Dr Cohen removed a plantar wart from my foot, I was 5 weeks postpartum when he performed the surgery and I was quite nervous about it but it was a very quick and easy procedure and Doc did a really great job at calming my nerves and making sure I have a quick recovery. Outstanding! Found myself needing to visit a podiatrist after suffering a dislocated toe (same toe multiple times during Covid). I searched Yelp and NextDoor and ended up with Dr. Cohen. I was NOT disappointed. His staff was welcoming and easy to work with. He had an xray machine right in his office so it took just minutes to see what was going on with my toe. Dr. Cohen was very attentive, listened to my complaints and we came up with a good rehab solution. I would highly recommend if you are in need of excellent care. OK...So in Dr. Cohen's favor, he did a good job of removing a nasty plantar wart that I had. He claimed to be the King of Warts. Although this is not a title I would be likely to advertise, for someone in his profession it does have its merit. On to the complaints: Dr. Cohen's bedside manner is less than satisfactory. And the office felt dingy. Finally, I am a dancer, and when I brought in my shoes to show him (very high heels) he was simultaneously aghast and amused, taking around the offensive items to show to other members of his staff. Last Monday the 20th was my first visit with Dr. Cohen. I went only after seeing positive feedback on Yelp. I could have gone to Stanford or PAMF but I prefer a more small office feel and the ability to connect with the doctor. And come to find out, my co-worker has been going to him for years! He has a small, modest office, great friendly staff and machines that get the job done. I have had heel pain for quite sometime now and Dr. Cohen took x-rays of my feet and diagnosed me with heel spurs and is getting me into custom orthotics asap! He is very honest and gets straight to the point. He doesn't want to waste any time in getting you better, so I can see why his beside manner could be misinterpreted, but get to know him, and he is very compassionate and professional and he does care! He's doing his job!! It's a pleasure to have a doctor that truly cares about your well being and gives you the one on one attention you need. The day started out like all the others this past spring. My wife and I, now retired, did some chores in the morning, had lunch and now set out for our daily 10,000 step walk around San Francisco where we live. This daily walk; our only form of exercise. Half way to that 10,000 step goal, unexpectedly, on flat terrain, I felt a sharp pain in my left foot near my ankle. I kind of limped home. "It must be a sprain", I thought, and put some ice on it that night. The pain didn't go away after 3 weeks. And although I still managed to go out for a walk each day during that period, I knew that something had to be seriously wrong for a pain not to go away for 3 weeks. My friend urged me to go see his foot doctor; Dr. Irwin Cohen, who unfortunately had his practice in Half Moon Bay; a hard place to get to when you don't possess a car and live in San Francisco. But I decided that since my friend wouldn't let up with his strong urgings, I'd make the 3 hour public transit journey down to see him. And I'm glad I did. It turned out that because of my flat feet and irresponsibly not using my old worn-out orthotics any longer on our walks each day, I injured a ligament near my ankle. Dr. Cohen made me the most amazing orthotics. When I came down to get them in Half Moon Bay, I was having an exceptionally painful day. As soon as I put my left foot into my shoe with the new orthotics the pain just went away immediately. I was stunned. Dr. Cohen explained what was happening before and after inserting the orthotics. While the explanation was interesting to listen to, all I could do was walk around in a daze murmuring, "I can't believe it! I can't believe I can walk without pain again after all these weeks." Dr. Cohen is fabulous!!! Kind, caring, calling at home after procedure personally ...That, in itself, says alot. The procedure went very well, quick healing too. I am very pleased that there is minimal scarring, Range of motion has improved significantly. Years ago he performed an in-office proceduremy for my son (in 4th Grade at the time), Dr. Cohen was very gentle with him, reassuring along the way, made my son feel so calm, and again the healing was quick. Irwin Cohen is the most compassionate caring doctor, bar none, I've ever been to. He diagnosed me with Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy, a very rare pain disorder, 15 hy years ago when no one else could. He stayed with me during all of my tests, calling me at home, meeting me at his office at midnight sometimes to give me a shot to relieve my excruiating pain. He even visited me at home to make sure I was using a machine he had given me correctly. He doesn't give up on hard cases and works with other doctors for second and third opinions. I can't recommend him more highly. I can't imagine anyone not loving this man. read more

