Had a 9:30 am appt. Told it would be 2 hours for my inspection , oil change and wheel alignment . Came back after 3 hours . Seems they couldn't figure out how to take paperwork and keys 10 feet to mechanic to do work . Car just sat their for 3 hours . And it wasn't even busy . Then finally at 2:45 the car was done . That's 5 hours and 15 minutes to do an inspection , oil change and wheel alignment . Wasted my day and was robbed of opportunity to complete other errands due to incompetence . Not happy read more

I am done with this place. I have brought 4 separate cars into the Bethpage location over the last 2 years. EVERY time, I have to come back and get the lug nuts set to the correct torque. EVERY time they make them so tight I cannot get them off even with my own air tools. The last time I brought it back a different technician than the one who worked on my car said they were too tight. How do you expect someone on the side of the road to get them off? Even their own site says that it causes problems (http://www.mavistire.com/productcart/pc/_proper_tire_installation.asp). They don't follow it. They even have a torque chart hanging behind the desk. Not that they use it. Today I brought in my daughter's car to have tires I bought off TireRack.com installed at 10am. I specifically said, Please do not over tighten the lugs. No call by 4 (they close at 6) so I decided to stop by. Of course, the car is ready but no call. Awesome customer service. NOT!! In the parking lot, I tested the lugs myself with my own 4way lug wrench. I could not budge them. WTF!!! When I went back in to have that fixed, I asked if they use torque bars (they used to). The answer was "We are breaking the lugs and hand tightening them". WTF!!! Stay away from this place. I dare anyone who had tires replaced to use a lug wrench to take them off. You will bust a stud before those nuts come off. I cannot rate lower than 1 star. I wish I could. They deserve negative stars. read more

Stopped in because of a nail in my tire. I was met by a nasty rude woman who turned me away because the shop was busy. The shop was empty and the mechanics weren't doing anything. I called her out on this and she said she was waiting for very late appointments to show up. read more

I took my car there for new tires. I drove off and it pulled to the right --very badly. Couldn't drive the car without fighting the pull to the right. They said I should have gotten the alignment done. So I had them do it. I paid and picked up the car --same bad pull to the right. I drove back to the shop and asked if they had done the alignment --they said yes. The manager asked the mechanic to come out test drive it. He came back and said Wow, what a bad pull to the right. No kidding Einstein. He checked the car out and said it was the front struts. I said ok I guess change them --came back the next day (day 3 without my car) paid, drove off the lot and it pulled to the right. Now I'm mad. I went back in there reprimanding them for NOT test driving the car. It still pulled to the right. They asked that I leave the car there for further evaluation. So I took an uber home. Later that day the mechanic said it was my rack and pinion steering that's shot. What? He said they don't do that work and to come and pick up the car. I told this story to a friend who said his buddy fixes cars at his house and would look at it --so I brought my car to this guy's house. He spotted the problem in 4 minutes. He asked are these new tires? I said yes. He said the one on the right is warped. A factory defect. He showed me by switching the front tires around. The car now pulled to the left. He put them back and it now pulled to the right. He said don't go to Mavis--their tires are crap and their mechanics no nothing. I took the car to Goodyear in Levittown --Nice guys --and purchased 4 new Goodyear tires. The car drove off the lot like it was floating on air. Mavis of Bethpage WAS a decent place years ago. But the old manager is gone and the new people there are dumber than a bucket of rocks. read more

They seized my sons engine. They deserve NO STARS. My son took his 2012 Mazda in to get a simple oil change and they screwed up. Someone didn't screw something on right and the same day all my sons oil leaked out of his car. We immediately took it back and they fixed and filled the oil tank back up. The manager apologized said it was entirely their fault and if we had any problems at all they would accommodate us. He explained he has insurance for these kinds of mistakes and if anything were to happen to the engine they would take care of it. Well about a month later my sons engine started knocking. We immediately brought into the shop and it needs a new engine bc of Mavis mistake. We called Mavis and the manager was rude and said there is nothing he will do and to call the warranty. The warranty will not cover and we are now responsible for a new $8000 engine. Mavis pretty much hung up on us when we contacted them back and said to bad. I now have to start a big process filing claims with dmv to make them pay for their mistake. Not to mention my son has been out of a car now for 2 months while it sits at the shop, while we continue to make loan payments to the bank and he had to drop out of college classes bc of transportation problems. I am so upset with Mavis and how they destroyed my sons car with a simple oil change and their response to the situation. I will make sure Mavis is responsible for what they did no matter the inconvenience it may bring me. Please stay far away from this place they are unqualified!!!!!!! read more

