They wanted to schedule me about 32 hours away with a dentist who is not Nate or Jeff and claimed they could not prescribe an antibiotic without an exam. I am on the phone now trying to get some help today--Monday, not a weekend, not a holiday, with a dentist I have never seen because the ones who took my money and have my x-rays and records are not willing to help me. A woman staff person named Erica is not kind or empathic but defensive and dismissive. I would go anywhere else for dental care before I would give these people more money. Their rates are among the highest.

These are the facts: while laid flat on my back in the exam chair, him on one side, his assistant on the other, they had an argument with each other across me. Further, while probing my gum depth, he was heavy handed and hurt me badly. I asked specifically if he would use a gentler touch, he did not and continued to hurt me. I was shocked in that no other dentist hurt me unnecessarily before that. I wish I'd been a better advocate for myself and said "Stop, let me up" but I was so surprised by this behavior I failed to do so. The atmosphere in the office was dark and bleak as I paid and checked out which indicated to me unhappy employees. I phoned in later to state these facts and got a call back scolding me loudly and harshly. Again, I was shocked never having been treated so badly by a professional before this event. I live in Eureka, CA. The one and only oral surgeon in Eureka could not get me in for 2 months. There is no way I could wait. My regular dentist recommended the office of Dr. Steven R Boettger and Dr. William K Tom in Ukiah CA. Ukiah is a bit of a drive from Eureka but I could get an appointment is less than a week instead if waiting for 2 months. Dr. Tom is so wonderful! His staff is most excellent too. Dr. Tom, my regular dentist, and my thoracic surgeon and the only 3 medical people ever who engendered trust in me and put me at ease immediately like they do. I don't know how they manage that but it is a rare skill. I especially liked the way Dr. Tom explained everything thoroughly and made sure that all my questions were answered. He did not talk down to me as some dentists and doctors tend to do. Instead, he talked to me as an intelligent person. Dr. Tom did an excellent job on the extraction. I seem to be healing well although the work was only yesterday. I am so pleased with Dr. Tom that I will go back to him if i decide to have dental implants. Driving from Eureka to Ukiah is well worth the drive and the extra expenses of travel for the A+++ oral surgery and outstanding staff. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Tom to anyone who needs his services.
