After Seventeen years of living here this might be my favorite thing I've done in Vegas. At first I was really put off by the $500 price but five minutes in I knew it was worth every penny. Took off from the strip, took in the incredible Southwestern Scenery of the Mountains surrounding Vegas, the Dam, Lake Mead, the Colorado River, and landed in the Grand Canyon, stunning from start to finish. On the way back we saw different views and came in across Vegas. Magnificent. I also cannot say enough good things about our Pilot Dayna, she was filled with great facts, did some amazingly accurate landing, and was all around the epitome of pleasant professionalism. read more

This company is downright unreliable. They will cancel or shuffle your flight at the last minute under vague excuses like "OPERATIONAL REASONS." In my case, they waited until 8:40 p.m. the night before my scheduled birthday night flight in Las Vegas to inform me that my chosen time was no longer available. The "closest option" was one hour earlier, which forced me to completely rearrange my dinner and show reservations. I ended up having to cancel KA, one of the highlights of my day. What makes this worse is how late they chose to contact me. By dumping the problem on me the night before and right before closing, they left me scrambling to juggle my birthday plans with almost no time to coordinate with other reservations. Then they clocked out, leaving the situation unresolved until the next day. Why should a guest be put through this circus just because the company can't manage its schedule? On the day of the flight, I even saw flights still operating 30 minutes before my original time--the very slot they claimed was "unavailable." When I asked about this earlier via text, they ignored the question completely. Zero transparency, zero accountability. The photo department was the final insult. My friend and I were each entitled to a complimentary printed photo from MGM reward (looks like normally priced at $29.99). We were only photographed twice -- both group shots. In one, my eyes were closed; in the other, I looked fine. Yet the staff refused to print the good photo and insisted that the only option was the closed-eye one, telling me the other would have to be purchased online. It was obvious this wasn't any real policy, just a lazy excuse to brush me off. Meanwhile, I watched another group of girls get individual portraits plus a group shot, with all three printed out and laid on the counter for them to choose from. The staff shrugged, "at least you're smiling." The result: two identical, utterly useless prints of me with my eyes shut. We tossed them aside the moment we got them. A closed-eye photo is not a product fit to sell, let alone something you're supposed to treasure. As for the flight itself, it was what it should like, but choosing another company would be no different. We accepted being seated apart "for weight distribution"; we would not say very happy with this, but it's ok. I was put in the front seat while my friend was sent to the back left, and his view was only so-so compared to others. What matters is what stood out was the pattern: with this company, the bad outcomes always seemed to land on us, I couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of discrimination. First the cancellation, then being stuck with a closed-eye photo, and finally being split up. It felt less like coincidence and more like a choice. Overall, Maverick Helicopters shows no respect for your time, your money, or your experience. They run on self-interest, not customer care. If you value reliability, integrity, and basic courtesy, look elsewhere! read more

My group booked a Mustang helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon through Viator. We paid about $390 each which include shuttle pick up from our hotel, helicopter flight that lands in the Grand Canyon, champagne toast, and then flight home. Overall it was about a 40 min ride each way in the helicopter with about 30 minutes to take in the views when you land inside. I personally am afraid of heights and flying in general and i felt very comfortable through this whole trip. Our pilot was very professional and friendly. This was such a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Las Vegas. I realize its a bit more $$ than the bus day trips but given the time you save I think it was totally worth the money. read more

