Dr. Matuk and Mary or Mark, not sure of the gender, refused my services today for being a veteran! Another doctor, in the same office, found a blood clot (Boghal) on my intestines and Matuk's feeling were hurt because I requested that doctor to take care of my care. Matuk gave me a colonoscopy without ever a follow up. So Mary or Mark; hope I didn't get the gender wrong, the office manager, refused me because they said I saw another VA doctor. Why would the VA make an appointment with Matuk if I saw another doctor? That didn't make sense or wasn't a logical reason refuse to see me OR it's because of my service to this country. Dr. Matuk's office refused me because of my veterans service or because of my ethnic background as a Native American! I have 2 excellent insurances both Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the VA insurance but was refused service. As a proud member of the VA and the American Legion of California, I will be informing ALL veterans of this horrible group of medical "professionals" and Matuk's office! Horrible people!!! read more

Dr. Matuk is professional and capable, but I can't say much for his reception staff and scheduling dept. I showed up 30 minutes early, and after 90 minutes still hadn't seen him. No explanation or apology. Im in the workforce and pay for my insurance. That makes me a customer. I also work in the medical field and possess the common sense to know when a courtesy is due. I'm happy to be assigned to a different provider. read more

He's a great Upper and lower GI doctor .. he saved my life by detecting colon cancer and put a rush on my biopsy and referred me of a wonderful colorectal surgeon to remove the cancer. He also has helped detect many issues with my upper GI And I feel so much better on Prilosec .. He is pleasant and his staff is too ! He is very busy but it's worth it to see the best. Dr. Robin Matuk recommended I take humira after failing other medications for my ulcerative colitis. I was on humira for 14 weeks & had some pretty severe side effects. I told Dr. Matuk that it is my body & I'm not going to continue taking humira. He did not like that so he discharged me. Had to start all over with another gastroenterologist. It is Dr. Matuk's way or the highway. Doesn't care about patients...he cares about kick backs from the humira. Beware!! read more

I went see Dr Matuk and my visit was really nice. All of the staff was friendly.The office was clean. He seemed interested in what I was saying as I described my symptoms. Plus I didn't have to sit in the office forever waiting to be seen like my last Gastro Doc. I'll be going back! read more

AVOID!!! I saw bad reviews and suddenly they are missing. The reviews showed this doctor does not care about what you have that can interfere with his rash treatment! His mother and him are the exact same way - closed to REAL health. I had a crappy new internist refer me to him and I worried about the bad reviews and what he did to my mother years ago. In exam of my stomach (I have autoimmune diseases and other things and I was told to check for celiac) he asked if "this hurt" and I said "no" and he's like "yep - let's schedule that biopsy!" WHAT?! That was rash. EVERY blood test I have ever had and my Mom's celiac gene biopsy years back all indicate NO on celiac. He didnt care to see other bloodwork. He said he needed one antibody test but EH screw it - let's cut ya!! So I am pro-active in my health and ANY doctor that is arrogant and cannot accept your questions, concerns or test requests - RUN RUN RUN!! This is the THIRD time of the 100's of practitioners I have seen in my complex case that wrote me a letter saying basically we are not a good match (because I ask questions and know what I am talking about and have to remind these docs to check this and that because they dont KNOW). These doctors here in Bakersfield don't know a darn thing!! Soooo incompetent. Those letters are all from Bakersfield doctors. RUN to LA!! LA doctors that I have seen are great and LISTEN and willing to go further to find the root cause of symptoms. There are very few that are good here in Bakersfield! This guy just wants your money and doesnt want you to know more than him or ask any questions. So because I rather take every test before putting me down for a biopsy of my intestine, I wrote a short letter requesting these particular celiac tests and sent it via FAX. I called the next day and the rude staff said they didn't get my fax. I sent it again and called the next day. She said she put it on his desk. Another week goes by and I hear nothing. I had told them I am getting bloodtests done the following week and it would be great to get them done all at once. But these b*** assistants have such an attitude that this is how they treated me the next time I called: Me: Good afternoon, I just wanted to know if Matuk had a chance to review the requested bloodwork before I go down for biopsy. Assistant: I left that on his desk last week Me: Um do you know when he will get to it? Assistant: No. Me: Is there any way to remind him to view it? Assistant: No. I can't. Me: [thinking $%#@@#!!!!!] Mmkay, listen, I go in for bloodtests on Thursday for another doctor, it'd be nice to get it all done at once, especially because the biopsy is coming up Nurse: yeah I put them on his desk I can tell the B didnt like me. I am a pro-active, highly researched patient and I happen to know which bloodtests to order. If you have a staff like this - don't waste your time. HORRIBLE!!! I never heard from them and today I got a letter "withdrawing" their "care." Yeah, they did me a favor! Go see Dr Sam Rahbar in LA for gastro - he is one I researched heavily and I highly doubt he's closed-minded like the Matuk family!! read more

