Walked back nothing happened, they were waiting for me. Pushing for new tires, new shocks. Now, two of my tires were a bit worn but it wasn't necessary yet. How about the plug? No....you need a new tire. Ok. Kept pushing the shocks. Now I only have 50k miles on my van and the shocks feel fine. please do not go to Mavis located in Howell,nj. I took my car there not even two weeks ago for an oil change. the next day my engine light and awd malfunction, and oil pressure sensor came on. I took my car to the Lexus dealer the next day for a inspection. it cost me $500 because they found an crushed after market oil filter cartridge . They broke the filter and tried to replace it with an after market. Causing the oil not to properly flow thru the passage . I brought my car in for new tires and a front brake job. The work was completed, but as the they were pulling my vehicle out the Mavis driver suddenly shifted my car into forward and rammed it into the lift support beam causing significant damage. I was quite upset as i watched this happen. I asked for their insurance company and was told to speak to the regional manager instead. I provided him a quote from my auto body shop and he stated that it was too high based on his estimates. They never looked at my car! Insane! In New Jersey working. It's Sunday, mid-day. It's raining. The time is 1:30pm and I have an appointment at 3pm. Costco says no way for any type of tire service as they're swamped. I passed this shop a day earlier and by some miracle, I remembered where it was located. Parked, got out, was greeted immediately by the manager on duty. Told him my situation and asked if he could help. By the grace of whomever, they had my tire in stock and were able to get me right in. -(Had a nail in my side-wall, so no repair possible) - I sat in their waiting area exactly 35 minutes and then, poof, it was done! In total awe at the level of prompt and professional service I received. Ultra nice crew. Incredibly unprofessional. I have had 3 recent experiences here. The first two times the manager Gail reassured me that things would be better the following time. If you leave your car there to address an oil change or a tire service they literally won't start working in the car until you come back. I've been told the car will be ready in two hours. Have come back in 3-4 and my car hasn't been touched, and you still wait another 90 minutes. It's an oil change. Jiffy lube does it in 20 minutes. Not sure why it takes my car being there 5 hours, especially if I make an appointment ahead of time. I just bought a set of tires. After the installation the tire pressure monitoring system light came on and no pressures were detected in any of the tires. Unfortunately I wasn't the one to bring the car back so it went unnoticed until I sat in the car. I called them and they said to bring the car in. Matt tried to convince me that one of my sensors was broken...independent of their work. In addition they tried to explain that a solitary sensor being broken would knock out all of them. These aren't Christmas lights where one broken light messes up everything else. The sensors are independent. I contacted the Lexus dealer to confirm and they assured me that it is impossible for one broken sensor to knock out the monitoring of all of them. It's sad because I used to have great experiences at Mavis, but I'll never bring my business here again, at the very least not to this location as they are clearly unscrupulous and assume their customers are idiots. I wouldn't recommend going here I paid 745 for a full brake job and when I got my car back the rear brake was making a knocking noise and the next day my rear back brakes started seizing and grinding extremely loud. Go to find out it's because a bolt fell out of my caliper thanks to someone not doing their job properly. I'd expect with the price I'm paying that I'd atleast be guaranteed good service. Luckily there wasn't any further damage to the car it seems for now but driving it in the shape it was felt very unsafe and I can't believe they just let me out the shop with a loose caliper. As I was sitting here waiting for more than an hour for them to put a bolt into my caliper another couple came in with a complaint about a similar situation and at the same time someone got their wiper blades replaced and when they got the car there was only one wiper blade. As small as that seems it just shows how little they're paying attention to the work they're doing to your car and your safety isn't the priority. Just the fact another car left the shop is all that matters to them. The Customer service is very good though, one guy gave me a sort of deal on the brake job at first and after when I got my caliper fixed he went out and bought the part I needed with his own money which was appreciated but I won't be able to trust them ever again and I won't be returning. Super friendly people however if you want to save money and possibly time I'd suggest another auto shop. read more

I am disappointed in the customer service I received this morning at the Howell location. I had a 9:00 appointment to have one tire replaced. My car was not taken in for about a half an hour to forty minutes after my arrival. It then took another hour and a half. I finally asked the employee at the front desk-Guy who told me he is sorry but other people's upsells took priority and caused a delay in my car being finished. At that time I saw another employee walk over to where my car was being worked on it started to come down and they told me a few more minutes. I was surprised at the reason for my car being delayed and thought it was interesting that it was only until I inquired that it was then finished up. I understand things take longer than expected but was disappointed at the reason and the way it was handled. As a first time customer I don't think I would be back. Beware if you make an appointment other people's upsells may affect your time. read more