This was the best experience I had in Vegas. Combine all the shows and you still don't get the same level of awe, enjoyment and photo opportunities as a Hoover dam and Grand Canyon tour with the crew at Mustang Helicopters. Ben was our group's pilot and his experience and humor were greatly appreciated. If you can, ask for Ben Velasquez. What he doesn't know (or make up) about the local (Nevada and Arizona) area probably isn't worth knowing. He also has a bit of fun when flying - and you all get a seat in the front after each landing. He tells jokes too. And the playlist of music streaming through our headphones was perfect. A great mix of helicopter songs. The landing spot in the Grand Canyon is ideal. Wear good shoes and go for a bit of a wander to take gorgeous shots. And if you don't have cash like I didn't, you can pay a gratuity at the little store in the arrival lounge - so I finally got to give you the gratuity you deserve Ben!! Once again I do not give five star reviews, they must be earned. Mustang certainly did in this case. We selected a Grand Canyon Landing Tour which left from their facility at the Henderson Airport. It appears Mustang and Maverick are the same company. I figured that out since the building and helicopters all say Maverick on them. Everything about the trip was first class. I made the reservations online and chatted with an agent who was very helpful. We arrived about 20 minutes early and the check in process was pretty painless, they weigh everyone and take your payment balance if any. You wait in their comfortable lounge until you are called. They have clean restrooms, a snack bar and a gift shop in case you forgot lip balm, sunglasses or a hat. They had several fixed wing aircraft tours that left before us which they called, grouped then headed out. Okay it was our turn. Our pilot called us by name and we gathered for introductions and a briefing. We went out to our craft for additional briefing and photos. You are not allowed to use your camera on the tarmac but they will do a nice souvenir photo for you if you like. The prices on the photo/video were reasonable if that is your thing. We all laughed about the life jackets but hey, rules are rules. We boarded the craft and the pilot helped everyone with headsets, belts, life jackets and personal items. The craft is actually quite roomy and comfortable. The views were great even from the back middle. Once situated he fired the engine and away we went. We taxied out then off into the blue. Flying over lake Mead we got some different views of the Dam and Bypass. We also got to see where the Colorado River runs into the Lake. The flight was pretty smooth considering we had pretty strong gusts on the ground. The landing in the Canyon was spectacular. We flew down the Canyon past the Skywalk to a ledge a couple hundred feet above the river. Above you, 4000' of canyon walls. Tic this one off the ol' bucket list. Anyway we landed and were soon joined by two other Maverick crafts. Our pilot laid out a nice spread of snacks, juice, water and champagne. We had about 20 minutes to explore around and shoot some photos before boarding for the return flight. Our pilot rotated couples so everyone who wanted got a front seat view. We took off from the Canyon for a quick fuel stop then back to the Airport. I am impressed by the quality of the aircraft and our pilot. The helicopter we rode in was almost brand new, very powerful, comfortable and very stable. Not as loud as some other helicopters i have been in. Our pilot showed his skill in three landings which i jokingly rated him on. The first at the bottom of the Canyon was a 9.5. No bounce but you could feel it touch. The second at the fuel stop was a 10. You couldn't tell when it was down. The last back at the airport was a 9 but landing on hard top in gusty winds...yeah i will take it. He hovered the craft a few feet above the ground as we taxied back to our parking spot. Never during the trip did we feel uncomfortable with the craft or how it was being controlled. We paid a little more for this trip than the competitor charges but for me, well worth it. Highly recommended. If you are a local they will give you a bit of a discount, bonus. Two big thumbs up for this entire operation. Can't say enough good about them. read more

10-20-17: I had no idea I was going on a helicopter tour, we were picked up at our hotel by a clean shuttle. The driver was polite and safe, upon arrival, he gave us easy to understand directions on where to go and what to expect for the next steps. Upon checking in, they weight each person with the items they will be brining, but no one else can see the weight besides them and it is not announced (don't worry!) then we had a short wait in the lobby. I bought a bracelet and the front desk staff there very friendly during the transaction. After our pilot, Erland greeted us, we were escorted to the helicopter and given a quick tutorial and safety talk. Then we all took out seats! I still had no idea what we were doing aside from going in the helicopter, I was assuming a tour of the Las Vegas strip.. but I as so wrong. We took off and flew over what seemed like a BEAUTIFUL endless desert. Erland gave lots of little tid-bits of info as we moved through the skys. We saw the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead... then my boyfriend had our master pilot, Erland tell us what we were doing. And I was SO EXCITED to be landing INSIDE the Grand Canyon for some snacks and Champagne. As we approach the natural wonder I was in total awe. This is something I had always wanted to see. Our helicopter got closer and had a smooth landing. After some photo taking, snacks and champagne, I was wandering around the rocky flat taking it all in, feeling amazed and tiny with the walls of rocks surrounding us. My boyfriend wanted to get some photos of us and the pilot opted to jump in and assist. A few shots later..... and my long-term boyfriend PROPOSED! Some crazy excitement from everyone watching, and from myself our pilot got some great shots of us and a perfect video of the two of us in our most raw moment. **THANK YOU ERLAND for BEING A PART of my FIANCE'S SECRET PLAN!** The trip back was smooth and beautiful, with lots of laughter and jokes from the strangers from across the pond who shared our helicopter. It's the best way to see all the sites that are just out of reach of the strip Hoover Dam, volcano, and Grand Canyon. Not only do you see the GC, you actually land in the middle of it. This was the worst adventure tour I've experienced while on vacation in Las Vegas. First the tour bus never called us when they arrived at our hotel but leave us and told us when we call they cannot come back to get us. We had to find our own transportation to there location. No cancellation or refund just heads up! This company staffs lacking communication skills with their employees. We never got a confirmation call or specific pickup time. I will never recommend this place to any friends or family. All the other adventures tours we did this was the worse ever. The manager Juan was rude too when we explain what happened. Customer service should always be first but this company sucks when it comes to customers. read more