VERY DISHONEST! I brought my car in for rear brake pads and had a coupon for $69.99 and an inspection. A guy named "Rich" called me and told me I needed additionally rotors, calipers for $475. He also said I needed a new exhaust system for $875. I told him I wanted only my brakes done and he refused. I stated I wanted my car back. I went to pick to pick my car up and there was a bill for the inspection. I spoke w/the manager "Ken" and he was rude and said that its our policy to do the inspection because I asked for it. Hmm. why would I go through with an inspection if my by brakes were bad?? STAY AWAY! read more

Stay away. The tire brands they'll sell you are sub par for the money you are spending (different from their ads - bait and switch) - better off going to good year, costco, bj's - same money you get name brand tires. They also are the worst at customer service. We had 4 tires put on a car we were getting ready to sell (so I didn't care so much about the brand). We didn't buy the warranty, again because we were selling the car. One of the tires developed a bubble on the side wall after about 2 weeks - an obvious defect which should be covered by the Warranty (says so right on the back of the receipt!). The manager Rob refused to honor the warranty and said the bubble must have been caused by how we drove the car (we must have been hitting pot holes or parking and hitting the curb - we never park near a curb),saying we'd have to pay full price for a new tire (just 2 weeks later!). Rob became completely nasty after about 30 seconds of me not agreeing with the situation and pointing out it should be covered by the warranty - raising his voice and telling me we should leave if we don't want to pay for a new tire. After 5 minutes of this, I left (along with another customer who was on line behind me) - got a new tire elsewhere and am now going through my credit card company to fight the cost of that original tire purchase. read more

Terrible Service! Stay Away! I have been giving them business for many years but after today no way! I made an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation and brake check (which i purchased from them), the day before via online for 10am. Arrived on time and they told me "cant do the oil change tanks are full". He said i was the only one scheduled for an oil change and because no one had picked up their waste oil they couldn't do it. I asked them why didn't anyone call me to let me know? They had time to call me. All Joe and another worker said "well sorry can't do it ". I had a right to be upset and they didn't seem to care at all. Not even volunteer a solution to somehow rectify the situation or say come back and we'll make it up somehow? Just RUDE, ARROGANT, TERRIBLE, CUSTOMER SERVICE ! They will not get my business anymore including the other 3 cars we have purchased tires for. MAVIS CORPORATE WAKE UP! I came here to get back tires was told I needed front tires rear brakes rear rotors and front brake pads which I got because I was driving a long distance in a few days. I paid the bill which was around 600. When I looked at the bill it show that I had an alignment which I never verbally asked for. As I was driving home I noticed my car was definitely not aligned right so they said to come back the next day and theyd fix it for free. As I was leaving work to go back to Mavis to get the alignment corrected my ball joint broke and my tire came off right before I went on the parkway which could've led to me being in the hospital if it was three seconds later than it happened. They sent a tow truck saying they would pay for it and then I went to a nearby Mavis and they said they were not paying for the tow which was 100 and something dollars. They tried to tell me that a ball joint has nothing to do with an alignment which is false they r supposed to touch the ball joint while doing an alignment which by the way I never asked for in the first place so if they had touched the ball joint they would've known it was no good and told me to replace that since I bought everything else they told me but they failed to do so and try charging me 600 more dollars to fix everything that happened as my tire came off the next day we called corporate and got it fixed for free however my car is now dented but I do have it all fixed however when I break I hear a little bit of noise which I'm getting pissed off about. If I continue to hear this noise I will bring it right back and they will have to fix it for free again. I will never go back. read more

BUYER BEWARE!! Took my Honda to the Honda dealer for a free check up. They told me everything was good except rear brakes. Went to Bethpage NY Mavis shop and told the manager what Honda said and left the car for them to take a look. The service manager called me about 2 hours later and told me I need front and rear pads AND rotors AND my rear struts were blown. Said they could do the job at a "discounted price" of only $748.00 plus tax. I told him to put everything back together and do nothing. Obviously the front manager failed to tell the service manager that the car had been checked by a Honda dealer. I picked up the car and took it to my local mechanic who checked everything out and told me the front brakes are perfect, the rear struts are good and, while the rear brakes are worn, they still have a good 5-10,000 miles left on them. Cost, ZERO. I'm a senior citizen and I have the feeling that these people assume that if you're on in years you're also gullible and stupid. As far as I'm concerned the service manager there is as phony as a $3.00 bill and should be fired. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