I went to Mavis Tire in Howell to get tires replaced yesterday. I had them install 2 tires and I was going to have them do an alignment. When I saw how my car was on the lift I told them and when they examined it they minimized the issue. I guess that's easier to do when it is someone else's property. I ended up canceling the alignment. I feel if they cannot place a car on the lift properly how can I trust them do an alignment. The rocker panels were deformed between the lift arms and the weight of the car. The end of the rockers was pinching the fenders and the reveal between the rockers and the doors is off slightly. I am not sure what is concealed behind the rockers but, will need to take it to have it inspected to assure that there is no concealed damage. I just went there to have a couple of tires installed; and did not know what I was signing up for. read more

I wasted my time today thanks to Mavis. I don't like wasting my time. I used Mavis Discount Tire in Howell to put two tires on my car in August 2019. They were easy to work with and they guided me on the tires they suggested. My car had Pirelli tires on it but they told me that they were not really good tires and did not last as long as expected. They suggested Michelin Pilot. I bought them and was happy with them. I recently noticed that I need the other two tires replaced, so I decided to go to Mavis again. I went online and selected the same two Michelin Pilot tires to install. The web site said they were in stock, so I made a reservation 3 days out. I showed up at the reservation time, and the guy checking me in said that they were waiting for them to be shipped to them. WHAT???? When I made the reservation the web site said they were in stock. He told that just means they are in the warehouse and needed to be shipped. OK, but it's been three days, why were they not there yet? Then he told me that they might not have them in the warehouse and he tried to sell me Pirelli tires instead. WHAT??? 18 months they told me that Pirelli tires weren't good tires and today they tried to upsell me to them. To see if I could find a better price I looked at a couple other web sites and every other place could get them for me but it would take 3 days or more so I decided to stick with Mavis. BAD MOVE!!! What a waste of time. I now ordered them at Tirerack and I have to wait for delivery and have a reservation to have them installed upon arrival. But at least I know they are going to be delivered. My recommendation is don't waste your time with Mavis Discount Tire. read more

The manager who called me that my car was ready was very rude. I explained to him I was supposed to get a call on how much everything was going to be and never received that call. Then I go pick up my car and told them I'm hearing a noise in the rear end when I was told the rear end was good. The mechanic who worked on my car said she didn't hear a noise. The manager was telling me they only work on what I told him to work on and he got very rude and mad when I asked "you guys don't check for other things". He got very rude and said to me "you don't know me" and moving his hands like a tough guy. The manager was very unprofessional and I am not happy. All I wanted was to find out why I still hear a noise. After taking the mechanic for a ride come to find out there is more issues thats going on in the rear end. read more

I told them to forget it and to give me the key back. The guy behind the counter felt the need to remind me he said it would take 1.5 hours to get to it. When I first walked in , I noticed he was in the middle of giving another customer a hard time . then he got nasty with me next when I tried to ask a question . Just not a nice guy. Very condescending and impatient . As it Turns out , he has a bad reputation even with his workers and is not well liked . ( they were not surprised when I walked out and refused to deal with this guy .) Corporate really needs to do a better job vetting the people they hire . My car requires special run-flat tires with different sized front & rear tires. While shopping around on line I called the Howell NJ Mavis Discount Tire center and spoke with "Frank". He quoted me for the tires and then when I said I would get back with him he asked if I was shopping price to which I said yes. He reduced the price and I gave him the order for the tires. He emailed me a confirmation for the order and appointment time. When I went to get the tires put on they said "Frank" was off that day and they only had the two front tires and the two rear tires would be delivered in the afternoon. After replacing one blown tire they said they would call me when the tires arrived. Not only did they never call me but at the end of the day when I called them, they told me they could not get the rear tires! When I asked them how do I get this resolved they said they did not know. Multiple calls to the Howell tire center to try to resolve this even with a completely different set of tires have gone without a response, each time a different person answers stating someone will call back but they never do. When I ask to speak with a manager they tell me he if off today, as he was yesterday when I asked. On the top of the Mavis invoice there a a customer service number, 800-757-4291, to call "If you are not 100% satisfied". I have called multiple times and left messages with their operator, each time they said someone was going to call me right back. On day two of this nightmare and I again called both the store and corporate multiple times with no response and I am still left trying to resolve this and have no tire for my car! In over 40 years of owning cars I have NEVER experienced such deceptive and non-responsive customer service. read more

Do not purchase a warranty from this business. Literally had a blowout after having tires brand new tires put on months prior to this accident. Spence, the store manager was rude and disrespectful. His manager was even more unhelpful and the corporate office never called me back. On top of purchasing a warranty that was never honored, my accident could have caused severe damage to myself in my vehicle after arguing with Mavis over the fact that they were the only people who had touched my tires they still charged me $400 do not buy tires from them and do not purchase a warranty. They are the worst. They wanted to fight the fact that their establishment was the only place to touch my tires. instead of being apologetic about the fact that my tires were not put on properly and caused a blowout.
