about on par for nail salons in the area. He would ask her questions and she didn't know the answer to about her nails. And made her feel like an idiot for not knowing the answers. The girl I had was very nice and even funny. My daughter and I both visited Max Nails today for a dip manicure. My daughter had two different nail technicians which was obviously a scheduling oversight. My technician was clearly new and had no social skills. She repeatedly nicked my fingers and cuticles with the power nail drill/sanding tool. I asked her several times to slow down. After she cut her own gloves twice with the power nail drill she decided to remove her gloves. I asked her to stop and requested another employee/technician/manager finish my nails. The "fixer" looked at my nails and said he knew right away something was wrong with the work performed. My fingertips hurt so bad and I had already wasted 1.5 hours there.
