I called a day ahead of time and reserved a softball batting lane for one hour. Upon arrival I…read morechecked in at the front desk. Because this was my first time here, I asked the young lady where the batting cages are. She led me to the corner and I realized the cage was not set up (netting was not extended and machines were lined against the wall). While she was helpful in pulling the netting out for us, she quickly told me she doesn't know how to set up the pitching machines. (I don't either). Seeing that she wasn't going to even bother trying to figure it out for me, I started crawling around on the floor trying to figure it out. I found that it was not plugged in. I asked where the outlets are and she shrugged saying "probably behind those wrestling mats". These were HUGE wrestling mats stacked well over my head. We stared at each other for a bit: Me in disbelief that this employee couldn't help me in setting up my reserved lane and she just didn't see the issue. Finally, I took the initiative to take an extension cord from a neighboring baseball lane and pulled it over to my lane to hook it up. Lastly, I had to pull the pitching machine by myself, from the wall, to the lane (they are VERY heavy). This process of setting up my own lane took approximately 15-20 minutes. I also asked for a tee and she told me they're all broken. The kicker: 10 minutes before my reservation time would end, the same employee came over to let me know that the next reservation was here and that we needed to wrap it up. I laughed and said: "we barely had the opportunity to start since I had to set up my own lane and now you're kicking us out early??" At the end of the day I did the right thing and didn't argue with a 16 year old. But I thought management should know 1. Reservations for lanes should be set up and ready to go for the customer when they arrive at their start time. 2. Having customers move those machines is a liability waiting to happen. 3. Employees should know how to use/set up the equipment. 4. Reservation times should be honored/refunded especially if 20 minutes of the customer's time was spent doing the employee's job.

I have been a member at MVP for a couple of years now. It's one of the largest facilities in GR…read morewith multiple locations. Second only to the Y. The location here at Burton and East Paris is usually pretty busy, they have a large pool and lots of kids use it in the Summer months. The parking lot is substantial. I use my membership primarily for tennis classes and tennis lessons. I have weekly lessons here and often attend the "free swing" class which is 45 min of drills and games free of charge for members. They also have various "cardio tennis" classes which are a mix of running laps and tennis drills. There are 6 top notch courts and they regularly replace the balls. The rest of the gym is just kind of mediocre. The locker rooms smell like chorine because of the pool, and the bathrooms are fine but not as nice as they could be. Considering MVP is one of the priciest gyms around, its debatable whether I'm getting enough use out of it. I wish this location had a walk/run track like the Rockford location and the Y do. I don't work out here regularly aside from tennis so I have little opinion as far as the other machines go. I know they are located on the upper level of the facility and it usually seems to be busy up there. MVP is a hopping spot, the price makes it seem more pretentious that it is in actuality.

I am somewhat sad about my membership no longer being honored by Priorty Health I have made many friends at the club. I am uncertain what I am going to do as far as staying. I wish they had a membership for seniors that would make the club more affordable I know they are offering a 47.00 for 6 mo than it goes up which would really put a strain on my income. hopefully at some point they can have a special senior rate. However I highly recommend MVP and if you have a family it's a must for the outdoor pool in the summer time. Like I said earlier I am very sad that this is coming to an end for me.

So I did not. I approached her twice and she did not talk to me. The third time, she did and was extremely rude and accusatory of me running a business out of her gym. She told me she would speak to the other owners to allow me to record exercise videos and get back to me quickly. She didn't. I called the gym a week later and left her a message. She didn't call me back. Poor leadership and even worse management skills. I wouldn't go back to this place. Was like going back in time. In a bad way.

It has been my "go-to" gym since. I have found the people who work there are pleasant and helpful and the other members have always been friendly to me and nice. I get greeted each time I go in, by employees and members, I feel welcomed and wanted there. I get encouragement from the members and I give back as good as I get. Its a small gym but suits my needs, the only thing it doesn't have is a hot tub,, that would be great specially in the winter time--- just a suggestion!
