She was obviously very nervous coming in as she was afraid of "the drill"! The entire process went smoothly. Dr. Sheikh was skilled and very gentle. He explained everything to me fully before he got started so there were no surprises. The assistants Pritika and Breana were also sweet, patient, and very reassuring through the process. I was able to sit by and keep my hand and eyes on my daughter the whole time. She handled it like a champ and hardly flinched! Everything about this office is great for kids. My girls first appointment went well. filled one cavity in one child and cleaned boths girls' teeth. They told me my older daughter would need a root canal on an adult tooth. She was, I believe, 10 at the time. They do not refer out but they gave me a referral to take to an endodontist of my choice. I tried to take her to Salida Surgery but they refused to sedate for a root canal. I ended up having to call several dentists. She had to see and adult endodontist because it was ana adult tooth and NO one would see her. Finally found a place outside my area in the Easy Bay. The total for her sedation and root canal came out to nearly $5000 out of pocket. I paid it. I took my daughter back in for her 6th month check up and the dentist was now saying she needed 2 more root canals. It makes no sense that they did not catch this before or that her endodontist didnt catch it less than 6 months later. I decided to take my girls to Dr. Filbruns office, where I go. The denitst did a full Xray of my childs mouth and said she might possibly need 1 root canal but we might be able to just do a regular filling if its not too deep. If it is too deep we can refer her out immediately. 1 possible root canal. Not 2 definite root canals. She also didnt understand how they would have missed it if it was only 6 months earlier that she had been suggested the first. Its ridiculous that doctors like this one take advantage of the welfare system and the ignorance of their patience or their patient's parents. They are entrusted to be honest but this is not honesty. And absolute piracy. Any typical welfare parents would have just did what the doctor said to do and put their kids in unnecessary pain because they don't have to fork out the money or lose time at work. What is sad is all welfare dentists treat their patients like this. They add on unnecessary work because they know Medi-Cal will pay it out. They are greedy. Had I not got a second opinion, i would be looking at another $6k out if my pocket, at least. Instead, It might be as much as only $300. $150 for filling and $150 more if she needs the root canal after all. And my dentist has someone they can refer her out to, unlike Children's Choice.

My daughter had broken a tooth I left a voicemail on their emergency line and their landline and never heard back. I called again two days after to follow up and stated I had received medical clearance and they stated the dentist wouldn't see her and was going to refer her to Salida surgery center. Why was he not honest from the beginning or at least called back stating he couldn't see her? She could have been receiving care elsewhere. My other daughter was being treated by him and had a great experience but after this I will not be returning with either child.

Which they excel in that. As far as the front staff that schedules appointments absolutely terrible and inconsiderate. During our first visit, they "scheduled" our next two appointments one for March and one for June. They even gave us a handwritten reminder on a card from their office. When approaching the appointment in March, I realized that they never called to confirm his appointment. I went ahead and called and they said it wasn't in the system. They assured me that his appointment was there and to still go in. When I arrived, his appointment was not there in the system, but thankfully, they were able to squeeze them in that same day. Before leaving, I confirmed his appointment for June. I showed them the reminder card that they had given us and they said yes it's in our system. We arrive today and there is a flyer on the door that says our office is closed two Saturdays out of the month. It just baffles me that they scheduled us an appointment on a day that they are closed and if this is something that is new, why did they not call/email us to let us know new office hours or that they were rescheduling our appointment. We will not be returning here.
