Noticing a lot of reviews with similar details so I think readers would be wise not to bring their business here. Came in for a singular tire repair, they convince me to do all four. They tell me it'll take 1-2 hours, and I was there for 7 hours. Multiple times I asked what was going on and they kept giving me BS about "losing the fourth tire," and when I had enough and told them to put my old tires on they magically "heard there's another tire down the street" and drive somewhere to get it then came back and finally let me leave. IT GETS WORSE. After leaving that day and driving for a couple days, I kept feeling this crazy vibrating from under the car if I went over 50mph. So I take it back to Mavis and they claim that I DAMAGED the tires and that they can't help me fix them unless I wanna pay another excessive amount of money to wait an entire day again for them to sit around and change a tire when they feel like it. The workers were also quite disrespectful towards me during this conversation. I have been getting my tires changed/replaced and rotated, brakes replaced, oil changed and etc here and they always did a great job. Appointments can be made over the phone or even online & what stands out for this location is they give you a call beforehand to make sure you are still good for your appointment. Antwain and his team did an excellent job servicing my car and gave me excellent advice on how to maintain the life span of my tires. I would definitely recommend this location as the customer service is amazing, they are always on time and they make sure everything is done up to their standards. read more

I purchased 4 brand new tires from Mavis less than a year ago and made sure to to purchase a warranty. I recently went out of town about 3 and a half hours away and my tire blew out. Roadside assistance was able to put my donut on my car until I was able to find a local shop that was able to put a used tire on my car. I had no room in my car for luggage and two tires so I left the blown out tire at the shop out of town. Naturally I brought back the donut just in case the used tire blew out. I'd also like to mention that I tried to find a Mavis while I was out of town but couldn't find one nearby so I had to wait until I made it back home. I made an appointment a week in advance to have my tire changed at Mavis. They called to confirm my appointment same day but never asked if I had the original tire. I showed up to my appointment today and had the worst experience. The young lady that was initially trying to help me told me that she'd "see what she could do for me" and told me I would have to pay around $200 for a brand new tire then she magically got the price down to $125. She was helpful but I was trying to explain that this was a special case and that I shouldn't have to pay for a brand new tire especially when I have a warranty and do business with Mavis/STS frequently. She brought out her manager Chris who was super rude and acted like he didn't want to help. I explained the situation to him and he told me there was nothing he could do. His tone was very nonchalant and his body language was as as if he didn't care about anything I had to say. He wasn't trying to help me find a solution aside from purchasing a new tire. I asked him for corporates number and he told me "they're just going to tell you the same thing I'm telling you." Really? It eventually got to the point where he yelled to the guy in the garage to "pull the fucking car out" and walked away from the conversation. That's no way to treat a loyal paying customer. I'm a pretty reasonable person and understand how warranties work but as I previously mentioned, this is an anomaly. I was more so concerned about getting back home safely than trying to figure out how to pack my coupe, with two tires and tons of luggage. No compassion whatsoever. I said that's why I made an appointment; so I didn't have to wait. Girl said customers came in before me there was nothing she could do. Again, I said that's why I made an appointment. I took my car for oil change and tire rotation 2-3 weeks back. I had bought all 4 tires from Mavis so figured why not get the lifetime tire rotation. They broke the stem for one of my tires when trying to secure the wheel lock then the manager tells me that they will fix the broken stem at no charge (like duhhhh!!!) but the kicker is she tells me to drive to the dealership and pay out of my pocket for a replacement. Then I go to the manager the next day who knew how things go. You break it you pay for it. Not the customer. Anyways still looking for replacement so I can get reimbursed but McGard seems to have stopped making the locks for my truck wheels which are oem. I will now look for another company so I can get reimbursed for the broken wheel lock. read more

