We were traveling and stopped in Oswego to visit friends. On a Saturday evening when all tire shops were closed, we realized on of our tires was rather low, we put air in it but it was clearly leaking. We needed to leave Sunday to travel to Buffalo that day, Mavis was the only place open on a Sunday and I booked a 9am service appointment. Being out of town and having something happen to your car is always stressful. The people at Mavis took care of us, found the nail and plugged our tires in under 30 minutes. On top of it the gentleman at thr front desk gave a a discount, he said I know it's hard being out of town and like to help people out, thanks for your business. Was told 1-2 hours for an oil change on my Charger R/T on the phone, (which was bad enough, takes 20 minutes), drove over and was told "Lots of cars ahead of you, 3-4 hours". I guess that's why they're fixing rusty, economy sh*tboxes instead of high end vehicles. read more

I was visiting Oswego, and my rental car got a flat which required replacing the tire. It was on Sunday and thank goodness Mavis was open. (the only tire place in town that was) They knew I had to get to Albany that afternoon, and got at it right away. I had it replaced in no time and was safely on my way. An employee at this Mavis Tire admitted to breaking my drivers side door handle during an inspection. The store recommended a body shop to fix the door THEY broke! I have complained to the store itself and to the Better Business Bereau about this and Mavis has ignored all forms of attempted contact about my complaint. Overcharged, poor service, provided mismatched set of tires. To start, their web site controls the reviews posted so they only display positive reviews and I am not able to post my comments there. I thought I was going in to get 4 winter tires per my phone order. When my wife arrived, she was told that only 2 tires came in and they would be put on at this time. I should mention that we were replacing our summer tires, with only 5000 miles on them and we wanted the summer tires marked with their position on the car and returned. When we went to pick up the car, the summer tires were not marked. They claim they could mark them by looking at them. They started to mark them as if they were removed from the rear but the new tires were put on the front. I pointed this out, but in the end, I think they just guessed. When we brought the car in for the next 2 tires, the clerk attempted to charge us $20 more than the first set. Note: it was after dark when we picked up the car. Several days later, in the daylight, I looked at the tires and realized the 2 sets are not the same. Very frustrated that something so simple could be such a hasle. read more

Beyond satisfied! I needed four tires on my vehicle and knew exactly which ones I wanted. Everywhere I called had no interest since they would have to order them. After having five places give me the run around, I called Mavis. I was completely surprised when they said they could get my tires on in just a few hours. They sent someone down to Syracuse the get my tires, and as promised, had them on shortly there after. I was in Oswego only for the weekend and had a nail puncture a tire. They were open on Sunday, got me in right away, fixed the puncture as well as my state inspection which was due and had me out in an hour. Both employees that I talked to were very friendly. Have been going to Cole Muffler, now Mavis Tire for decades. Would recommend them to anyone. Won't gouge you...fair prices...nice people, and often fast service. They'll tell you when you don't NEED to fix something because nothing is wrong, as so many other places will. And, if it's under warranty from your car manufacturer, they'll tell you that, too, another not gouging you...I recommend them to everyone/anytime. read more

Have been going to Mavis Discount Tires (Cole Muffler) for several years. Not too long ago, I believed I had battery problems as my 2 year-old car wouldn't start. The manager had it checked and informed me the battery was still new and charged; he believed it was a problem with the connections and/or the wiring, and that the vehicle was still under warranty. I took it back to the dealer and -- yep -- that's what it was. They could have definitely sold me a new battery, but for them, the relationship between business and customer is truly important! Was visiting a relative in Oswego and took her car in for and exhaust system repair. Had a 1999 Saturn that had a badly rusted exhaust pipe. I called them first late on a Saturday when the work week was almost over and after just giving them the model number, whether it was a certain type of engine and federal or california emissions i could here the calculator going and they enthusiastically came up with a price around $200 but they said they had to actually see it and check it out for the final price but they had all the parts in stock nothing needed to be ordered delaying its repair. That's critical because if they don't have the parts your stuck until they do. Didn't expect that kind of positive attitude late in the day like that at the end of a work week. Its gets better. I asked when was their first appointment on monday. They said bring it in at 8 am when they opened. You need an appointment on the west coast for everything but not here. That was a nice surprise. THe muffler was still under warranty and they had all the records which of course my relative had lost long ago.. So adding in an oil change, a free warrantied muffler that i had no idea it was under, IM out of there about an hour later with a new exhaust system and oil change for $202. They even added in a new oil drain plug i needed since the old one was stripped and leaking (of course charging me $6 as nothing is free). Now that's the kind of honest service customers like. They totally had their act together from start to finish. From the Service Manager to the auto technician doing the work, they are a well oiled team that knows their business and wont rip you off. Hard to find good honest auto repair shops like this one these days. read more

Got some exhaust work done and it was exactly what I wanted - the service was fantastic and the prices are great. Im not sure their names but the assistant manager on Sun 5/7 and the other gentleman at the front desk are two of the most considerate people around. They deserve a raise. Excellent all around!
