Absolutely picturesque surroundings, food more appitizing to the eyes than a Dutch masters still life, I can easily say I was impressed. Each plate I saw carried by was a delight to the eyes and if their meal was as tasty as mine then I can say there were a lot of happy people this day.
The menu was well rounded enough to give anyone more than a few offerings and concise enough to be focused on regional specialties. The pannenkoeken (pancake) are a Dutch speciality and the reason for our visit (besides it being a lovely short bike ride away from town). Maurits Hoeve offers a few predesigned pancakes as well as a choice of fillings to build your own.
Deciding on the shorwma pannenkoeken was an easy choice. The beautiful plate sized pancake with a small salad of baby greens, capers and some crunchy pickle along with a garlic sauce and a generous helping of meat made for a full meal on the sunny patio. The house wine was full bodied and dry. They offer many more tempting entrees as well as snacks and desserts that I am looking forward to trying another time.
Anyone in the area would want to make the journey for this absolute gem.
We'll be going back for sure. read more
