I ran a little late for my appointment but they forgave me, I enjoyed the experience and Ilyana did a fantastic job picking up where my previous stylist left off and my hair looks better than ever. I made my next appointment before I left and am delighted to have found a new spot for getting all prettied up.

She told me exactly what she was doing as she cut my hair. How considerate of her. She took her time and nailed the style. She gave me great instructions on using a diffuser with curl-defining cream. (It's a great product, it was not a hard sell) I would have never thought to try it on my very straight hair. The scalp massage with shampoo felt amazing! There were other women in the salon, I was very impressed by their color and cuts. I have several acquaintances who use this salon. Their hair always looks great. The salon has a nice vibe, it's clean and stylish. Dathan and Ilyana are warm and friendly. It was a pleasure to get a cut. The shop is very convenient to the ferry if you live on the islands. A big plus for me! The price was reasonable.

Many calls and research results later... We were setup with Lillyanna. So experienced that she was able to handle us both at once. Happy smiles and very aimiable to chatting. My sister got blond highlights and a protein treatment before a lovely set of beach waves. She was over the moon. My idea had been full color, but i agreed with her professional opinion about highlights being a better choice since i can't afford the time or cost of routine color work. Very often, things go wrong so they can then go VERY RIGHT for you. This was that time. Her work is on point, excellent manners and professional. My sister made me swear our next sister beauty day, we come back to Lillyanna. I agreed. It is not, NOT a low cost experiance. It is her years of being in the profession you pay for and she is worth it.

I wanted light blond highlights and I did not want to color all of my hair. I did not want chunks of blond. No idea about length or style. I let her know I had a wedding coming up and I chose here because they explicitly advertise low maintenance highlights that grow out without harsh lines. As soon as I got back from the shampoo bowl I noticed my blonde was multiple shades lighter than anything I would be able to keep up with, and panicked a bit. Kristen acknowledged it was a lot. When we looked at the line of where the highlights started versus my root she expressed understanding that this wasn't super blended and tried to put some color on it to fix it. There were also spots where the bleach bled, so there are random (literal) spots in my hair that are much brighter than other areas (see pics). I was stressing since this was the very front of my hair that would show in an updo, and the side of my head looked like there was a bald spot from the bleach lol. She assured me I could come back to get some lowlights or some kind of correction so I tipped well and left, despite being pretty anxious. I reached out to Kristen the next day to schedule a fix like she said and this was her response: "Sorry you're not happy with your color! I feel as though my hair coloring technique isn't what you're looking for and another artist will have the technique you're looking for. In this case, we will refund you for your service." What??? I have two weeks until a wedding and if that's not your technique, then why do you advertise highlights with "optimal brightness without noticeable lines or harsh grow out"? Such a strange way of handling it when you don't deliver well. Leaving me high and dry, stressing out trying to find an appointment somewhere rather than fixing it. And I personally think if you can't fix highlights that don't look good or bleach bleeds, you shouldn't be doing highlights in the first place. Like I said strange, disappointing experience. I can see that someone else on here had a similar one, too. Also the owner responded to my google review by accusing me of making the stylist feel "unsafe." The same stylist who had me get my phone out while I was in the chair, look up her personal instagram, follow her, and told me to reach out to her on there to book a lowlight to fix my hair. Very strange thing to do with someone you feel "unsafe with." Accusing me of making the stylist feel unsafe and trying to shame me into deleting my review rather than just admitting they handled this situation poorly and didn't have the ability to deliver or fix their mistakes just underscores my experience.

A SHEAR-NIGHTMARE!…read more My friend Jenn referred me to Salon Paragon and said the owner, Shawn Durost does a great haircut. Upon calling the salon, I had left 2 messages before finally getting a call back- 5 days later. I should've taken this as a sign to walk away, but, I figured maybe they were just busy and decided to scheduled a cut and highlights with him anyway. The moment I arrived, I felt like it was social hour. Stylists were goofing around and had an overall-lackadaisical behavior; more like I was in a coffee shop then a professional establishment. I sat down and proceeded to discuss with Shawn what I was looking for. I asked for a touch up of my natural honey colored highlights and a trim to take off the dead stuff. Where did things go wrong?! I received CHUNKS of SILVERY WHITE hair!! I was horrified! It made me look like I had old witch hair! He saw my face and quickly turned me away from the mirror and said it would look different once it was dry. As he began cutting, I could see my hair was being cut REALLY SHORT, with tons of layers. He then starting cutting with these big, chunky scissors with "teeth". I had never seen these before and couldn't see exactly what he was doing, but I could feel hair being cut close to my roots. After the blowdry, I was turned to the mirror. I was so upset that I fell silent. The pretty hair I walked in with had been transformed into a hideous, Halloween-like wig. It was now a dirty GREYISH blonde color that felt dry and gross (despite all the greasy product he put in to "hide" it). My length was taken off and replaced with short, mullet-like layers; I felt like I had "Joe Dirt's" hair. Looking back, I shouldn't have paid and/or requested a refund. Upon "inspecting" Shawn's work later that afternoon, and, just when I thought it could get ANY worse, I saw that the front of my hair had literally been CUT OFF at the root!! It was a big wide CHUNK of hair- just gone; MISSING!! I was so angry, I almost called to get his insurance policy and file a claim for damages. My husband talked me down from pursuing legal action. My girlfriend Jenn was mortified, saying she doesn't dare return. It is terribly upsetting and frustrating that an OWNER of a salon would be so AMATUER and NEGLIGENT with someone's hair. Avoid this place unless you are looking for a SHEAR-nightmare!
