This is a quaint hotel in a good location. The staff are helpful and friendly so no complaints there. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and in need of updating. The walls need to be painted and the plaster on the walls needs to be redone. There's also the not insubstantial matter of the many and various steep staircases throughout the hotel. I had to go up three extremely steep staircases to get to my room, with almost no light for the top two staircases, which are covered in dark blue carpet that makes it difficult to see in full daylight. This is exceptionally dangerous, particularly at night, and should not be allowed. There should also be warnings for prospective guests before they book. My mother could barely make it up the one staircase (she has emphysema) without needing an inhaler. If we had known about the staircase conditions we would have stayed elsewhere. read more
