Before we went to Mattress Makers, I only knew that they custom made latex mattresses. My whole point of visiting their store that day was to get a quick overview of latex mattresses, then check out memory foam mattresses elsewhere then go home and order an online mattress I had been researching and had pretty much decided on. When we arrived a the store, Sam greeted us we let him know that we were not familiar with Latex mattresses. He took time to explain to us about how latex was made, functioned compared to other mattress products, and the different processes they went through to make the different kinds of latex. He then walked us through the process of testing different mattresses and helped us to understand how to know if it was the right mattress for us. He gave us the time and space to really relax on each mattress. There was no pressure and no rush. At the end of our 2 hours there we had gotten to know Sam and that his grandfather started the company and now his 3 brothers ran the family business. We decided we loved the mattress we had chosen so much that we did not need to look any further and, without him asking for a sale, we excitedly said we would like to purchase the mattress. This was the first time in many years we purchased something big on the spot and didn't take at least an overnight to think about it. We loved it that much. It was so neat when he told us our mattress would be made over the next week or two just for us. No mattresses stacked in a warehouse but our mattress hand made after we ordered it. They have a 6 month comfort guarantee on the mattress and will make sure you are happy with and sleeping well on your mattress and will make adjustments to the mattress if you are not (fix too soft/hard, etc.). There is also a 20 year warranty! The process was a joy, the delivery on time and the delivery guys very courteous and helpful telling me about our new mattress and answering my questions. They thanked us for our business and even gave us a gift bag! The whole experience was beyond 5 stars-customer service, product quality, delivery, follow up, etc. Getting to support a local family business was a big bonus. Almost a month later of sleeping on our mattress and we are wondering why we waited so long to get a new mattress. I tell everyone I can about Mattress Makers. My family has searching for the perfect pillow for years. We met one of the owners at a Chamber of Commerce get together and a couple of days later we went to his store. We walked into the store and the owner remembered us. He explained to us about all the pillows they had. We were able to test each kind out and chose to our liking. They even have covers to go over each pillow, so you don't have to worry about other peoples heads being on them. Each one of us chose a different type of pillow. The pillows are made infront of you! I am thrilled by the great customer service I received at Mattress Makers when I purchased my new mattress from Mattress Makers in La Mesa. Gabe Hernandez was absolutely fabulous and helped me pick out a mattress that was perfect for me. My greatest surprise was the day my mattress was delivered. The delivery team arrived with my mattress AND a vacuum. They took out the old mattress and then vacuumed the entire area, prior to setting up my new mattress.
