Not a fan of Dr. Doyle's bedside manner. I saw Dr. Doyle to fix a scar tissue issue in my foot (because he is in network) and his immediate response was, "there is nothing I can do for you." Didn't consider any solutions that might help reduce my pain, just a flat out "too bad, live with it" attitude. He also made it clear that my problem was not his doing. I've received great care after switching to Sutter last year, so this felt really off the mark. read more

My first visit to this doctor's office was unfortunately a very poor experience. For an almost $600 visit, the doctor spent less than five minutes with me. Instead of discussing my concerns or potential solutions, I was told to refer to the After Visit Summary for over-the-counter recommendations. ​Not only was the AVS left completely blank, but when I followed up via the portal, the staff's only advice was to "find something with salicylic acid"--information I could have found with a basic internet search. Charged me $600 for a visit that lasted less than 5 minutes when the primary reason for my visit was to get new orthotics only to find out they don't even make the orthotics in this office. They outsource it to a lab! They could've told me this over the phone and not wasted my time and money. I had a surgery with this doctor 2 year back to remove a cyst in my ankle joint. The surgery never gave me any relief. He seems to be very confident and caring but his skill set is doubtful. When I saw a kaiser doctor she informed me that Dr Doyle has not given you a clear picture of the expectation of the surgery nor has explained me the risks properly. She was surprised to know he recommend surgery so eagerly without trying other methods of recovery. As per him this was simple procedure and recovery would be fast and ALSO my cyst can only be surgically treated. He even suggested I will be able to walk within weeks. I've been having foot pain on and off for 2 months so I was referred to this doctor. He came in and told me it was not an infection. Which I already knew since I saw an ID doctor for a reoccurring issue. He told me it was a mechanical issue. I asked why is it only in one foot and he responded by asking if I want both feet to hurt? He was unprofessional, spent less than 5 minutes in the office with me and left suddenly. He told me it was my age and I needed better shoes. I don't know what his problem was, but I would not recommend this doctor unless you want to be treated with disrespect. I made an appointment to see Dr. Doyle on April 30, 2024. The outsides of both of my feet were in pain, and the pain had been occurring very frequently for the past month or two. Dr. Doyle determined that the main cause of my pain was narrow shoes which were pinching my very wide feet. He administered two steroid shots on the outsides of my feet. After the appointment, I loosed the shoelaces on my shoes. Both of my feet are now pain free, in all of my activities. I initially selected Dr. Doyle over other ankle specialists because of his convenient location (Good Sam area) and the recommendations I read online. I needed someone experienced and knowledgeable in ankle replacements. He was just what I needed! He was able to immediately diagnose my problem and recommend a solution. He took the time to review my x-rays and ankle anatomy with me. He detailed what surgery I could opt for, what it would do, and what recovery would look like. He explained his philosophy about postop recovery, which was much different than I'd experienced before - for my situation, boot on 24/7 (sleeping with a boot on isn't the greatest, but the logic behind it makes good sense), progressive weight bearing, and no PT necessary. I learned early on in my many ankle surgeries that following a surgeon's experienced recommendations has the best outcome, and it was true this time as well. This is by far the easiest recovery I've ever had. I appreciate Dr. Doyle's expertise, his clear communication and explanations, and the relief he has given me from chronic pain. I have seen five other podiatrists in my 15-year journey of ankle problems, and he is by far the best. I highly recommend him! read more

When I first came to see Dr. Doyle walking was very painful. I had given up my daily walks because I just couldn't do it and work was becoming more and more difficult. He diagnosed my condition and scheduled my surgery right away. He had to perform a complex surgery on my ankle with a bone graft, fixing my torn cartilage and tightening one of my ligaments. It was not an easy surgery to recover from, but he was patient and kind during my long recovery. Today I can go on walks again and am building up to hikes! It's been less than a year. The best part is I have no more severe pain. Just aches after a lot of use which is normal at this point It's amazing! What a gift he gave me! I would highly recommend him! read more

Dr. Doyle was highly recommended to me by a friend who had a similar foot problem. I started to see Dr. Doyle after a very unsatisfactory visit with a Podiatrist at Stanford. Dr. Doyle and I worked together for a few months, exploring other problems with the same foot and I eventually made the decision to have some extensive surgery in 2/24. Throughout this process Dr. Doyle was knowledgeable and informative. Throughout my post-surgical treatment and recovery I appreciated his sense of humor and kindness, especially when I had a death in my family and was concerned about traveling with my boot. I am now 3-months post surgery. At my first physical therapy appointment my therapist was impressed with my range of motion. I credit Dr.Doyle with this as he had me doing some simple exercises as soon as I was out of the cast. I am currently poised to transition to a 'real' shoe this week and feel confident in doing so. My first visit with Dr Matthew Doyle was September 2023. Both of my big toe joints have/had arthritis. This was causing so much pain I could not take walks or hike anymore. In January 2024 he did big toe MTP joint fusion on my left big toe. Ten weeks post surgery I can now walk without pain in that foot. I am so grateful. I plan to have my right big toe fused by Dr Doyle in September. Every time I have gone to his office the wait time has been minimal. His staff is pleasant and efficient. I have had bunions as long as I can remember and they finally started causing me discomfort about 1-2 years ago. I finally made an appointment to see what could be done to ease the discomfort in my left foot (which was the worse foot). I met with Dr. Doyle in December 2023 for xrays and an evaluation and was able to get scheduled for surgery in February 2024. Dr. Doyle was very upfront about the surgery process, the expected recovery timeline, and potential issues I could have post surgery. The surgery went better than I could have hoped for and after 15 weeks of recovery I am fully walking on my foot again. There is still some swelling and tenderness which Dr. Doyle said is expected and is fully inline with the recovery timeline expectations he set for me. I have had multiple follow up appointments with him and each time he has been very attentive and made sure to answer any and all questions I had. On the rare occasion I had a questions after I left my appointment, he was easy to reach via email and was very responsive. I went in with a pain on top of my foot and was misdiagnosed without much investigation that I most likely have arthritis because of low arches. I told him that the pain is sudden and flares up with squeezing the sides so could it be something to do with the soft tissues or tendons. I was told no it's bone related as it gets worse on squeezing the foot. I came back with an anti inflammatory prescription. I was able to diagnose the problem with a friend doc that it was infact tendonitis and can be easily fixed by icing and resting. That's what I did and changed my shoes to prevent my foot from flexing. That's it and my foot is much better. read more