I had an appointment for a simple tire repair @ 3:45 pm I waited almost 2 hours while some of the technicians were looking at the repair orders that were hanging and leaving them hang, like they didn't want to be bothered with simple repairs. My vehicle was brought into the service bay, The tire was dismounted, inspected, which is proper repair procedure, however the tire was not patched. It was plugged from the outside which isn't industry standard repair. Additionally my rim was severely damaged by their tire repair machine. After bringing it to management attention. They replied leave me your vehicle for a few days and I'll take care of it . It's a brand new vehicle, if I can't trust the repair facility to do a simple tire repair, what makes them think I'm going to trust them with my vehicle for a few days . Very poor service!! Two hours plus to have a plug put in a tire. I had a 10 AM appointment. Staff was friendly, so this review is a critique of management. This length of time is unacceptable. Short staff and hours should not be my concern. Don't make appointments, call to confirm the appointment AND send an email, without notifying me that you are short staffed and that my appointment would take longer than usual. I could have showed up anytime they asked. Poor management and/or business practice. I changed my tires in 2017 only to go back to them again to be told I had the wrong tires on my car and even claim I didn't buy the tires from them. It took me to call customer service before they came out with the records and the the employee who attended to me was acting like he had issues with me and put on a frown and a dirty attitude as if my presence was a bother. WARNING: They are either completely incompetent or running a scam - Give you different tires than paid for, bait & switch! I bought tires from Mavis and they dry rotted while under warranty. Of course, they said for xyz reason the warranty can't cover them. I picked out new tires around 1PM on Sat. They needed to go pick them up from another location. I said I would leave my car overnight and get it in the morning. Sunday morning I go to pick up my car. They have not done anything. They said they will get right on it. 2 hours later, they say they are done. Turns out they only put on 2 tires, not 4. So now he has to go back to the warehouse to get the other 2 tires. Finally another 3 hours later, the car is finished. They tell me that the price they quoted me in writing was incorrect and now the price is $200 + tax more and they don't know how they got that price and they don't want to get fired, etc. They did honor the price but on the invoice write a novel about how I am a dissatisfied customer, etc. I leave. I get about 25 feet, when something in me tells me to check the tires. I get out. The 4 tires I paid for? Only 2 are there. THE OTHER 2 ARE SOME OTHER TIRE. I spin the car around and at this point I am seeing red. I demand they remove the tires and put back my old ones and refund me in full. This takes another 3 hours. In the meantime, the manager comes over to show me has voided out the sale. However the void is for a lower amount and void is on a VISA when I used AMEX. I show the original receipt which is AMEX and the amount. Then he apologizes says it was a mistake on his end. Well, yeah. Then the service manager comes to me and says that they broke the wheel key for my wheels, so now they have to break off the wheel locks. They have to order the parts from my car manufacturer so I have to leave the car overnight until they can get the new parts, or they can put unlocked lugs on my car. I say they can give me in writing that they are purchasing the wheel locks and wheel key and shipping them to me and then any Mavis will put them back on at no charge. The icing on the cake? They close at 5PM. At 4:15PM, a beautiful woman walks in needing new tires. They fawn over her and have her out before 5:00PM. This experience was a demonstration on how NOT to run a business. I went to the new Mavis Discount Tire in South Plainfield, NJ to see how their prices were since I needed two new tires for my car. The prices seemed about the same as the competitors so I went with them because there were places to eat and get coffee while I would wait. One of the managers told me they didn't have the tires in stock but could get them the next day by 11AM on the delivery truck from the warehouse. I made the appointment for the next day and when I arrived the next morning I was told by a separate manager that the tires weren't there and they could give me another brand of tires that didn't match what was on my car now. With that being said, there was another gentleman there behind the counter that was dressed business casual who was watching and listening to the exchange between myself and the manager. I declined the manager's offer and left. I came back a few mins later and asked the well dressed man if he was the owner, he stated no but he would go in the back and get the manager. The manager came out with the gentleman and I offered if they drop the balancing fee and give me the road hazard fee per tire for free, we have a deal. For some reason he then called the manager from the previous day on the phone to ask him if he ordered the tires for me and even if he even remembered dealing with me. This was also done in front of the well dressed gentleman. The manager on the phone was clueless and their conversation ended. Again the new manager offered me the tires with a slight discount of $10 per tire. That was not even worth my wasted time so I declined and left. I reached out to Mavis Tire on their website to tell of my experience. The regional manager called me back within an hour or so. It turns out that the regional manager was the well dressed man who was at the store and witnessed the situation. I explained to him how disgusted I was that he was actually there and just watched and did absolutely nothing while his management dropped the ball. He couldn't even tell me if he was an owner or management when I asked him. I am going to buy my tires online and have a small shop put them on. Why give Mavis any money in this economy. read more

