I just stood there in disbelief, waiting quietly for some other answer, nada. I said 'do you remember when I told you yesterday that I wanted the filter and fluid changed and not flushed'? It took a moment for it to sink in until he said yes. I left it another day, checked it again and just like that there's a new gasket on the pan. I went in to pay and chat. Though it was a shortened holiday work week, they were able to squeeze me in at 4 pm Friday. I called during my drive up to let them know I would be late due to crash and construction delays. They close at 5 but said they'd do their best. When I arrived at 5:15, my service technician, service manager, his son, and the owner were there to greet me. They assured me it was fine and my car was whisked away for its inspection. I got a chance to speak with the owner who told me VanDervort has been around for over 100 years at the same location. We had a heartfelt conversation about my medical journey, medical miracles like hip replacements, cars, and more. Soon, my car had passed inspection and I was free after many months in which I was not able to drive, to go. At the end, there was a sweet surprise that, when I told my cousin about it during my trip back, she said, "I'm crying" (tears of joy).
