If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. I want to share an outstanding experience I had at Mavis Discount Tire at 589 Willis Ave, Williston Park, NY 11596. From the moment I walked in on Sunday, I was greeted by Ken--who I believe is the manager--and immediately felt like I was in great hands. His professionalism, courtesy, and clear communication were above and beyond. Even though Sunday was fully booked (which says a lot about how trusted and busy they are), Ken still took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done for my brakes. He walked me through the entire early drop-off process for Monday morning--showing me where the key envelopes were, how to fill one out, and where the secure key drop box in the garage was. Dropping the car off before they opened was effortless. On Monday, Ken called me around 11 AM to let me know my car was ready--exactly as quoted the day before, with no surprises. I told him I'd be there after work around 5 PM, and he said no problem at all. When I arrived, the car was exactly where he said it would be, perfectly repaired, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish. Ken and his entire team were phenomenal. In an industry where great customer service can be hard to find, this Mavis location truly stands out. Their honesty, professionalism, and follow-through are unmatched. Thank you, Ken. 2023 Subaru WRX. I was on my way to church in New Hyde Park and one of my tires had blown out on the way, so I had my car towed to this Mavis since it was nearby. I just needed a tire, so I figured Mavis was safe choice. WRONG. Even though only one tire was blown, they recommended I replace 2 since my car is AWD, which is fine..it makes sense. I agreed to the 2 tires + service with the mount/balance and labor charge it came out to $350. When I ubered to the Mavis after my car was ready, I found it in the street rather than the parking lot and immediately noticed an foul smell coming from the engine bay. I shrugged it off as a mechanical/shop smell and drove off. I noticed it driving differently immediately, it was much more difficult to get it into gear. I proceeded to get a car wash & air freshener only for the smell to remain. I took my car to Subaru service center a few days later and they diagnosed that my clutch was completely shot. I feel like whoever handled it either at the tow company or this ship did NOT know how to drive manual and completely took advantage of the fact that I was not present during any of this. Now something that should have been $200 is turning out to be $2000. Based on all the other negative reviews, they should just shut this place down. read more

Horrible new management. Now me and my friends are going to avoid this place.The new manager was very rude for something very small. We have a very respected community and do not want rude business in our area. I have been going to this place for several years and give about 5 bucks to fill air because I develop a relationship also because the guys had done so much work on my car. So, last week after work I went there, the new manager came out with an irritated look. after I told him that I would like the to get air like in the past, this is what he told me, "if you want free air, you have to wait." IS THIS A WAY TO TALK TO A WOMAN? I told him that I have been paying and do not take any service for free. Then he said, "you wait or leave the car here..."in a very rude and disrespectful way. When for an Oil change and an inspection. Got the oil change couldn't get the inspection needed brakes so they gave me a price of almost $1100+ for front and rear brakes. without any rotors.. . went to my mechanic and it's only cost me $491 to do the front and rear brakes and don't need Rose.this place is such a rip off don't go there!! Terrible experience. I bought two new tires, and they left an old tire on instead of rotating a new tire. As soon as I left the store the low pressure light came on. Al, at the front desk, the guy who was all smiles when I was buying tires, insisted that I mast have gotten a puncture as soon as I pilled out of the store, which would be an unlikely coincidence. He acted like he was doing me a big favor by checking the tires he had just sold me. He became rude. Smile was gone. It took two hours for them to look at my tire. Zero stars. read more

I called ahead to speak about cost and how long a wait. The man who answered was rude . I called back after the first call to find out how much for inspection? Every answer was aggressive I got there after in the phone call ahead telling me I can be taken right away Not the case I sat there waiting 20 minutes for the advisor to check in a customer. When he came to me he was agitated to attend to me. I called another Mavis which is where I went. Terrible customer service experience. I purchased two tires and had them installed, but no one from the shop contacted me when the job was completed. I called three times, was rerouted to voicemail each time, and never received a call back. When I arrived at the shop, I was hit with an unexpected $50 "service fee" that was never mentioned up front. To make matters worse, they lost my custom-colored tire valve covers. When I asked about them, the staff acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and gave no explanation or apology. Completely unprofessional. I will be reaching out to corporate. Brought in my own tire to install on my car and at first they said they don't do that they only install their own tires, so I was about to walk out. The service writer then agreed after inspecting the tire to install it. Once installed it was driven about a half mile to my apt garage. Upon returning a day later in my garage I noticed the tire was deflated. I then took it back to Mavis and they said oh you had a nail in the sidewall and proceeded to try to sell me a new tire! The manager Ken is very shady and got in my face. They are awful liars and I will never return. There was nothing wrong with the tire and they are taking advantage of people here. read more

