The salon was clean and it was easy to physically distance. I felt completely at ease (though it will be nice to visit again at some point in the future and not have a mask on, if that is possible). I did a spur of the moment haircut when I was in Scarborough and this was the only place I could get an appointment at within a few hours. Julia gave me the exact haircut I was hoping for, even though I didn't have any photos. The cut included a wash with a very nice head massage that was very relaxing and I would have loved to have just that the whole time! She explained what products she was using as she styled my hair to dry it. The cut and lip wax came out to $57. I was able to leave a tip with my credit card. Though this place is about 45 min away, I will likely be coming here again for my haircuts. read more

Regrettably had a single process color and gloss toner done. Unfortunately, I specifically asked if they use Aveda color which I was told yes as I am sensitive to certain chemicals. A different brand was used and I had a bad reaction to the harshness and chemical odor. I began coughing and congested 20 minutes into the service and my head was stinging mildly. I was told I had a rash on my head when I questioned this. However, I get weekly blow outs and this was a first. I went back today after calling and asking to have my hair washed again and blown out to tone down the chemical smell, it was too much. I explained this was why I asked specifically if they use Aveda when I inquired on coloring my hair. Not only was I charged again for another style, I walked out looking like I just rolled out of bed and neglected to brush my hair or stuck my finger in a light socket. I could have used my Oribe product at home and done a better job at removing the odor and styling. read more

By far the worst experience of my life at the Scarb. location. I waited close to 20 mins past my appt. time for Anna to start. My hair ended up being approx 3" shorter than I asked & showed in my inspiration photo. She had to go around my head cutting 3 times, she kept saying she thought it was uneven, and shorter and shorter it got. Finally she called over a co-worker to help her even it out, and still it's visibly uneven. She also sectioned my bangs incredibly uneven. I couldn't tell her I hated it at that point because I was fighting back tears and you can't add hair back, obviously. I asked if she could curl it like the pic, she didn't let the curling iron heat up enough & didn't hold it in my hair long enough for a curl to set. I didn't make it to my car before I broke down. I've never felt so ugly in my entire life. I skipped my 20 year high-school reunion the next day because I didn't want anyone to see me. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. The website says womens haircuts are $50+, and I booked with a Level 1 stylist assuming the rate would be around $50-$60 range. It came out to $93 before the tip, which felt very misleading. The stylist pulled very hard on my hair (an hour later my scalp is still in pain), and I've gotten better haircuts at Supercuts. When I expressed that I felt misled by the price, the receptionist had some wishy washy answer about "half hour" haircuts being "a bit cheaper but not by much". Would not recommend and will not be going back. read more

Scheduled blow dry appts for my wedding rehearsal dinner for me + my mom and 2 sisters. All 4 outcomes were a disaster. Their stylists do not have the right experience. My mom's hair was so flat on her head, mine was kinked and not blown out smooth at all. The stylist was patient and asked how she could help fix it but insisted the only way to do so was to flat iron it, and and then curled and I wished I had time to re-do it myself at home. It was stringy at the ends because of the flat iron and just overall the worst blowout I've had. I do not recommend, they just don't know what they are doing and you are better off styling your own hair. read more

For someone who has been to every location except Falmouth, I cannot express more what this company has done to prepare for the reopening after COVID-19. From cleaning every doorknob and shampoo bottle, to redoing the walls and floors, also keeping up with staff. I was a regular at the Falmouth location, but because of Covid my stylist was no longer there. I decided to go to Scarborough and went and saw Julia to fix my awful stripey hair color I got from a smaller hair salon in a small town. Julia was super helpful and so understanding. My hair came out amazing!! She also gave me a head massage which was a surprise. She suggested great products to keep my blonde not brassy. She was So nice and will definitely be my new hairstylist. She also fixed my haircut, evened it out no charge. I also am from MA so finding a great hair color/ stylist in Maine has been a challenge. read more