Recently discovered that my brakes were squealing and grinding and I knew that meant it's time for a brake check. My vehicle is less than 6 years old and I maintain it so I know when I am being scammed. Not only did they give me a good price on the brake pads but when they discovered my rotors needed to be replaced I was surprised at the price. For what I paid I think it was a reasonable price for the amount of work that was put in. Rebecca's customer service was amazing. She called me the morning of my appointment to confirm, listened to my concerns, and gave the right reccomendations for my vehicle. What a clown show. I get there at 10:30 to have 2 new front tires put on my car. The guy tells me it's gonna be a couple of hours so I grab a bite, kill 2 hours go back. Car is up in the air so I figure ok I'm up. Wait 30 mins, there are workers just standing around. My guess is the guys in the white shirts only job is to walk around cracking jokes and looking into the waiting area. I ask the guy if somebody is gonna start on my car now he tries to tell me he said a few hours. He tells me it's gonna be about 5:00. I said, to change 2 tires? Against my suggestions, my mother-in-law got an oil change here about 2 weeks ago (3/14/20.) I stumbled upon the receipt today and it says she was charged 10 dollars for an additional quart of oil over the 5 quarts included in the base price. This did not seem right so I checked the owner's manual which states the capacity is 5.1 quarts. I called the location and they said the software they have says 5.7 quarts is the capacity, they said the owner's manual might be wrong and talked in circles before offering her a 10 dollar credit for a future service. My friend looked up the capacity for the car on his software (he owns a small shop,) 5.7 quarts is the capacity at overhaul. Oil and filter change capacity is actually 4.8 quarts. So either they overfilled the oil by a almost a quart or they charged her for a quart of oil (at a huge markup) that they never actually put in. Never go here if you value your money or car. She was charged close to 80 dollars for just an oil change on a econobox Subaru Impreza. I know they have to make money but don't rip people off. read more

Thank goodness I called Mavis, they saved my day! I have run flats and they are an expensive tire but not only did Mavis have them but at a very responsible price and they don't kill you with pricing for labor. The only thing is they don't keep them on hand, but they still made my appointment for a Mavis that did and they locked in the price that was quoted. First, this place is so slow. I really don't know what they're doing with their time but it does not take over an hour to repair a tire that has a nail in it, especially when an appointment is made. It smells like fries, so they're probably just busy eating instead of working. Out of all the car places there is definitely one that can do faster work, so go there. On another note they said my flat tire was a 'sensor issue' so they just checked the pressure and sent me on my way. Here I am a day later with a tire at 8.5psi not to mention they took off ALL of my valve caps and didn't replace any of them so I had to order new ones. All the hate. read more

I went on the fly to see if I could get a set of good all weather tires for my maxima. First if they were so bad there wouldnt have been a line of people there. I was wondering if I should have called first, but within minutes I was talking to a young man who was the manager. I had done my research and knew what I was looking for. The manager explained he didnt have them there in stock and I could make an apt for the next day. Or he could offer me a tire just as good for a great price. He asked me to research the tires he offered me that he could install today. He wasnt pushy nor did he rush me, it was my decision. So I stepped outside and did my research on his offer and sure enough the tires he said he could install today impressed me more than my original choice. We worked out a great price for about the same price as my original choice and he said he needs a couple hours since others were before me. He didnt take payment until after it was done btw. He called me almost 2 hours later on the dot as he promised. I went in to pick it up and the car was ready for the price we discussed no bait n switch or tricks. I was in and out. Painless. Have been bringing my car here since they opened as STS. Everything was always great the service etc. in April I paid over 500 dollars for new breaks and roters on my car after getting them I noticed how much they squeak. I called and they told me to bring the car in and they will take car of it. When I arrived the acted like they had no idea who I am and why I'm here after looking at my account the MANAGER was Very confrontational and said it would take 4 hours!!!!!! At that time I rescheduled the appointment. I would never bring your car here or any mavis for breaks they use cheap material and refuse to take responsibility for there actions let alone fix the 500 dollars I put out for new breaks and roters. The manager had plenty of notice that I was coming in over a week! Now I must wait another week for this! Absolutely ridiculous way to practice a good buisness! Very very disappointed! I went to this place to get a wheel alignment, I left my car after work and decided to walk around the little mall. Within a 20 minutes I got a call saying that they couldnt align my car because of defective parts. They asked for another $245 in parts and labor plus the $80 for the alignment. I decided to first take it to my regular mechanic to fix the defective parts first and then have it aligned. My mechanic told me that my car was fine, there werent any defective parts to perform the alignment. The very next day I took my car to Firestone for the alignment, it was done perfectly without any reports of bad parts. PEOPLE SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THESE ARE THE TYPE OF MECHANICS THAT STEAL YOUR MONEY BY TELLING YOU THAT YOU HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS WHEN YOU DONT. read more
