Debbie, the lady who says immediately as we walk into the store, that she wasn't busy and who has worked in bed sales for 18 years... Ran me and my family right out of the store. We were willing to spend a little over a grand on a bed for back issues..... cash. The bed wasn't for me, but I sat on some beds and she told me that she doesn't want me laying on them - just the person buying because she'll have to clean them. Ok.. I thought you weren't busy, and nobody was in the store. She never learned anything in the 18 years because she doesn't know who she was talking to. I didn't tell her I've been sleeping on a bed older than myself and I needed one as well - STRIKE ONE. She was extremely pushy. If she was any good, she would have had two commission checks that day. She tried to give us (supposedly free with the mattress) a bed base that electronically folds up, that sits about 9 inches off the floor? We said to her that's pretty low especially with no box frame needed, she replied, "well, it's just 9 inches" - STRIKE TWO, because for someone who has back problems and 6'2" that's not a smart call. As she's aware of the back issue, she says "this bed is comfortable, I have this and I sell this the most". I dont care WHAT you have or WHO you sell it to, all I care about is getting the best bed for the person with the back problems. Don't ever compare customers to everyone else. Obviously every bed is more comfortable when you're laying there for a minute, but she didn't care about what bed was best for the lower back - I would think with her "18 yrs experience" she'd know a thing or two, but she never once mentioned anything about different options addressing back issues. Just seemed like she cared more about selling anything to us. When she saw we weren't satisfied (more so by the service than the beds), she offered us a free pillow with a purchase. We pulled a "we'll think about it" line as we were leaving and she asked if she could run in the back to see if they had an exchanged bed that someone USED that they sanitized in the back for a cheaper price, just for any kind of sale... and kept reminding us that for any bed it would be the "twin" mattress price. We already told you we'd spend over a grand on a bed - WHY would we want a used one? STRIKE THREE. Needless to say I won't EVER be buying a bed from this store, and they just lost two customers. Remember to listen to customer needs first, you'll make a sale much more quickly. And again, learn who you're talking to first before you stop making people try out beds that I was interested in buying but never told you - instead of being too lazy to "clean them". The thing that gets sales people the most is how much I look like a teenager, and how very stunned they would be if they found out how old I was. Those are the ignorants that lose my sale (which have been many) treating me different, or brushing me off because I don't look like I'd make them money. LEARN from this. And just to give you an update, we ended up going to Ashley's, who gave us so much knowlege on their mattresses for about 2 hours, feeding us info. We ended up spending tripple what we wanted - now that, ladys and gentleman, is how you make a sale. read more

Recently completed a purchase here. Couldn't be happier with our queen sized bed and adjustable base. Came in while we were in the process of buying a house in September and our closing took much longer then expected. Scott was so unbelievably flexible and kind hearted. He went above and beyond to make sure the process was flawless while we were very stressed with closing on our home and moving. I couldn't recommend this specific establishment any more. We went to Mattress Firm because we are moving to Miami and knew they had locations there also. When we walked in the saleswoman asked us how she could help. We said we were moving and looking for a mattress she then proceeded to say "you look like you don't want to spend a lot" and walked us over to their boxed foam mattresses. I said no we want a foam mattress or gel and our current set is kingsdown. She was obnoxious and rude. Mattress Firm lost a sale of at least $6,000 today because ( we needed two sets) because we were guided to a cheap mattress for her perception of how we looked a certain way. Sorry it's Sunday and I wasn't in my Gucci. Pathetic. read more

While shopping with my daughter for her first full size bed yesterday, we stopped into this Sleepy's showroom. Sean was working and was very helpful. He showed us every option available, in every price range. He explained all the differences in the features, and their individual benefits. Being patient with my 9-year old who, of course, needed to try out every automatic bed frame was also a huge plus. My wife and I went to this SLEEPY's to look for a new mattress. I had my reservations due to a less than optimal experience at a SLEEPY's location several years ago but I thought we would give it another shot. We were greeted by Sam, the store manager. He was professional, pleasant and asked us a lot of questions to gain information to assist him in showing us mattresses he thought we may like. We had tried several beds, all the while Sam was there for questions and NO sales pressure. When we finally chose the bed we liked, then came the negotiation. We got what we thought was a fair price and closed the deal. My wife and I walked out of the store happy that we just had a terrific experience. The one caveat is...doing you homework with prices of SIMILAR mattresses before you shop. I found out that I could have gotten a SIMILAR mattress elsewhere for a few hundred less. Don't bother with the price guarantee they offer, it is not realistic. You have to find the SAME IDENTICAL mattress elsewhere for cheaper. When I called Sterns and Foster, I was told that the model that is sold at SLEEPY's is EXCLUSIVE to them and NOT SOLD ANYWHERE ELSE. Needless to say there was not price adjustment. None the less, the shopping and delivery experience was excellent and I have little regret that I made my purchase at this SLEEPY's. Just be price savvy before you go... read more

Somehow my order from a different store got messed up, and some of the free items on my order could not be delivered on the same day my mattresses were delivered. On a whim, I came to this Commack location in hopes of resolving the issue and finally getting my items. The manager here went above and beyond, and after a lot of back and forth with the original store and other departments, I was able to walk out with my items. Honestly he could have just wiped his hands clean and reverted me back to the store I placed the order at, but he was very helpful until the end. read more