I had a NYS inspection, oil change and tire fixed at Mavis. All the work was done professionally and quickly. They repaired a tire that the dealership said needed replacement. It was a simple nail the needed a plug. Mavis didn't try to sell me a new tire that wasn't needed like the dealer. Highly recommended you go to honest tire experts with you tire issues. Minus 100 stars! THIEVES!! LIARS!! Avoid these ripoff artists at all costs!! Went in Summer of 2022 for an inspection. They told me I need a tire replacement and struts in order to pass inspection. I took them at their word, and had the work done. We returned this Friday for an inspection on my husband's car, which is only a weekend car and doesn't even get driven 500 miles a year and had tires replaced two years ago. Sure enough when we called them to see if the inspection was complete, they told us it wouldn't pass without tires and struts and would cost $685!!! Seriously, the same thing again!!?? We told him not to touch the car that we would be going elsewhere. When we went to get it back we saw it hadn't been moved from the spot we left it in!!! We went to an HONEST mechanic (didn't tell him anything, just that we needed inspection). Of course there were no issues and car passed inspection with flying colors! $37! Made an appointment for an inspection at noon. Arrived on time and asked how long the wait would be and was quoted 30 min by Singh. He told me I can take a seat and wait but I chose to go for a walk instead and asked that he call when the vehicle is ready. I hadn't received a phone call and returned an hour later to find they hadn't even started the inspection. Singh said it was going to be another 10 min after he disappeared for 5 min to check on the status of the vehicle. When I mentioned that an inspection usually only takes about 10-15 min and he basically just told me they haven't even started yet. I pointed out that the RX that was dropped off after me just drove out of here and I doubt whatever service he was here for couldn't be faster than an inspection. Singh proceeded to give a bunch of excuses and offered to let me take the car which I did. I had an appointment and was quoted a wait time, although I ended up waiting double that for nothing. With regard to the RX, he had mentioned the car was brought in earlier before my appointment and they were waiting on a part so the owner brought it back after I arrived. Singh clearly saw the owner on line behind me to check in...if that was really the case, at least quote me a more realistic time even though you should be honoring your appointments first. Glad I just took the car and left after reading the reviews below regarding their treatment of women (RX owner was a man) and essentially forcing the purchase of windshield wipers. read more

On my way to work, my tire ripped completely and after triple A replaced it I drove straight to my local Mavis. They are extremely helpful and efficient. They had my tires ready in about 30-45 minutes and the work was pristine. Casseus at the front desk was very helpful with getting my tires all sorted it out and checking me in and out quickly to ensure I was on my way out in a timely manner. I was very impressed with their work and efficiency. I will return if I have any other complications with my car in the future. read more

they are open sundays which is great. i got an inspection there and they told me i needed new wiper blades on my honda and charged me $50. Took advantage of the fact that it would cost me more than $30 in time to get my own and bring the car back. Wont be going there again. Wont be upset if they go out of business. read more

I was trying to bring in about 6 litters of used motor oil to this location for recycling because I do oil change on my car every six months myself. This guy name Julio seems to be a store manager or supervisor refused to take used oil and told me that they don't accept used motor oil at this location. I tried to show him the New York State law where they are required to accepted used motor oil up to 5 gallons per day per person, and he just ignored it. When I asked him why he didn't take them it's because you just ignore the law or just not taking mine? His response was he is ignoring the New York State Law. I have purchased tires, and done alignments at this location before. i won't come back and give them business anymore because how can I trust and give business to a store that simply ignores New York State Laws and shows no courtesy at all. read more