I took my Father-in-law on a flight a few weekends ago, just for something fun and different. We had an incredible time with Aaron Hamm (pilot) on the Free Spirit tour. We got lucky and, last minute, a few people didn't show up for the flight so we (four passengers) had plenty of room to stretch out, take pictures, laugh, and chat away during the flight. We took the Landing tour of the western rim from henderson and it was amazing. We did the early morning flight which saves a few dollars, was a beautiful time of day cooler and had less turbulence. The shuttle picked us up at at our hotel about ten minutes late but no worries and brought us to the where the helicopters take off. They check you in at the depot and the waiting area is really nice and comfortable - with washrooms, a little cafe and ample seating on couches. It was about a 20 minute drive from our hotel. and the check in process took about 30 minutes. Everyone was super helpful and friendly from the driver to the check in staff to our pilot Ben. We had 6 in our group and everyone got a turn in the front of the helicopter though whoever gets chosen to sit up front on the flight to the canyon gets the best seats. But really every seat has a great view. The flight to the canyon was about 45 minutes and passed over the Hoover Damn which was very cool. Once we landed Ben served us champagne, soft drinks, and little debbie style pastries when we landed in the canyon - with ample time to walk around and also just sit and enjoy the view, take lots of photos etc. We never felt rushed but also didn't feel like we didn't stay too long. Its true they offer video and photos to buy but also they encouraged us to take pics and videos of our own and never pressured anyone for tips. It is expensive but an amazing way to view the canyon and we would do it again in a heartbeat. read more

Caden J. was our pilot and he was simply wonderful, funny, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to meet! This tour is worth every penny we spent on it, the picnic snack and champagne was so special as we had gotten married the previous afternoon and what a way to celebrate your wedding. We were five people, started from skywalk and the flight needs 5 minutes to an area where the helicopter landed. There we had 30 minutes time to take pictures and look around. After that 5 minutes back flight. I asked the pilot if there is no more and he asked me if I want him to fly us back to Austria and that it costs money. I highly recommend this excursion. It sure beats a 6 hour bus drive out to the Canyon and was great fun! Go Sunday morning on the 9am tour and receive a special discount. The choppers seat 8 people including the pilot - all the seats are front facing in two rows. The helicopters are very nice, clean, and comfortable. They do shake a bit as you go but it's nothing more than a vibration - it was a very smooth ride in terms of turbulence. The pilot Jon was a great aerial tour guide pointing out what we were looking at below us as we flew. We passed over the Hoover Dam on the way to the West Bank of the canyon where we touched down, got to wander around for 30 minutes to take pica, and have some free champaign before heading back. On the way back we made a stop to fuel and changed seats so everyone could have a chance in the front row. Wow. It realy worth it. We had an absolutly wonderful afternoon. They picked us up on time at or Hotel (Hardrock Hotel). After a short drive (about 20min) we arrived the Heliport. Short check in. Our best friend on the flight (Pilot) Keith explained us short whats going on and we were all very happy as we heard that it will give a short stop on our tour so we could change the seats and everybody had the chance to sit in the front. Keith told us a lot about the HooverDam, the Grand Canyon and a lot of other things around Las Vegas. He made our flight realy special. 10-30-17, As part of my son's Bucket list for his birthday I treated him to the Grand Canyon tour with a Mustang Helicopters. I was a bit apprehensive but decided to give it a whirl. The shuttle driver picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the airport. It was a beautiful clear day for the trip. The staff greeted us, weighed us in and we waited for our pilot. There were six of us for our flight. Zac, our pilot greeted us and explained all the rules and safety instructions and escorted us to the helicopter. My son and I volunteered to sit in front for the 40 minute flight to the Canyon floor. Definitely the right choice, it was a spectacular experience flying over Hoover Dam on our way. Zac was a great tour guide with an awesome playlist of music during the flight. Upon landing we were treated to snacks, drinks, and champagne. Zac was a very experienced and professional pilot with a great sense of humor. It was the highlight of my visit to Vegas. read more