I sent to Dr. Cohen on and off for about 6 months to treat a tough plantar wart. Unfortunately, the treatment was unsuccessful. He cut the wart out on 2 different occasions, each time telling me the chance of success was probably 80%. After those both failed, he tried using bleomycin; it made a small blister but seemed to do nothing. The 4th time, he prescribed Imiquimod, a powerful anti-viral. He basically told me to put some of that on it every day, and do nothing else. It pretty much did nothing. In his defense, he told me (after each excision & a 2-week checkup) to come back right away if I saw the wart coming back, but I was very busy and in both cases, I waited longer than 2 weeks to come back. (Eventually I went to another doctor, who gave me much more detailed instructions, and combined multiple therapies at once, and I've had much better luck so far with them. The new doctor combined daily 40% salicylic acid treatment and exfoliation with 0.5% Fluorouracil cream (another powerful antiviral), and it seems to have killed the wart cleanly and quickly. If that turns out to not be true, I'll update this review too.) read more

I broke my toe about a year ago and Dr. Cohen was wonderful and comforting . He set my toe and set me up with an open toe boot to wear while my toe healed. He is so compassionate... It's great to have a doctor that genuinely cares about you. read more

Dr. Cohen is hands down the best. He took care of my ingrown toenail, my fear of needles, and made me laugh along the way. I left wanting to come back (which I never feel about any doctor). He is refreshing, caring, and astute. His staff is warm, resourceful, and attentive. I'm very grateful to them since they had a next-day appointment AND they handled my fear of needles professionally and empathetically (without any condescending rhetoric). I saw Dr Cohen to get very painful plantar warts removed. I had had them for over an year (I had been told by a PCP that it was just corn :( ) and finally went to see him when the pain became unbearable. And boy, was I glad to have gone in! I am EXTREMELY scared of needles/blood/any medical procedure basically, and have zero threshold for pain. Dr Cohen literally took 1+ hour to remove do this... I couldn't even bear the needle poke when he tried to give me local anesthesia to remove them, so he patiently tried different things to minimize my pain/fear. We also found out that anesthesia takes a long time to take effect on me, so he took an incredible amount of his time to ensure that the area was ultimately 100% anesthesia and I felt no pain (only discomfort) when he removed the growth. I have had diabetes for nearly 30 years and it has not been without serious consequences for my feet. Without Irwin's expertise, passion for his job, insistence on keeping current with research, compassion for me,http://www.yelp.com/invite_friends and his insistence that I stay vigilant about caring for my feet - I would be in a very different place. Dr. Cohen is more than just a talented doctor and surgeon; he is an advocate for my feet and has worked on my behalf to make sure I am treated well with respect to other health matters. Had a forest of warts on the bottom of my feet, and Dr. Cohen swiftly removed them (painlessly). I've recovered well and a few days out I'm already able to (gingerly) walk around and am confident I'll be back to 100% very soon. His staff are great at their jobs (which I think reflects well on the good doctor). No nonsense and no wait time: I literally filled in the new patient forms while Dr. Cohen went to town on those damned warts. I've just returned from a scheduled follow-up and no complications at all. Unfortunately, I'm going to be moving out east to Dr. Cohen's hometown (NYC) so won't be around for a one-month follow-up but he immediately put me in touch with another podiatrist there. Dr. Cohen is an amazing doctor. He has the ability to quickly synthesize a lot of information to assess a foot problem. Many doctors make me feel like just a number and like they don't really care about me as a patient. They forget important details I tell them by the time I am on to the next sentence. Not Dr. Cohen, he looks at your history, habits and physical activity to get a sense of the big picture. He is intuitive and kind. He makes you feel cared for and wants to find the source of your problem to fix it rather than just writing prescriptions for symptoms. Some have mentioned in previous reviews that he seems abrasive. In my opinion, he is not at all abrasive, he is simply honest. I prefer to hear the truth so I can get better. If you don't want to improve your health and know the real truth about your health, whether good or bad, then I suppose Dr. Cohen is not for you. There are plenty of doctors out there who will tell you what you want to hear while your health continues on the down slope. read more

I went to see Dr, Irwin Cohen for painful feet. I wasn't sure what was wrong. He was quick to solve the problem and really asked a lot of questions but i liked it made me feel that he was really trying to diagnose the problem and find a treatment. He also started a conversation with me and made the whole experience nice and welcoming. Dr, Irwin Cohen staff was also very friendly and willing to help. I went to Dr. Cohen with a bunion that I didn't realize I had until I bought a pair of pumps that didn't want to fit properly on my foot. At my first appointment he walked in and instantly said what the problem was and that I'd need surgery. He's very professional and knows what he's doing. Ultimately I had an Austin bunionectomy done. The surgery went great and I've had no pain whatsoever. I have recommended him to my friends that have the same problem and I would definitely go back if I had any other issues.