Yes, I live in LA and I would normally get my hair done here.. but I am easily distracted from making grooming appointments and when I found myself in the Kennebunk area with some free time, I asked my friend where to go to hide my gray hair and trim the crunchy ends off my mop. She recommended Becca at Acapello. As luck would have it, they were open (on Monday!!!) and she had some space.. so I plugged the address into the GPS and headed over. The salon was clean, comfortable and stylish. Becca asked me what I wanted, went over colors and talked about the cut after. She turned my hair a gorgeous reddish brown then cut the mop into something more stylish. She also turned me onto the magic elixir known as Orofluido. One of the of the few salon products that replicated that stylist magic when I tried it at home. Thanks, Becca! Price was more then fair for all services and the experience was low key and pleasant. On a whim I called Acapello up while on vacation to see if they could fit me in for a cut. The receptionist was more then helpful and 3 hours later I was in the seat with Jenna. Jenna is very talented, knowledgeable and helpful!! I was very very pleased with my cut and overall experience at this salon. This place has a great location and some talented staff, I just was double booked. The stylist was new and she kept me there for over three hours. How desperate is the owner for money? The dye was left on my hair too long and it went down into my right ear. It was never wiped out. I am still seeing a ENT specialist to heal my ear. I went into the salon and asked what would help prior to seeing the doctor. The receptionist tried to sell my another product. Little concern for my infliction. Why after paying over $200 dollars for my hair, would I be treated like no one cared? The Scarborough location is mess, I really wish I had never made an appointment there. When I went into Salon my hair dresser was "put off" my last minute scheduling. She was cold and unwelcoming. I sat down and asked for face framing with a partial highlight to cover my gray hairs around my face. She applied 10 foils to the top of my head. This is not what I asked for and told her I wanted my gray covered. I paid over $200 and told HR about my experience. There was not even an offer to cover my next service and I had to buy box color to cover the gray hair myself. I will never go back to that salon again. read more

I made a mistake on my appointment yesterday.Jessica at the desk could not have been more respectful and kind to me.She and the owner quietly moved appointments around to accommodate all the services I was hoping to receive! They made me tea and made me feel relaxed and welcome. I had Brittany as a stylist.Extremely professional and a skilled beautician! She did a gorgeous job on my color and cut.A huge bonus for me was the lovely scalp and relaxing hand massage that is part of their services.They use Aveda products which I love.Brittany also put some makeup on me( Aveda products) after she finished my hair.I have traveled quite a bit in and out of the country. I love this salon! My usual stylist does not work at Acapello salon anymore so I tried a new stylist named Bri. I was getting a partial highlight. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for. It turned out perfect, pretty much the same as the photo and we didn't even have to glaze. On top of this she was super down to earth and nice to talk to. I'm so thankful she did my hair. The service from Bri was fantastic! I only got a cut, but she was quick, professional and my hair looks great. The front desk girls need some serious training! I had a referral gift card, and they had no idea how to use it. They booked me with the wrong stylist, didn't tell me I had to spend over $50, etc. so I couldn't even use it anyway. Then I went up to pay, and the girl never told me I needed to tip ahead of time! Really terrible. I asked to reach my natural hair color from the highlighted very light blonde color I had, and add two different lowlights for dimension. After detailed instructions and pictures to help visualize, the stylist took two hours putting dark, dark brown lowlights in my hair. Without touching the rest of the blonde. When asked if she was going to do anything else, she panicked and simply put an ugly ash brown glaze over my whole head. Wanted to just get away from bleaching my hair. Ended up with a whole new problem. On top of this, staff was all over the place, had me wait for a half hour to even start my scheduled appointment, switched stylists in the middle of my hair, and the cost was outrageous for what was done to my hair- she actually charged me for the glaze instead of admitting her stupid mistake...so disappointed. For my regular color retouch appoinment, my stylist was unprepared & asked me for the formula combination....she then splashed the dye on my face & arms during the application. Not only was Carlin friendly and welcoming, but she understood exactly what color I was looking for. She had amazing customer service and seemed to read my mind. This salon went above and beyond my expectations. The salon is tastefully laid out and decorated, in a good location just off of the highway in Scarborough. My consultation with Amanda was great; she listened to what I wanted and needed and was friendly and enthusiastic about my hair. She gave me an excellent dry cut and the color is absolutely gorgeous.