I was referred to Dr MATUK by my PCP from KP. And was scheduled on July 18, 2018 . So I went to my appt and paid $20 for my copay. After I was seated , Dr M. came in after few mins . asked me what's the purpose of my visit today ? I said it's with regards to the result of my MRI and wish to discuss this with him. He looked at his chart and responded to me that they don't have a copy of my imaging or other results from my PCP and that I should reschedule . He didn't even ask his medical assistant to call the referring Dr to send over my results while I'm there . I was the one who told him that I will email my PCP while I'm inside his exam room. He just sat there and waited for me to finish emailing my PCP . He asked me few standard questions and gave me a paper to bring for labwork and to reschedule. While in the meantime, he will request all imaging / results from my PCP. I ask frontdesk for another appointment before I left their office and was told I cannot make a future appointment because my referral from KP is only good for that appointment 7-18-18. I was advice to wait for another referral request to be approved then she will contact me and schedule me an appointment . I felt being rushed and pushed away ... After I left Dr M office , I contacted my PCP via emails ....and found out that Dr M and his staff didn't do their "DUE DILIGENCE " . No ATTEMPT nor EFFORT at their end to contact my PCP from KP to request my records while I was inside the exam room. My PCP office contacted Dr M office and reported my incident to their office supervisor. I was told by KP that EXTERNAL PROVIDERS have an affiliate link to access KP patients medical records. Also, Dr M MOA's were directed to contact KP directly if they need to request patients medical records and they will fax or print it same day. Im writing this review to hopefully help other patients avoid this unpleasant experience and I want Dr M and his office staff to be more competent in handling HMO patients. Treat ALL PATIENTS fairly irregardless of their insurance . read more

My PCP referred me to this doctor last Feb. I received my approved referral from my insurance first week of March called Mutuk's office for an appointment and got a voice message. I left a message, after a few days no return calls so i called back. Left another message and no return calls. This went on for about 5 weeks until i called my PCP advising problem contacting Mutuk's office for an appointment. My PCP put me on hold, they must have called the magic number got through and patched me to his CSR.. I made an appointment, they actually made it for a visit to his office in Mt. Messa even though i was asking for his Bakersfield office.. Anyway, my appointment was made for 12:00 p.m. at his Mt. Messa Office (2 weeks out).. I showed up at his Mt. Messa office half hour head of time and was greeted by a line of about 30 people. After standing in line i inquired at the front desk about my appt.. She told me that i had to stand in line sign in and the doctor sees patients first come first serve.. They are open 12:00-5:00 p.m. I did the math for 30 people at avg 15 mins per patient and told myself there is no way i am sitting out in 98 degree weather with possiblitliy of not seeing the doctor in time.. I left. When i got home I called my insurance company to complain, they said this practice is not within their doctor patient guidelines and immediately took a grievance complaint.. Long story short, i am now looking for a new Gastro Doctor. There is no way I would allow this animal doctor to treat me. Any doctor that has no regard to his/her patients has no business being in practice.. This guy is nothing but a cattle rancher. STAY AWAY! read more

Dr. Matuk needs to fire his entire receptionist staff and start over. Worst response time ever from multiple weeks to simply not at all. Go somewhere else. read more