When I arrived the next day I was told "the system was down" which meant they wouldn't honor my reservation and could not service my car. I took my $1,000 repair around the corner to another company. Please do NOT use this place. I went in for a simple leak in my two front tires. Was told a couple hours. No call that night. I call the next day and was told it's ready. I get in to drive and tire light is on. I pull back in and look at the tires and THOSE AREN'T MY TIRES!!!!!!! I had to show them that I don't have white walls on my security camera. They say the tech didn't understand and took all the tires off and just put them back on. That's a far fetched story. I really don't think these are even mine. First off, I want to say I came here during the pandemic, so you can only imagine how overwhelmed they were. One of my tires was low and I wasn't sure if it needed a patch or just needed a fill. I went to jiffy lube (wouldn't look at my tires) and Goodyear (super packed). However, the manager/owner there was so wonderful and understanding. Even though they were busy and short staffed, he suggested that they put air in the tire for now and just monitor it for the time being. terrible service , young people who don't know what their doing at this location I unfortunately caught a flat tire so I came in for a simple tire change mind you i am from another state so I was hoping for a good experience so that i can make it back home , i came in 45 minutes before closing time and as soon as I got there they were all looking at me like i was from another planet I could already tell they were going to be no help , I showed them my rim and they were all saying oh this can't be done here you need special tools ...... like this is a tire shop and they can't remove a simple tire ??? Due to their lack of skills and not knowing how to do their job I was left in New York for a whole day stranded I would not recommend this place young stupid kids who don't know how to remove a tire oh and to add onto it the manager told me I had to get off the parking lot even though my car was on a flat , do not come here no morals or value of customer at all , this place needs to be shut down or something needs to be done fire all the workers here who don't know what their doing read more

We had been coming to this Williston Park location for years without issue but that was before Ken became the service manager. I cannot recommend that any female (especially a white one) patronize this store. Ken took male patrons before me out of order. He failed to tell me when my car was ready instead made a snarky comment. But incredibly, after I got my car and I walked back in to advise him that the tires were not evenly pressurized, he told me to drive away and they would reset automatically. I tried to explain to him it wasn't just the vehicle message (which also hadn't reset) but the actual pressure per the car's psi reading. Ken was arguing, talking over me and refusing to listen. At that point I began to explain the reading to the mechanic, who was knowledgeable and understood the issue. Well Ken wouldn't have this. He got in between us physically and directed the mechanic to take his instructions from him not me. Ken then said "my jelly was out of my donut", there was something very wrong with me and called me "a Karen". Luckily, the mechanic worked with me anyway and adjusted the psi. Ladies beware!!! I have gone here many times throughout my life as I live around the block. They have recently changed management and every since then have been nothing but lies and delays. Every time I have gone to them they do not work on my car until I have checked several times with them throughout the day. They keep the car for days and charge ridiculous prices for it. They told me my newly replaced struts were defective after I said I was hearing a noise, BUT FHEY DIDNT EVEN LIFT THE CAR UP TO CHECK OR TAKE THE TIRE OFF. I proceed to bring the car into my yard, check it myself, tighten a lose screw and secure a part. Then the noise went away and started working amazing. Yet they wanted me to come back and spend my money getting needless things replaced. They waste your time and only want you to spend more money on them. I gave one star because they took me right in and tried to help with tire which i had before been stressed and stranded on highway for 2 hrs, appreciated very much but for me to leave the shop and realize they took off my whole side skirt to change tire. Not only that when i had stopped about 20 mins down road and got out the side skirt was gone. I am from Massachusetts so one i did not know the area. I had spoken to them to come back and talk about it, drove 45 mins back for them to argue and tell me they had told me they were going to take off part, which i would've NEVER allowed, to then switch the story to my friend had said it, which she also confirmed with us all there that she NEVER did. To then write a paper that they " wanted me to sign " stating that they had told me and how i knew they were taking off side skirt to do tire change" and "there was 3 people sitting inside car" when i was only person inside the car. I will never be coming here again. First we called the store and they told us 40 min. Than we dropped off and at drop off they said 2 hours. We called after 2 hours and they said they are just getting to it now. Everything we've been told is a lie here. I came in because after 3 hours we still didn't hear back. Been waiting in the lot and I see them take off the wrong wheel and tell me how bad my rear breaks are... i went in to get the 2 front tires replaced. Why are I taking off my back wheels. After we went into the lot to wait, they went away and no one was near the car. After another 20 min of seeing no one near the car I walk in and see four young kids maybe age 20 or less all on their phones in uniform talking about movies and magazines. No ones working on the car. I tell them I have to leave and they said okay 15 min we'll be done. Needless to say they weren't done in 15 min. It took another 40 min after that. I had 5 hours to spare and I was still late to my next appointment because of Mavis. This place lost all my respect and service moving forward which sucks because I just moved into this area and needed a decent tire place. If the owner is reading this. Casseus, David, Fernando? and the other younger gentlemen working are the reasons I'll never be back here again. And you should reconsider paying these guys to sit and do nothing when cars are on the loft not being worked on. read more
